Contemporary American
Since 2006, The LakeHouse restaurant has been the jewel of Bay Shore, NY. This past summer, owners Eileen & Matthew Connors and Jay Gut have upgraded from a cozy yet elegant charmer to a brand new dockside treasure. With stunning views, comfortable seating for 100+ guests, two lounge areas, and deck overlooking the Great South Bay, and a garden fire pit, The Lakehouse is touted by many as “one of the best restaurants on Long Island.” At night, the deck is illuminated, as is the waterfront lounge area where guests can congregate for after-dinner cocktails. This New American fine dining experience is not to be missed. The Lakehouse can now be reached by boat as well, as guest dockage is available at the new gorgeous bayside locale.

Tuna tartare and duck were amazing. My scallops were slightly undercooked. Beautiful space without being too frou frou. We sipped our drinks and watched the sunset.. not a bad date night.

The Lakehouse is always outstanding in every area. It is truly a high caliber restaurant in every way. We went for a Valentine's Day late lunch and were seated in the room with the fireplace. The service was impeccable. We had the clam chowder (that's its name, but it is so far above that), then three of us had the duck confit, and I had the Nova salmon. All of the dishes were beautifully presented and incredibly tasty. Then for dessert---the incomparable Black Magic cake. One hallmark of a fine dining restaurant is that they do not remove your dishes until everyone is finished, and indeed, they did not. I recommend it highly

Looking for a last minute Valentine's day lunch. Found this place on open table and decided to give it a try. I was surprised to see so many people there for lunch, even on a holiday. Then I found out why. Not only was the food excellent but the staff was awesome as well. The place was beautiful with a nice atmosphere. Then to top it all off I was expecting to be price gouged on Valentine's because that is what seems to happen everywhere else but was shocked to find a pre fixe that was great and only $20. I don't need a special occasion to go out at that rate.

The service was impeccable. Our waiter knew just the right amount of time to give us initially and then was attentive throughout without being pushy. Our meals were delicious and the presentation matched. The wine suggested by our waiter was perfect and he didn’t try to sell us the priciest bottle. It was such an enjoyable experience from start to finish.

Food was great, dining room is lovely, but a but noisy. Try requesting a table by the fireplace, it’s a bit more tucked away and not in the middle of the main dining room. Despite the noise, we will definitely go back.

I dined with two other couples during restaurant week. Our waiter gave us price fixed menus that were two courses for $20,not the restaurant menu of three courses for $29.95. The food and the wine special at $30 a bottle were excellent. The desserts were a bit pricey. Service and ambiance were excellent. I had the Harvest soup and the duck. Both were enjoyable. Everyone enjoyed their meals. We split three desserts Bergen us. The entire bill was a bit more than I expected during Restaurant week.

Another outstanding meal at the LakeHouse for restaurant week! We started with the harvest soup accompanied with grilled cheese sticks which was delicious! For the entree we had filet mignon tips on skewers with carrots, onions and mushrooms which was cooked to perfection on top of mashed potato and a red wine reduction. Dessert was excellent with chocolate pot de creme, sticky toffee pudding with gelato, or cranberry linzer tart. It would be hard to top this meal!

We went for Restaurant Week. Having been there a number of times I knew the food would be great. However, we were all disappointed that the Restaurant Week offerings were only 3 per category with any additional items at a surcharge of $7-12 per items. Other restaurants have a much larger offering on their menus.

Visited The Lakehouse during restaurant week and was not disappointed. The food and service were fine. One recommendation is to include a shellfish choice on the menu.

Menu for restaurant week was limited. My husband and I chose entrees without an extra $12 dollars. So disappointing in that it was mediocre that evening. The Lakehouse is always our go to for creative dishes for the palate. They should not participate in restaurant week if they charge extra for the better choices.

We took advantage of the $20 price fixed lunch. We had a good lunch at a fair price. The clam chowder, which is usually outstanding, was definitely not made by the chef on Tuesday, January 28. Whoever made the chowder dumped in a pound of salt, and I really like salt. Hint: taste the finished product.
Waiter and us boy were excellent.

We went during Restaurant Week as I had been wanting to try this restaurant for awhile. The place is lovely and classy. I am sure in the summertime the view would be amazing. The food was very good, delicious and nicely presented. The service on the other hand was less than I would have thought given everything else. We asked for lemon for our water, a second roll when dinner came and as we went with another couple, separate checks, none of which were provided. In addition, Our waiter never asked if we wanted any coffee, tea or after dinner drinks with our desserts.

Food was very good, service was good though we felt forgotten about when we finished eating second course for a while. Beautiful view fir the most part but we were sat by a parking lot view. Still recommend. It is a bit pricey bit great for special occasions.

The food and the view was worth going to this establishment.

The service and ambiance was not.

Our party of 4 went for brunch this past Sunday. Service was inconsistent and inattentive.
-3 of 4 water glasses would be filled.
-we had to ask to put in our food order
-we had to ask for coffee refills repeatedly
-one busser who clearly heard me call 3 times for attention as he walked by continued to walk away (perhaps a not my job attitude)
-servers gathered around the computer terminal to chat and hang out for long period instead of care for the patrons

As far as brunch is concerned the "fine dining" label does not apply to this restaurant. There was no acknowledgement of the birthday at the table nor acknowledgement of the "a table by the window" request that was made available at the time I made the reservation.

Brunch is more of a money grab. Perhaps dinner is different.
