The Kraus Haus at The Fuzzy Pig
We thought the table was a bit small for tapas style, we felt overcrowded w dishes, & the water glasses would be easier if smaller.(i almost knocked over) overall, we really enjoyed everything!
Perfect addition to the greater Whitewater and lakes restaurant options. Great food, attentive service and nice setting. Hoping they might do some outdoor service in the summer. We will be back and think this could be our go to spot.
We had a really enjoyable evening. The best Old Fashioned I have had in the area. The food was excellent. The TAPAS concept gives you a chance to taste the variety of great ideas the chef has. Great service by a family and staff that cares about their customers. When we learned that the lemon cake was gone, Sari offered another possibility of strawberry cake that was not on the menu and it was excellent. She also gave us the last little bit of lemon cake that was left so we could taste it. We will be back again soon.
The food is phenomenal stacks up against any large City fine restaurant.
Service not so much, but hopefully they will work this out as we will definitely return
We tried Krause House for Valentines Day. The small plates we chose were perfectly prepared and delicious. Would totally recommend.
Incredible as always. We loved the wait person, atmosphere, incredible drinks and food!
Loved everything we were served! So amazing!
Unique upscale offerings by a talented chef in a charming atmosphere. Menu changes every couple months keeping it fresh. Worth the short drive off the beaten path.
Absolutely incredible. I work at UW-Whitewater, and your restaurant needs to be marketed better for international faculty bringing in candidates for interviews. The candidates would love it. They typically go to the Black Sheep, which is wonderful, but your restaurant will permit them to see the incredible environment/countryside around Whitewater, which is one reason I accepted my position at UW-Whitewater and was willing to leave the beautiful state of Massachusetts.
Enjoyed a date night away and had never tried this lovely place. We found it to be quite charming. The food was very good with slightly larger sized Tapas portions. We had Escargot and the Braunschwieger /Herring cold plate for appetizer. Although I thought the Escargot should be served with toast points to soak up the garlic butter both were very good. One of our main dishes was a pork cutlet with blue cheese mashed potatoes and mustard sauce (special of the day) Excellent! We also had baked french onion soup, and the wild mushroom popover. Both were good. Service was friendly and and prompt. They have a bar but we had our cocktails at the table. We also did not chose to have dessert but they sounded lovely. Lastly, We took a pot pie home for a family member that could not come with us,(hello? date night!) and was given a chance to taste.....YUMMY and enough for 2! Give it a try, it won't disappoint. My only disappointment was the cute little shops that are attached were not open. Guess we will have to come back!
Excellent service and amazing tasting food! We had grandchildren and they loved the salmon and mussels.
Great diverse menu. Food and service was exceptional
Very friendly, efficient, helpful staff. (BREE). Very delicious menu: rack of lamb, filet mignon, sole, onion soup, forest popover, twice baked potato. Apple crisp so-so. And chocolate pie good. Looking forward to going again. Ambience charming.
Great service, excellent food.
Excellent small dishes great for sharing. Comfortable space and friendly personnel.
This was the 2nd time we've been here and it's been outstanding each time. Over half the menu was different from the first time we were here which was great because we could try so many more new things. Some highlights tonight were the escargot, the root vegetable plate, and the baked French onion soup. Everything we have had each visit has been above average to great. Haven't had anything we didn't enjoy. Coming from the Nashville food scene this is becoming a welcome staple in to our foodie life.
Food and service was very good. Selection of food was interesting.
Food was amazing. Great service, friendly atmosphere. Planning to come again soon.
You gotta go try this place. Sure it's rural, a lil hard to find, nicely funky BUT great food and atmosphere from employees who care. We need good , wholesome, thought out dishes like Kraus Haus is producing. Support them and you won't be sorry.
We were dining with friends for my husband’s bday— and always love a new place. Kraus House was the find of the year! Our server Robbie was knowledgeable and engaging, making great suggestions, and allowing our friends(newcomers to tapas) time to relax and enjoy the experience. The Charcuterie plate was thought out carefully and executed very well, the Bruschetta A+, but the MUSSELS.....oh the mussels, and the crostini were fantastic. French Onion Soup good to the last drop, and the filet was cooked perfectly and kissed with a perfect Demi glacé. A night to remember! And to repeat and repeat!
Off the beaten path and tucked back on a family farm but surprisingly close to town. A true hidden gem in the Whitewater area. Well worth a request from Siri for easy driving directions. Fuzzy Pig is only open Thursday through Saturday for dinner and brunch on Sunday. As the word has begun to spread about this newly reopened restaurant option, it has been more crowded so I recommend reservations as seating is limited. The Tapas style restaurant has something for everyone and even catered to and accommodated a family member with dairy allergies. Outstanding cuisine, surprisingly large portions for a Tapas restaurant at very reasonable prices. We have now dined there 3 times and will definitely return to try the new and frequently changing menu items they offer.
Surprise find and wonderful experience. Filet and crab cakes were outstanding. Would come back again and worth the 1 hour drive. Glad to see that the dining room was full.
The Krause House is new to the surprisingly good Whitewater restaurant scene, and well worth finding. The menu is fresh and rotated frequently. Stand-outs on the night of our visit were; a truly great French Onion Soup, a wonderful shrimp wrapped in prosciutto, and a flavorful Asian Potsticker dish. On this night we enjoyed a large bruschetta plate, a 5-cheese cheese bread and a very nice filet with fresh-whipped potatoes. The staff were very attentive. We were greeted by the Executive Chef as we stepped out of the cold drizzle onto the back porch of the home of the Krause family farm, and the waitress was wonderful; a glowing personality and fun to talk with.
If you have ventured out to the Fuzzy Pig for this little dining gem yet, you owe it to yourself to give it a try.
Great to have a tapas place in the rural Whitewater area. Food is very good
Heard that Chef Rudy was at a new restaurant and had to go. Have had the pleasure of enjoying his excellent cuisine at another restaurant and looked forward to enjoying it once more. Was not disappointed! We tried a number of the tapas offerings. The Gouda popover was delicious, the mussels were wonderful! The fillet was tender with a flavorful red wine Demi glacé on top of smashed potatoes. The crab cakes, yummy!
A little off the beaten track but worth the drive. The Fuzzy Pig is an antique and gift store that also carries some women’s clothes. It really is on the old family farm. At this time of the year they have three very scary haunted houses that are too scary for kids.
Great farm to table, American tapas. Prices with drinks were very reasonable. Loved our waitress!
Best of luck Chef Krause.
Great food, Great service. Will definitely be back.
Everything was excellent! Can not wait to go back.Drinks,Food,Dessert all stood out.
