The Lab Bar and Kitchen
I LOVE this place. My girlfriends and I celebrated my birthday and we were really impressed with the inside and particularly the outside patio. Our server for the evening was OUTSTANDING! Steve, is his name and he took care of us. Impeccable service, great food and drinks. I will be going back this weekend!
The food and drinks just weren't that great. Service is fine. More side options would be good. The Blazer drink was way to sweet.
Very good charcuterie board and fresh, warm pork rinds with the pimento cheese was off the hook
Great for big parties
La La is the best! She is so pleasant and went above and beyond what we expected! I would return because of her service alone.
Slow service and average food.
My boyfriend and only ordered two cocktails and one dessert. We waited 45 minutes and never received any of this. After we could not find our server we apologized to the hostess that we had to leave for other plans.
We were there for lunch on a Sunday. Very quiet time. The service was excellent but the food was very average at best. We would probably go back to try once more.
Atmosphere and decor is great. Service was good. Menu choices limited and food was fair to eat. Real Sweet Tea bar drink not good.
We had lunch at the lab after a doctors appointment at Kirkland Center.
Restaurant was very quite due to only four tables were occupied.
My wife’s hamburger was fair and she said it was dry. My brisket tacos were tremendous and order them again.
Glad we stopped.
Easy parking - hotel validates ticket in hotel parking.
Well it’s just ok.. the food was decent , the service was lackluster at best, I think they are trying to hard to have a gimmick or niche, instead of just simply good food and good service..
It is now one of mine and my husbands designated date night spots! The food was amazing and they have a great selection of local brews. Our waitress was great as well!
The food and drink was fabulous. The wait time for ordering and then getting food was not good.
Went here for a business meal. Our waitress was very attentive, as were the rest of the staff. The space is nice and I found the setup attractive.
The food was perfectly fine, about on par for this sort of restaurant. Two qualms. First, a minor one: it seemed to take a bit longer to receive our food given that there were only one or two other dining parties in the restaurant. This was minor, though. I didn’t mind because the seating was comfortable and staff attentive. The slightly bigger qualm was price relative to quality. As I said, the food was fine, even good. At least my meal. But, the prices were a tad higher than I’d expect to pay given the quality and what we received.
I’d come back because the food was fine, employees nice and attentive, and the ambiance nice. If you want good value for your meal, you want to go elsewhere. If you want an overall decent dining experience, than I’d recommend here, at least for lunch (I’ve yet to go for dinner).
I got anything Blazer on the menu and it was great. My family didn’t and they were disappointed. Our server was in the weeds and a manager had to help out. I may be back, but my family won’t. Plus, everything seemed a little too expensive.
We ordered the skillet cornbread which was burnt so we ended up not eating most of it. The crab cakes were dry and fishy and had the tiniest sauce which actually tasted good but there wasn’t enough of it. The chicken I had had a lot of cartilage on it. The fries were good and the drink however there was no alcohol in it. I wouldn’t go back.
Fun place clever theme
Great food, great atmosphere, awesome service, and even live music
Celebrated Mother’s Day and the food was great!!
La La was Fantastic! I traveled from Nashville for Mother’s Day to take my mom to brunch, The food was not what we expected but the waitress definitely made the experience worth the travel. Keep hiring the best talent in Birmingham.
Great food and fun atmosphere!
Made reservations for Easter dinner. When we arrived the place was quiet and almost empty. Our food was okay but the amount of food we received was not great. One got the chicken sandwich and the bun was soggy. I got chicken soup and it tasted like Campbell’s. Another got the flatbread and was disappointed in the size. 4 of us ate light meals and drank water, and our bill was over $80. Not bad food but bad for that price. The waitress was delightful and very helpful. Not her fault.
Christian was a great server. He recommended bacon wrapped shrimp, skillet cornbread and the blackberry cobbler. It was all delicious. Thanks, Christian.
Great Service - Had three separate appetizers and all were unique and very good.
Our family enjoyed our dinner and drinks. Our group shared several appetizers the b-deviled eggs, skillet cornbread, and the chef's board. Our entrees included street tacos, catfish sandwich, crispy chicken, and the Lab burger. We all left very satisfied and had a great overall experience.
Our food was delayed for over 30 minutes, and once it finally arrived, it was cold. The soup looked like it was out of a can, and the salad dressing was over-salted to the point of being inedible.
There was a lot of variety with the food, which was nice. The bacon wrapped shrimp were delicious, but there were only 5. The fried green tomatoes and the guacamame was good, but not super flavorful. The service was nothing to write home about, as the place was nearly empty but we waited awhile to get our food order taken.
Great food and service! Loved the decor and the prices were reasonable.
I had an amazing experience at The Lab Bar and Kitchen! Great food, friendly staff, and creatively chic atmosphere. I highly recommend trying the Buratta Melon or the Duck Leg Confit.
I couldn’t have asked for a better meal. I had a burger cooked to perfection, while my friend enjoyed the duck confit. Our server Victoria was really friendly and attentive. The iced tea was good and strong (no colored water here!). I’m looking forward to coming back. Great atmosphere, surprising for a hotel restaurant.
Food was different. I liked it ok. Very small portions. Drinks were very cool. Very cool atmosphere. The service however was terrible. We had to ask someone to hunt down our waitress multiple times. Hope that’s something they can improve on.
I have visited this new restaurant twice in the last week and I'm VERY impressed with the establishment. Good food (some great, i.e. the pimento cheese appetizer!! and the fried catfish), VERY nice staff, and very convenient.
(1) Music TOO LOUD for conversations. This should not be at Bar Levels for a noon business lunch. I had to ask twice to turn down the music. Was done once, then a manager came in 20 min and pushed the volume back up.
(2) No parking or valet. The minimum charge is $3.00 to park in the deck. I believe that the restaurant WILL NOT MAKE IT on just people staying in the hotel as guests & local business walk-ins. Having a policy of 1hr free parking for those that want to have a nice meal will markedly increase business, especially in the evenings.
We had high hopes for dinner at the Lab, but were very disappointed by the lackluster service (the salad we orderednever arrived - but we were billed for it; we waited 25 minutes for a cobbler for dessert) and by the lackluster food (steak was small, fries were tasteless, and arugula that accompanied the dish tasted old and wilted; my husband’s tacos were not very tasty). Literally the only thing I really enjoyed about this dinner was the wine.
I went there because the photos looked really good, but was disappointed. the Hamburgers looked good but my salad frisee was really small and not good. Also I did not like the oysters.......they had ice on them.
Our server was "ok" for most of the night but at the end of dinner she became kind of rude and made annoyed faces to us. The manager came by our table a few times to make sure the night was going well, so that was much appreciated. I ordered the tacos and they were great! And only $12 bucks. The drinks were a bit overpriced IMO but it was overall a fine experience.
Came for the first time tonight. The food was superb! I was a little put off by the lady the greeted us at the door. We had a 7:30 reservation and I arrived ten minutes early. When i said my name the lady looked at her watch and back at me and said “well you’re early.” I found this to be quite rude. She said it was going to be “awhile” until a table was ready. Luckily there were seats at the bar, and my friend and i just sat there. I really didn’t care to interact with that lady again. From that point the Night was perfect. The deviled eggs are incredible and the tuna poke was perfection. Loved the cocktails too. The entire staff behind the bar was friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Someone should speak to the lady who greeted everyone. She seemed exacerbated by people coming to dine. She’s the only reason I’m giving four stars. Otherwise it was perfect, and i will be back.
Over priced for the quality of the food. Drinks were pretty good.
Everything we experienced was great. Granted it was a Valentines Day Special with a set menu the food and service was tremendous. We enjoyed every moment especially the creative drinks.
