The King's Kitchen Ratings and Reviews
We had an amazing private room up front for 8 of us. They accommodated the kids and we had a blast. Our waiter was amazing! The food was incredible! Clean plates all around. Shrimp and grits was delicious, as was pot roast. Wish I could remember waiter’s name. Y’all... go here! Ask for the tall black dude with glasses that dresses so GQ... Jerome maybe. He was hysterical!
We’ve been dining at KIng’s Kitchen for several years. One of our favorite places! Great comfort food. Great service. Great mission. Everyone should eat at KK at least once to support for their mission. Oh by the way, order the bread pudding desert - it’s fabulous.
We stayed in Charlotte for the weekend at the Marriott which is across the street from King's Kitchen. Ate there two nights and both meals were spectacular. Scallops, steak, fried chicken, oysters, coconut cake are to die for...Please note the manager is an exceptional person and was very patient with my inability to manuever the open table app. Incredible service and great atmosphere.
This was our first time dining at The King's Kitchen and it did not disappoint. The pimento cheese appetizer was delicious and we enjoyed their beer and wine offerings. I ordered a NY Strip special and my husband had the fried chicken. Both were really good. We would recommend this restaurant to others! We were on the way to the theater after and were in and out in a timely fashion.
We had the fried oysters appetizer which were the best I've ever had. I had the scallops which were outstanding and my wife had a crispy flounder special. All of the food was excellent with flavors that made you savor every bite. We split the apple pie with vanilla ice cream which was very good, but the pie was room temperature instead of warm...that was our only disappointment for the entire meal. One thing to note is they do not serve cocktails, but do have beer and wine. We enthusiastically recommend this restaurant which is a "Non-Profit" and we will be back the next time we are in Charlotte.
I have been to King’s Kitchen a number of times over the years. The food is always excellent & Wednesday night was no exception. I also enjoy going to the King’s Kitchen to support their mission & always make an extra contribution to support this effort. Thank you Jim Noble for making a difference in so many lives while providing us with such excellent food.
We have known about the King's Kitchen for years but living out of town we have just not gone there until this Thankgiving Eve visit. We were pleasantly surprised at both the level of gourmet dining and professional service. We spent a pleasant evening enjoying schrimp and grits prepared with just the right amount of "heat" and perfectly sauteed scallops we have to say that were the best we have ever had. Our waiter could not have been more helpful or knowledgable. We were blessed to eat there.
We will certainly return.
We had a large party (8ppl) and tried multiple times to call for the reservation, but the phone call was cut off each time. We ended up booking 2 parties of 4 on Open Table and then asking the restaurant in person if they could push the tables together. Instead of accommodating our request straightaway, the host was immediately defensive and wanted to know what phone number we called (it was the same one posted on Open Table and the restaurant's website). We didn't blame anyone at the restaurant for the phone failure, so the appropriate thing would simply be to see if he could accommodate our table request instead of being defensive or shifting blame. But other than that, all of the rest of the staff was incredibly accommodating and friendly, so we would be more than happy to dine here again.
Stopped in a few minutes after 5pm, and were promptly seated back by the kitchen, despite being the first to dine. Waitress was not engaged, and barely made eye contact. She did her job and was relatively attentive, but almost robotic in her demeanor.
Food was good, but not deserving the rave reviews we read. Fried chicken was a little tough, but nice flavor. Sides were pretty standard. Exception was Mac and Cheese, which held up well.
Offered dessert menu and asked for Banana Pudding. Was told it had sold out at 5:45pm. She then offered that the chef was trying something new and it didn't work.
No other desserts suggested, just brought us our bill.
Again, all was ok, but we'll check out other choices in the future before returning.
We were attending a conference and wanted to experience Charlotte cuisine. The catfish I had was delicious, the waiter was charming and efficient. We had originally had four people, but three other colleagues showed up and our waiter accommodated us. It was a lovely evening. Dr. Dorothy Sisk
Great food at a fair price considering the profits go to a great cause. The shrimp & grits were the best I’ve had since eating them in Charleston for the first time years ago! Will definitely order them again. Pork chop had a nice char and was very tasty. Outstanding service by Kiara!
