Our reservation was on a Saturday at 5:15pm, a great time to avoid crowds and noise. Fried chicken came out within 5 minutes of ordering, and was excellent as usual ... my spouse and I think it's the best in Charlotte. Also got a "Southern Classic" plate of 3 sides for $9 to share. All were delicious, but the collards really stood out as exceptionally good being just a smidge sweeter than we usually get there.
Ordered "cheesecake" for dessert, which in actuality was more like a crumb cake made with soft ricotta cheese. It contained almonds, which was fine for us but could be a problem for a customer with a nut allergy. Delicious, but not quite as described by our server in person or on that night's dessert menu.
Looking forward to our next visit to this place, one of the few good meal deals located in uptown Charlotte!
The food was delicious and the service by Devo was excellent.
The service was excellent (I forgot our servers name but she had a lovely shade of pink hair) Food was delicious, as always. Really enjoyed our visit and will definitely be back.
Excellent food and service! Helping the community as well.
Some of the best food I had in Charlotte
I'm one of those customers that's not easy to please, I guess. My expectations are prompt service, tasty food and friendly staff. While I don't think I'm asking for a lot, since COVID it is indeed a lot to ask for. People are tired and stressed out. For those that have to serve the public, this is an especially hard time. That said, Kings Kitchen was an exceptional experience.
We went on a double date with our friends, and both our kids. We had a drink spill, kids making a mess and sizable order and yet the professionals at Kings Table were able to accommodate with fantastic service and smiles. To parents, that's a huge stress reliever and allowed us to enjoy the food which was on point.
We ordered fried chicken, biscuits, corn bread, greens, drinks, beets, mac n cheese and other things I can't quite remember. The coconut cake was solid, and the gelato was impressive. As an Italian who's eaten some of the best gelato in Italy and in Austin, TX (Dolce Neve) I can happily report that the gelato at Kings Table holds its own and that is not easy.
The biscuits were next level and the fried chicken was so good I had to slow clap.
My only gripe was that Kings Table does not serve liquor as I was hoping for an old fashion.
Shrimp & grits was great, mac and cheese exceptional. Great service.
Great waitress! I got the shrimp and grits and was impressed with the portion. We also got biscuits for the table but I think next time I would try the cornbread.
Very nice location and love the mission. Shrimp and grits was good but a little on the spicy side and I don’t usually do spicy foods. My boyfriend had the catfish - it’s just one piece of garnished fish and he had to order sides separately. Wish that a side came with it. Otherwise, service was great and we really enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere.
We’ve eaten here several times and every time is excellent. My parents came this time and loved it and they can’t wait to come back.
One of my top 3 favorite restaurants in Charlotte!
Biscuits were salty. Shrimp and grits somehow had very little flavor. Definitely not the classic southern meal it was advertised as. I expected more flavorful food for the price and reputation I’d heard.
Fabulous food, service, and ambiance. The food is a pricy, but it's for a good cause!
Really, really appreciate the mission of this place. Food was very, very good, but the value of the portions was not as good as it should be. Ideally sides should be part of the entree instead of a separate offering.
Great food, great service, great location. Makes comfort food elegant!
Wonderful food. Excellent service. Always so glad to spend my money on such a wonderful cause.
I absolutely loved my experience! My fiancé loved his dinner and, I was very pleased with the shrimp and grits. It was the first time that I’ve tasted shrimp and grits that taste like my hometown dish! Thank you for a amazing experience! (Charleston SC)
Absolutely love this review!!!!!!
The restaurant and it's mission are wonderful. The wait staff was not the best, however, the food was wonderful. Will definitely come back.
Had a great lunch with my daughter and her best friend before we headed over to Trans-Siberian Orchestra! What a wonderful experience!
Thank you Peggy for visiting us before an exciting evening out with your daughter.
Great experience. Every-time we go!
Great food, experience and service from staff. Will definitely go back again!
The food was out of this world and the atmosphere was great! The coconut cake is a must!
Fantastic food and great service.
Food was made from scratch and included some of the best biscuits I'd ever had. I will be back!
Great food. Great service. Only complaint was that is was very loud.
Great experience! Service was great and Food was excellent!
Amazing service and atmosphere. Staff was awesome.
The food was amazing, service was phenomenal, and everything was so amazing!
My wife and I had 6:00 PM reservation on the 2nd - arrived early and were seated at 5:30. Restaurant was not very crowded and for some reason we were given a two-person table in the back by kitchen. Would have preferred a larger table in the front - a little more vibe with Trade Street windows. But service was very nice and food was prompt and very good.
A real nice experience for our first time there.
Service was great, and the food was good and served in a timely manner.
Excellent service and food. Crowded but clearly because it's a local favorite. Highly recommended.
Thank you for your kind words! We had a very busy night that evening! So happy to hear you enjoyed your experience!
We went to King's Kitchen for the first time on a Sat evening before a show a Belk Theater. It was very nice, casual and comfortable, with good food, reasonable prices, and excellent service. We will be back.
Thank you Steve!!
First time visiting. Had reservation and was sat immediately upon arrival. Food was delicious (pork chop and wife had beef. Collards were suprisingly sweet but spicy, green beans and mac n cheese were good too. I would recommend and will be back next time I'm in Charlotte.
We love reviews like this!!!!!
Good was excellent and waitress was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about menu.
Thank you Susan!
Stay cation for my wife and I
We have dined at The King’s kitchen before and had wonderful meals. This was our first time post covid and the menu feels more limited and our food was lukewarm with no attention paid to presentation. Appreciate the ala carte options but not eager to return.
My first visit. Food was very good and service was excellent!
We enjoyed our meal and the ambience was perfect. Perfect location as well.
It was really good. The people outside of my waiter where really attentive and nice. Food came quick. My waiter was a little to busy with his big table to really give us the best services possible but the other people that where helping made up for his lack of service, even after the big table was gone.
Great service. Delicious food! Quiet atmosphere.
Our first visit to The Kings Kitchen was wonderful. I chose the peanut salad and shrimp and grits. They were unique, delicious, and plentiful and with lovely presentation. My husband chose Aunt Beaut's fried chicken, a side salad, and green beans. He was pleased with his dinner too. We did not have room for dessert but hope to try some next time. We will certainly be going back. The hostess and our server Deliah were so pleasant and personable. It was a great dining experience.
My wife and I have eaten here twice. Once 4 years ago before seeing the Book of Mormon, on one of our first dates. And then for the second time tonight before we went to see Rent. The food and service were amazing. We hope to make it a tradition as we have season tickets to Blumenthal this year. Love the cause and love the food!
