What Insiders Are Saying
It’s rare that we back this type of restaurant, but The Lambs Club is Infatuation approved for Pre-Theater Eats and Corporate Card use in Midtown.
Food was tiny portions and expensive. I don’t even eat vey much and always take home half my meal!
I have been to the Lambs Club many times for business lunches and have enjoyed the atmosphere, service and the food (even though a tad overpriced). However, I recently went there with my wife and another couple for a pre-theater dinner and was very disappointed. Although the food was acceptable, the service was dreadful. We told them when we arrived that we needed to leave to make a 7 pm show. They indicated that would be no problem. However it took them 20 minutes to bring our cocktails, servers were often nowhere to be found and they brought our dessert and coffee at 6:45 despite repeated requests that they serve us sooner. We could only eat a few bites of dessert and my wife actually burnt her tongue trying to quickly drink her cappuccino. When we told the manager how disappointed we were (as we ran out the door to make the show), he said he was sorry and would pay for our dessert. That was a meaningless gesture since we had already paid. I called them the next day to complain. The following day they emailed me to apologize and they offered to buy one round of drinks if we decided to come back.
The menu was creative and the preparation and presentation excellent. That aspect of the experience could not have been any better. However, the service was very disappointing. The server was not welcoming in any way. She did not connect with us and showed no warmth or interest in attending to us. I don’t think we’ve really experienced service in such a fine restaurant where the wait staff was so disengaged and aloof. Furthermore, we watched another table receive a birthday dessert accompanied by singing. On the Open Table reservation we stated we were celebrating our anniversary. No acknowledgement at all until we were walking out and by the hostess stand our waitress looked at us and said, Happy Anniversary. That came out of left field and quite frankly was too little too late. Our sever was Valentyn
Thank you for listening.

Above average experience. Would eat there again.
Food was inventive and good. Service fine. Was before theater across street.
The Lamb's Club is one of my very favorite places and we try to go there for brunch whenever we're in New York. The setting is art deco heaven, the service is impeccable, the food is exquisitely prepared and presented, and the jazz duo is outstanding. Hope to be back soon.
The very best place to eat in or near the theater district. An unusually lovely room loaded with theater history; excellent food and fine service. We had Hadestown tickets or we would never have left before dessert. What a great place for out-of-town guests or us locals.
Delicious, unique, exceptional service! Even ordinary dishes were transformed with unexpected ingredients. The hamachi appetizer was one of the most memorable dishes we have had. The strawberry rhubarb dessert is one to return for. We dined with your people, and everyone left very happy.
Superb, refined food in an equally refined setting. The menu is pricey but the the food and entire dining experience are worth the premium.
The Lamb's Club is the perfect spot for pre-theater dining and for any other occasion. Its atmosphere is calm, the lighting is low, and the red banquette seating comfortable. The food was great, and the service attentive. All in all, a home run.
A wonderful dining experience with excellent food, cocktails ,wines & service.
A must when staying in NYC
I’ve eaten at The Lamb’s Club several times and always enjoyed it but this Sunday was terrible. Slow, inattentive service. Impossible to order wine. Badly managed. Huge disappointment for our out of town guests.
The food and the service was everything I would expect from a Geoffrey Zakarian restaurant. Even dealing with the restaurant for some changes beforehand was pleasant as they (Sophia) worked with me to lock in my reservation as well as provide an exemplary atmosphere as my (now) fiancé and I had just gotten engaged (they provided some complimentary items and brought out a special dessert). Surprised to see how quiet it was especially being next to Times Square so it definitely provides a good option for people in a pinch without a reservation weeks in advance. The food we ordered (both protein) was cooked perfectly. Our server Daniel had the perfect balance of letting us enjoy a very romantic dinner while still making sure we had everything we needed. The inside decor and atmosphere is conducive to a special occasion and the folks at the Lamb's Club certainly add to it, I hope you consider your next special night here!
The food was good (favorites included the spaghetti wrapped shrimp, THOSE PARKER ROLLS!!! and the angel food cake!), but I have to tell you, our server (I wish I could remember his name, tall gentleman, slender, glasses) was amazing. The real key to good experience from a consumer--no matter what it's for--is to be made to feel important, and he did just that. I have worked in the industry previously, I could see him directing the support staff quietly to all of the other tables to give them the same level of experience. We also loved the nice touch of the popcorn for intermission of our show! Thanks for the great experience! We are fans of GZ!
My husband and i came for before theatre dinner. Wait staff very nice and informative. My husband had the salmon which he said was good, not great. I ordered the halibut. I almost always order fish. They had a Dover sole whole fish which I considered but the price of $68 was high even for New York. The halibut was over cooked and completely tasteless. The sauces were also very bland. We ordered sides of carrots and green beans which were good. Over all it was disappointing.
This was a Mother’s Day celebration which was a great evening because
-Jasmin (spelled right!) is a great maitre d’
-meal was tasty and wine perfect
-Frank the waiter was responsive
I took my mom for her birthday and GZ was IN THE HOUSE! the food was unbelievable. I’ve NEVER had duck that good- like 15/10, hiiiiiighly recommend. We started with steak tartare which was awesome, as was the bread. I got the short rib ala-something-italian-sounding and it was delicious, my mom got the duck which, when I tried it, completely knocked my (and her) socks off. We also had coffee and dessert - the Zakarian blue ice cream was awesome - lightly sweet and tasted refreshing, and clearly house-made. It was a little pricey but it’s right in Times Square and we got 3 courses and wine. I would 100% go back. Amazing.
Decor, lovely. Food, pretty good--I had chicken with mushrooms and bok choy, my companion had duck, we shared spinach. No dessert, but we each had a drink and coffee. The bill was $160. A lot of bucks, and though the food was good, I can't say we got much bang for the buck. Tried to make pre-theatre reservations (same day) at Cafe Une Deux Trois on the same street as the theatre No luck. No problem making a res a Lamb's, across the street from the theatre. It's a small restaurant and was maybe two thirds full. That tells you what you need to know. Basic problem is that it's way WAY overpriced.
I almost always dine here before a theater matinee. Wonderful menu. Excellent service and sophisticated ambiance. You always get out in time for the show but never feel rushed. I would go there regularly if I lived near NYC if only to eat their their fabulous gluten free rolls.
The perfect spot for pre-theatre dining. Beautiful room with great service. Try the lobster spaghetti!
The food was very good. The bread was wonderful. My daughter had the Delmonico and said it was the best she had ever had. I had the Halibut and it was good but not great. It did not meet my expectations. The fish was over cooked.
Quiet and intimate.
The Delmonico steak was had by 2 persons at our table. They both complained of toughness to cut and being ‘too chewy’. This was something we did not expect at a GZ restaurant. We enlightened the wait staff who took the comments well.
The crudo appetizer was spectacular. My wife had the halibut and it was a very solid, good. I had the delmonico and it was easily the 2nd or 3rd best steak Ive had, a very solid choice. We had the panna cotta for dessert and it was absolutely fantastic. I’ve never had another panna cotta that can even come close in comparison. They have a great martini (I don’t like martinis) and I would have had a second had I not had to get up in the morning. Geoffery Zakarian sitting across from us having dinner was an added bonus.
We went for a pre-theater dinner, and it was perfect. Geoffrey Zakarian was there, and went to each table to introduce himself and ask how the meal was. Where else can you get the owner and executive chef taking such personal care of you? A great experience!
Absolutely amazing experience. Food cooked to perfection and flavors are great. Very elaborate wine list at expected (not overly inflated) prices. Will go here next visit to NYC for sure.
My husband and I chose to entertain clients at The Lambs Club after having experienced a fantastic meal there once before. As expected the food was fabulous, the sommelier went the extra mile to find a bottle of wine for us that he had been told they were sold out of he also selected an additional bottle for us that was well received, the ambience quiet and elegant(appreciated the nod to GOT), the service not so great. Our server was not terribly attentive, for instance the gentleman refilling our water(he was congenial, appropriately friendly and very helpful) went to check on several different drinks that never arrived, she really did not engage our group or bother to check in to see how the meals were being enjoyed(immensely might I add!) and her math skills provided some humor to her otherwise robotic qualities. You might want to know that when you want to order 18 oysters you can't as they can only be ordered in quantities of 12 and 6...this is what she told us, yikes. We were an easy going group of eight so we were a bit amused by the whole thing however I thought you should know.
We will definitely be back again, still thinking about the Dover Sole!
Pre theatre, great spot!
It would be nice to see a few more menu options but delicious overall. And service very attentive which is so important when trying to make your curtain on time.
Here's my thoughts...for a restaurant that is promoting "farm to table" I would think the ingredients would be more locally sourced and I don't feel that was the case. I also feel if you are going to charge the prices you are charging, the service, ambiance, everything should be top-notch. We order one bottle of wine from the menu, which they didn't have. We ordered Grappa off the dessert menu - and they didn't have it. One food running was so energetic that my wife's hair was blown back every time he went past. Glad we went once, but don't think I need to go back..
Very disappointed!! Not another person in the place on a Saturday night. That was our first clue. The food was terrible. I had the special, pork belly and I could not even eat parts of it it was so over cooked. My wife's was a joke a pasta with short rib meat. It was extremely small pasta and we searched for the meat and there was none to be found. There was a lot of dust all around our booth. The bathrooms were a complete nasty mess which was odd since there was no one else in the restaurant. So that must mean it hadn't been cleaned from the day before or the people who work there don't care. Overall terrible, for an Iron Chef restaurant we expected a special night with great food. Never again!!
Excellent martinis! Food was very good. Oysters were outstanding too.
Food was very bland and not well prepared. We had paper in our bread and crab shells in our salads and soup. Restroom was dirty and the overall value was abysmal. Worst $500 I have ever spent at a restaurant.
Food was very good. Nice selection. Ample portions. Service was amazing. Room beautiful and warmly inviting.
I so loved the old world nightclub setting and the live music. The whole ambiance was enjoyable.
The food was very good but definitely on the expensive side.
We just had their Saturday jazz brunch and it was fantastic. The band was terrific and the lobster bloody marys were extra tasty. Highly recommended.
Excellent service... Chef Z made our visit “tops”...Food was great...waiters ere very attentive to our needs.
Yummy food. Great wait staff.
We were in the dining room for dinner.
There was some issue with our meals, but Jasmine the manager came over immediately, and corrected the issue.
We couldn’t be happier with the outcome, and her amazing customer service towards us.
The food was outstanding.
Thank you Jasmine!
We have been to other restaurants by Mr. Zakarian which we have loved. This restaurant was quite nice, however my Amish chicken was a bit dry. I would highly recommend the fish dishes, as my overall impression of his pairings are that he does the most amazing job with fish and shellfish. Would go again if I was nearby for a Broadway show.
