From the view, to the food, to the waitress this place was outstanding. Our waitress Stefana was amazing. I would highly recommend this place. We will be back!
It's got a nice vibe. Good menu. We enjoyed our lunch. My only complaint is it was too loud.
Mother’s Day dinner that went right
Took my wife here for mother's day as we were in from Florida for a conference. I was very impressed with all food and service and would highly recommend this establishment to anyone!
Fantastic food and service!!
Loved the food. It was innovative and yummy. Lots of interesting flavors! The hush puppies were to die for, so was the snapper and the pork chop. My only issue was the piped in music was way too loud. It was difficult to have a conversation. Overall, we'd go back!!
Mother’s Day dinner.
Burthday to Maried fantastic
Despite having a reservation that requested a window seat and arriving 15 minutes early, the host seated my two clients, my business colleague from California and myself in a back room with no windows. It was cold and had just two other diners. Service took two hours for lunch.
We were dressed in suits. I believe that the young host discriminated against us because we were in our 50s. I have eaten here before, but will not return.
My mother owns a restaurant and I mentioned this experience to her and she suggested that I call the manager. I did, but no one bothered to return my call. PS- this is my first ever negative review of a business.
We made. Reservation but obviously they cannot seat you on time and we had to wait 15 minutes!
Then no waiter showed up for 25 minutes and we had to call for one.
Food was ok but service was very poor.
Sure why it was busy.
Fabulous small plates that we shared and turned into a full meal. Wonderful flavors!
It was fine.
Very noisy (ghastly too-loud music and echoing room). The food is good but overpriced, as are the wines by the glass. The service is willing but the kind of casual trendy that verges on indifference.
Lovely restaurant right on the river walk. The atmosphere was great and the food was good!!
The only complaint is I’m from the south and the grits could use some work. BUT I will be back!!
This is a really lovely location, right on the riverbank, in an iconic old building. We had a lovely meal. Our waitress was really friendly and helpful. However the first three bottle of wine we selected were unavailable and the one then suggested by our waitress was about 10-12 dollars more expensive than our choices.
Also our reservation was for 8pm. At least 20 minutes were used up on the wines issues. As we were finishing our main courses, the bill was produced, unrequested. We asked about dessert//coffee and were told that the kitchen closed at 9pm and that no dessert or coffee were possible. . I feel this issue should have been highlighted before hand.
However, great location, lovely ambience, and v friendly server.
Nice Restaurant close to the river. Food was good, unfortunatelly the steak was luttle to hard and not cooked as ordered.
Delicious fresh food with the perfect serving size and amazing views of the Chicago river. love the atmosphere not too formal but more relaxed . Will definitely be back
Great place for a group work dinner! Food was great and the location was perfect.
Very enjoyable experience. Good food great location near the river.
The Kitchen has created a modern hush puppy, which are to die for! And I have to say that I absolutely found The best burger in Chicago. De-lish!
Nice river views and ambiance but we had to beg for service. I asked for avocado toast instead of the mushroom toast on the menu but was told no- even though they had avocados and toast! I also asked for an iced latte. They said they could only do Iced coffee. I had them bring me a hot latte and cup of ice to do it myself!
Food was just Ok - we hoped for more.
I forgot our servers name but some of us ordered bottomless mimosas and he kept pouring that drink! Loved it.
Great location if you are going to a play. Good, but pricey cocktails.
The food was ok. Short ribs were fatty and it was about 1 rib for $33. Lettuce fish tacos were just ok. The breading was heavy on the fish
I had a reservation for two. I was seated at a table for two at a line of tables which were very close together, about 2 feet apart. I asked to be moved, because I didn't want to eat my dinner with strangers and asked about a table near the window. I was told these were reserved for parties of 4, but he would check to see what was available. He came back saying a table in the middle of restaurant was available if I wanted it. I declined and my date and I decided to stay where we were. A few minutes later, another couple was seated next to us and immediately were not pleased with their table either, because we were so close to each other. They got up and asked to be moved and were moved to the table by the window which I was told was not available to me, because it was for parties of 4. Restaurants need to get a clue with seating and stop trying to jam as many tables into a space as they can. Most of us don't want to eat dinner with strangers and would like some privacy. The food was decent here, but small portions, there are a lot of choices for restaurants in the city, I probably wouldn't come back to this one.
Absolutely outstanding, as always.
Great service for our group of ten, really flexible on the foods. One of my favourite brunch joints in Chi town.
Great place with a great view ant the bartenders are amazing
Fantastic. Great for a large group. Good cocktails and lovely view of the river.
Great place for a celebration. The menu is amazingly diverse and fresh and the staff attentive and helpful.
Always a first choice for business dinners with out of town guests! The menu is constantly changed to reflect the seasons. During this visit, several colleagues commented on the uncommonly good taste of common fare such as hummus. The Kitchen delivers a memorable dining experience every time.
Nice but not exactly what I expected.
I planned a day with my family for my mom's 75th birthday. It needed to be easy and straight forward and make a lot of very opinionated people happy. Lunch at The Kitchen was the last stop and they did not disappoint! The food was great and the service was top notch. I highly recommend the fish tacos, the shrimp hush puppies and the burger. I wish I remembered our server's name but we started with someone who had been there a while and then were switched to someone who had just completed her training. She did awesome putting up with a very loud and sarcastic group.
The best part (for me) was that they were very accommodating when I asked if I could drop off a cake for my mom. They brought it out when I asked AND with a candle in it (because I forgot one) and they cut it into perfect sized pieces. Some restaurants don't like serving other places desserts and I'm so grateful that these guys were ok with it. My mom loved all of it. Thanks guys!
Felt ignored the entire time. After 10 min someone took orders. Ordered coffee which took 15 min to come out without creamer. Food was pretty good but not worth dealing with the poor service .
Excellent food and service. I appreciate having the calories listed on the menu for each item.
The food was excellent! Our waiter was very nice but once we got out food she sidnt come back for a long time....made us a bit late getting back from lunch. Everything else was amazing.
VERY VERY LOUD RESTAURANT. VERY HARD TO HAVE CONVERSATIONS.
Great food, fantastic location and great views.
One of the most reliable high quality restaurants in Chicago. Never disappoints!
They handle the lunch crowd very well. Attentive. Friendly. Very good.
Beautiful spot. Good was average at best.
Great experience, from the food to the service. Hush puppies were fantastic.
