What a delightful find in our own backyard, Shelby Farms! We wanted a casual place to have brunch, and found The Kitchen via Open Table. Quite impressed with the cocktail choices, menu, and ambiance. The menu is fresh, has a nice variety of food, and the quality was quite good. Recommend without reservation.
Went for my birthday brunch and it was so nice. I really liked the special way I was treated by the staff. I started getting "Happy Birthday" from the moment I walked in the door and they had a nice surprise on the table for me.
We added 2 additional people to our reservation at the door and The Kitchen staff was very accommodating. The food was delicious too- I ate the French Toast for brunch
The food was good. The decor was better. The view was to die for.
Wonderful place to dine. Love the outside patio! Best patio in Memphis!
"The Kitchen" is very clean and open. Decor is appealing. Service is excellent and the food is very good. Scenic view is excellent.
We've been to The Kitchen a few times now and get fantastic service every time! That, coupled with the good food, is enough to bring us back again and again. They were very accommodating this time as we were celebrating a birthday and brought in a cake from Muddy's. They provided plates and silverware while maintaining awesome customer service!
It was a very disappointing experience. The food was overpriced and mediocre. The chicken was dangerously undercooked. The accompanying vegetables were bland. The scallops were slightly better, but I have had better elsewhere.
Brought family from out of state to visit my favorite Memphis restaurant. We were not disappointed.
They LOVED the view (sunset over the lake!), the food (ribeye, pork chop, bolognese, deviled eggs, sticky toffee pudding....yum!) and service. This is a favorite place for any occasion or no occasion. Dressed up or dressed down, it’s a perfect restaurant to enjoy great dining and get together time.
We arrived about 2:15 PM on a Saturday afternoon for a late brunch. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. Hostess, waitress, servers, everyone was very nice and polite the food was great the atmosphere was very relaxing. A little bit noisy with people's kids and dogs in the outdoor seating area that we chose, but I think those were that time of the day expectations. The location is perfect for that atmosphere at Shelby Farms.
I don't think you can answer anything else great meal great service relaxing time.
Food was mediocre. We waited over an hour and 15 minutes for our food. They weren’t busy, as it was 2:00 PM. Service was slow for us and for everyone around us as well it seemed like. Cool atmosphere, but would have to be a special reason for me to return. Not too impressed honestly.
A friend and I had dinner and drinks on the patio, loved everything about it. Can’t wait to go again!!
Usually heat but tonight was not. Service was slow and the appetizers which were salads came out at the same time as the entrees. Overall just an okay experience.
Everything about the evening was perfect, except the food which was underwhelming. The garlic fries were great as were the cocktails. The server was amazing and the staff could not have been more attentive. The muscles were lukewarm, the pasta was too salty and there was no cheese for mac and cheese or grilled cheese sandwiches. NO CHeese???
We would all go again and hope for better food selections.
Love this place. Cuban sandwich was TO DIE FOR. Really tasty, really memorable. Also, the Brussels sprouts appetizer was excellent. The salad greens that were served with the pork were too salty, though. Some of the greens towards the bottom were ok, but those at the top were inedible. I really like the idea with a fresh, bright salad like that, but the execution wasn't there.
Still love this place, I'll for sure be back.
Service was great. Very nice and personable. They also put up with the mess that our baby made. Food was also excellent. I think it gets better every time we go.
Great Brunch and family meal!
We sat on the porch this glorious nonrainy Sunday. We enjoyed pastries, burgers and french toast. Everthing and everyone was excellent. We can't wait to go back while the weather is still cool.
My friends and I were exceedingly pleased with the level of service and quality of food.
I am so excited that there is this perfectly wonderful place that is available for EVERYONE!!!! It is evidentl that there was an incredible amount of intensive planning with plenty attention to detail. It is my opinion that every bit of money put into the development of this project was well spent. The residents of Memphis and surrounding area have a lot to be grateful for having the opportunity to experience nature in such a ultrafine environment!! This will be one I ofthe first places I will take out of town guests.
Great place!! Third time to visit & will come again!!
We had a terrific dinner at The Kitchen. The bar and bartenders are excellent and really make some fantastic libations. Very attentive and informative--not smug like many bartenders can be. We had a very good dinner and enjoyed the ambiance. I am especially sensitive to loud restaurants and the Kitchen was NOT loud. We were aware of other patrons for sure, but we could hear each other speak without shouting or constantly saying "excuse me?" Probably the only weak link was an overly vinegary salad, but other than that, every dish was really good.
Beautiful sunset can be viewed from any table! Incredible food!
Great atmosphere for casual dining with an amazing view of the walking trail and lake.
Amazing as always!
We always enjoy out time at The Kitchen. Sometimes the food is better than other visits. This time the food was good but not great. We got the same things we always do for brunch but the carnitas were barely warm (the biscuit was cold), there was not much meat at all, and barely any hollandaise sauce. It made a very dry and tasteless dish when other times it has been so delicious. A side order of grits was very good. The atmosphere and view are always pleasant and make The Kitchen a great place to visit. Overall we enjoyed ourselves but the food wasn’t as good as some other visits.
You really can’t beat the ambiance, and overall the food is good- but expensive for what you get. Appetizers are super small, expensive and way too salty. In fact I have been at the Kitchen a dozen times and they ALWAYS use too much salt. On another note, they keep changing their dog policy on the patio. Now they do t allow dogs - which stinks. Why not extend the patio for dog owners. We like to drink wine too.
It was so good. it was a great restaurant and love it every time.
Excellent ambiance, food and service. Good views of a pond. Great outdoor patio. Variety of food choices with good cocktails and drinks as well.
The hostesses were not the greatest. I made a reservation for 8:15, came in at 5:50 and was willing to wait if there was a wait. I just wanted my open table points, and that was the earliest reservation available online. I was told they couldn’t seat us until 8:15. I should have been treated as a walk in like everyone else. No one else had to wait that walked in. They continued to seat other walk in tables and made us wait. We chose to sit at bar. One of them then approached us and gave us a table about 15/20 minutes later after I had been watching these tables being sat and made us feel like an inconvenience. The restaurant was about 75% empty. It never filled up, not even close. There was no need to treat us that way.
Our server and the food made up for that rude first entry experience. I understand waiting 15/20 minutes if that is the true wait time for walk-ins. But being told we would have to wait 2 and a half hours until 8:15 was absolutely ridiculous. And no one else got put on a wait...
Our 3rd visit and we love the food and the ambiance. Mary was our server for the 2nd time and we love her. Attentive and friendly and made sure we had everything we needed.
Exceptional food and great service ... Recommend the “Lamb sausage” in the starters and definitely the “Grapefruit Smash” from the cocktails section! It was my husbands 30th birthday and they give you a free dessert and that’s really thoughtful ... I am going back again soon.
Enjoyed the food and dining experience.
We were happy with the attention to detail with our service and the atmosphere of the resturant.
Have been to The Kitchen many times for lunch and dinner. Did not know they did brunch on Saturdays and Sundays! It was delicious!!! I will be back!
Food was barely lukewarm and extremely salty. I like salt but it was over the top
Food was good. The food took way to long to get to the table. But when we asked for the check it was pronto. The manager, Ken, was nice.
The food was pretty good, but I felt it was quite overpriced. I have had better food for less money at other venues in town.
Excellent, imaginative food and generous portions.....the view is wonderful, no matter the weather.
