Beyond wonderful, apps to dessert.
Very nice wait staff. Very pretty, great breakfast! Croissants were wonderful!
Food and service (Dani) was excellent. Took my sister for dinner who was visiting. Dani knew her wines and the menu to make great suggestions.
We enjoyed our meal. The staff was warm and friendly and made a good wine recommendation.
All the bets,
Went on a recommendation and it was delicious food. Great setting and ambiance. The wait staff took awhile to come over and didn't really explain the restaurant or that it had an upstairs or bar attached. I think they could have been more informative after we said it's our first time here.
I had read about the mission of The Kitchen and the Next Door restaurants about a year ago, and I made sure to include it on my trip to Colorado. It was every bit as good as advertised. I particularly enjoyed the light color scheme inside, which I felt contributed to a positive, happy lunch environment. The Bolognaise and salad were delicious. My friend let me have a bite of the lamb burger, which was sensational.
I have to hand it to the kitchen and their staff, they go out of their way to make a special dining experience with great food. Thanks for making a special night better with your efforts.
Superb service and atmosphere. The food was very good with the appetizers being the highlight. The entrees were good but not outstanding. Just a few small misses which would not deter me from going again.
One of the long-standing, superior restaurants in Boulder. A diverse menu of creative dishes. Everything we ordered was very good and attractively presented. The service started out very attentive, personal and professional. But as they got busier (we came at 5pm--opening time) very quickly, the service began to suffer--harder to locate our server, less attention to details. Nevertheless, to not dine here from time to time would be punishing yourself--overall the Kitchen is worthy of its fine reputation.
Very disappointing. Recommended by a friend. Ordered a roasted chicken salad which was described as breast and it was just some shredded chicken that you would find in chicken soup and was a mix of breast and dark meat. The order was very skimpy on both the greens and the chicken. Had to ask twice for a refill on bread.
Service was very average at best . One of the parties were there a few minutes prior to the rest and sat around for 10-15 minutes before a waiter came by to ask for a drink order.
Virtually no ambiance in this restaurant.
On a positive side, the fries were excellent.
With the abundance of good restaurants in Boulder, I'm sorry to say that this wasn't a good experience and won't be back.
But the way, this was for lunch, but I don't think I'll be back to check out the dinner menu.
GREAT food, excellent service....waitress was knowledgable, friendly and helped make this an excellent dining experience
My husbands steak was delicious!! It should be for the $44 dollar price tag. I had a homemade mushroom pasta which was awful!!!! We had oysters that were also delicious, but over all for the price we would not go back. So many other restaurants to chose from.
The food was very good. If The Kitchen wants to continue to call themselves out as "a relaxed American Bistro dedicated to serving delicious, real food sourced from American farmers" then they should not serve farmed salmon, period.
It doesn't really matter what you order here. Everything is beautifully presented and the flavors are well balanced. Service is excellent and the ambiance very pleasant. It's easy to have a conversation at normal voice levels. A favorite in Boulder.
Seated in a timely manner, prompt and attentive service. Main courses were very good. Though, some of the starter items left a lot to be desired. Overall, good experience.
This is The Kitchen flagship and it remains top-of-the-line even as Kimball Musk expands. Three of us ate a scrumptious small dinner before going to the theater. The service was smooth, charming, and focused on us instead of themselves. Each of us was very pleased with the entre -- one baked accord squash, one pasta dish, and one locally raised pork chop -- all prepared and cooked perfectly. We saw Kimball Musk in the open kitchen looking closely at all the activities. We felt like saluting him but respected his privacy. The wine list is excellent, not a huge selection but very well chosen.
Delicious food as usual but extremely loud (of course it was Saturday night). Our server was so busy it took quite awhile to get the check, even after a specific request.
Always a favorite of ours, especially when we have earned bucks from Open Table to spend on extra drinks and food we might not ordinarily try. The grilled bread and mussels are the best tasting I've ever had, anywhere. We added the garlic fries, really delicious. Bubbles & wines, beautifully selected. Entrees and pasta were superb, bread pudding... was crazy sweet, parfait would have been a better choice. But, the 10 yr tawny port made it all perfect. Thank you to the Kitchen for always sharing with us an enchantingly delicious evening.
The Kitchen is clean, fresh, friendly and efficient at preparing delicious food using local ingredients. It's only drawback is the clatter and chatter that reverberates off the natural ceiling and walls. If you grew up going to the school cafeteria you will feel right at home.
Great lunch, good selection, attentive staff, reasonable prices.
We've been coming to The Kitchen for a number of years, usually on special occasions or with out of town guests. Simply The Kitchen always excels.
Terrific restaurant on Pearl Street. Excellent inventive cuisine - everything was very tasty. Service was also excellent.
Both Kitchen restaurants are good. Pricey but worth it. My husband's chicken was a bit overcooked but the sauce and sides made up for it - sort of. The wait staff is attentive and very knowledgeable and the food is locally sourced and very fresh. My salmon they recommended by cooked medium so I went with their recommendation which turned out medium as they said, but I wished I ordered a tad less cooked. It's a "foodie" experience but as with any restaurant, when they get busy.....
I was surprised at the very limited brunch menu. Not many choices and not especially interesting. I had remembered it as being a much more inspiring menu.
Excellent as usual. I've been going to The Kitchen regularly for years and it never fails to impress.
Fantastic food and service! The best pasta ever have! They created an amazing mix of pork beef and lamb. The steak and the summer parfait are also tasty! Would love to have one more dinner with them if we had time. Strongly recommended!
Great food and service. Really enjoyed being there.
We celebrated our 25th anniversary at the Kitchen. I lean towards vegetarian and my partner does not but is lactose intolerant They accommodated for our concerns and delivered a wonderful meal, with complimentary sparkling wine to celebrate the evening.
Solid food and causal atmosphere
Everything about this experience was awesome, the food was creative and delicious, and much more reasonably priced than we expected. The service was great and we had an amazing time.
We had heard so much about this restaurant so we were excited to try- none of our dishes were first rate compared to the reputation this restaurant has. Both the chicken and the pasta dish with mushrooms tended to be dry - the mussel appetizer was good- our wait staff was great though-
This was our 4th visit to the Kitchen. We dine here whenever we are in Boulder. Our favorite dish here is the tomato soup---the best tomato soup I've ever had. We asked the waiter if we could get the recipe and 5 minutes later the manager handed me the printed recipe. Evertyhing we ate this visit was excellent---a wonderful pasta with wild mushrooms and chicken in a sauce infused with calabrian chiles.
We will continue to eat at The kitchen whenever we are in Boulder.
This is my favorite restaurant in downtown Boulder. I have eaten here numerous times and have had a great meal very single time. I especially enjoyed the local ingredients and the creativity of the chef. I highly recommend.
Absolutely fabulous!!! The meal and service were first rate, top to bottom.
The Kitchen is a lovely space with great ambience. The food was not up to the level I expected. The deserts, however, were the best part of the meal. The table service was excellent.
We loved our lunch at the Kitchen! Great fresh produce and nice menu choices.
Overall dinner was a positive experience. We were celebrating an anniversary and they bought dessert. Somethings were fabulous like the steak entree and burrata starter while others like the salmon had to be sent back because it arrived cold.
Although the ratings are high for this establishment I was very disappointed in the quality of the food and the service
Food was excellent and not unneeded large portion sizes
Overrated. For the price we paid, the food was rather pedestrian.
