The King's Kitchen
Whether you sit down to a heaping plate of Aunt Beaut’s pan fried chicken or opt for our Chef’s pick of fresh fish daily, know that here, our cuisine extends well beyond delicious: it is truly good for the soul.
Located in the heart of uptown Charlotte with a mission of bringing hope to those most in need, King’s Kitchen is a non-profit, southern-inspired restaurant that doubles as a ministry to give hope, dignity and a warm meal to those most in need. Dine well knowing that each meal purchased directly contributes to a free meal to our homeless neighbors as well as job training to give others a new lease on life.
Enjoyed being there. Thank you for your service and great food.
A great experience. It was my 5-6th time in the past couple years. I live in Fort Mill so I don’t frequent downtown Charlotte in the weekends because it’s pretty busy. We do love this restaurant for its food and it’s dedication to helping others. We’re also Christians and I loved meeting our server Bethany who was very attentive and helpful. Great time for me and my friends from out of town. I’ll definitely return to eat there again. My only 4 rating is due to the noise level but it’s well worth it!!
Very nice dining experience , looking forward to the next time ! Excellent food, local beer, we were very impressed !
SErvice was very warm and friendly and accommodating, not to mention professional. The ambiance would have been much better without the ubiquitous televisions, which have become a part of American restaurant life like fleas on camels. I understand TV's around the bar, but everywhere?? Why would we go to a restaurant just to give half our attention to something we could be better doing at home? TV's are for lonely people that go to bars by themselves. The food was very good, but the value was not great... the scallops were by far the best thing we tried, but they were $20 without any sides or veggies. They should come as a meal. The fried chicken was excellent, and all of the sides were very good. For southern classics, however, the prices should be more like the prices of the biscuits and cornbread ($1), which were excellent AND great deals. I suppose on a downtown corner like that the overhead will demand high prices, but if the prices are high, the elegance should follow, and they should have a gourmand menu rather than just southern classics and a few fancy a la carte things.
Food was pretty good. The fried chicken breast, fried catfish, black eyed peas and Mac and cheese were delicious. I did order the gumbo which I sent back. I did not like that at all! The greens were ok, It tasted like it had sugar in it. Overall the service was good and so was the foid. I would return if I’m ever in Charlotte again.
The food wasn’t bad I just had a terrible waitress gopwrfully if I get a second chance it’ll be better but I’m still in question with actually going again
The experience was great. BUT the gentlemen standing at the desk was rude. The time was 7:05 PM on All Star weekend and Valentine's Day (traffic was bananas) Myself and 2 other in the party were there and he says, "you have to have 6 to be seated and we must have this table back by 9 pm" well that made us feel like we were being rushed.
Delicious meal! Banana pudding was amazing! Great ambiance.
This place is amazing! The food is ridiculously good! The service is stellar! The restaurant mission is great! Highly recommend this spot!
I was expecting way more from an upscale soul food restaurant. I was disappointed with the food taste and serving portions. Needless to say we will not be back.
I had a great experience at The King's Kitchen! Cool spot, great service. Food was good! Would definitely recommend anyone to go and support a great mission.
Amazing food! Great location. We were visiting from Raleigh and this was #1 on our to-do list. Did not disappoint!
Always great food and great service! 11/10 would recommend.
An amazing experience all around! We loved the food, community, atmosphere and the mission of King’s Kitchen and just wish we lived closer!
Great/quick service for lunch and the food was very good.
I always love dining at Kings Kitchen food is always great and such a worthy cause! It is always my pleasure to dine here.
Just not what I expected after researching many restaurants in Charlotte I chose this one and did not think it lived up to my expectations. The food was OK just not really good. I did not leave there thinking I can't wait to tell my friends. Just a disappointment.
The taste of the food & the service were exceptional. I ordered the Salmon with a side salad for myself, great taste but just not enough food. We also ordered the chicken legs off the kids menu which includes one side for my 8 year old (she is petite but it was borderline not enough food), the Burger off the regular menu (for my 11 year old) - plenty of food, and the white chicken with 3 sides for my husband - plenty of food. The chicken was a little dry but other than that, the taste of the food was exceptional. Servers were great also.
Food was delicious and service was very attentive. Recommend the Brussels sprouts, for sure!
I enjoyed my meal and the various options on the menu. Interactions with the waiter were slightly awkward but still great overall.
Fried chicken never disappoints!
Staff was efficient and respectful as well as responsive. The food was authentic with respect for our Southern regional palate. The ambiance was tasteful, not overdone or edgy. The music was somewhat higher db than I prefer but the songs were vintage my favorite era. Worthwhile experience which I would recommend to try at least once to any of my friends. You will not regret the food or the mission.
Loved the food and service. First time dining here will definitely be back!
Ambiance.... service....staff friendliness.... food....everything was great! We traveled here for a cheer competition and I was so happy to have found such a special place.
My daughter ordered a burger and said it was delicious and cooked as asked for. I ordered fried oysters and a salad, also very good!
I love the open kitchen concept and the restaurant decor. The staff was friendly and very helpful not only to the customers but helping each other as needed.
We would definitely go back and recommend to our friends.
Great food and service. Will return.m on our next trip to the Carolinas! Great shrimp and grits!
The atmosphere is very cozy and relaxing. The pot roast dinner was good, meat very tender and very nice portion given. I liked that it came with three sides. The best side dishes were the collards and macaroni and cheese. My husband ordered the Salmon$20, too small of a portion for the cost, then you had to order a la carte sides at $4 each, a bit pricey.Service was very good. We plan to return, love that this place has a mission to help the community.
Everything was delicious! We had the pimento cheese appetizer, the Beet Salad and Baby Kale Salad and then each had a burger (which was cooked a perfect medium and we should have shared because it was so much food!) We left completely stuffed and happy!
We really enjoyed our meal. The food and service were both excellent, and the restaurant has such a wonderful mission. Would recommend!
We totally enjoyed our experience and meals at dinner tonight. 4 different meals and 2 appetizers , 2 desserts and all were delish!
It was absolutely amazing. It was our first time. We will certainly return.
Everything was great- except the porterhouse pork chop- the cut of meat was poor- flavor great- for what meat there was to enjoy- but there wasn’t much for a $28 entree.
The food was excellent! I had salmon! One thing I would change - do not send sides in separate little bowls. Everything should be on one plate. It was hard to eat from two separate plates, and the peas did not want to stay in the bowl. Had to lean to get to the second plate with bowls. The ambiance would have been fantastic if we hadn’t been put in a back room. Very dull back there. So I’ll definitely come again, but would love to see these changes :)
Thanks so much for an awesome lunch with our guests !!
Individual items tasted good, but there was insufficient guidance as to putting together a great meal. Our server was pleasant and polite, but did not seem enlightened as to how to combine to produce a balanced blend foods and flavors. A chef should provide recommendations of combinations for diners Unfamiliar with the restaurant’s preparation style.
Service was very slow - they seemed to be understaffed. Very friendly waiter and host, just very understaffed. Food was OK. Scallops were over cooked.
The King's Kitchen never disappoints. We were there for New Year's Eve dinner and drinks. It was busy but everyone was very attentive and the food and service were perfect. This is a Charlotte landmark that gives back to the community.
We went here on NYE 2018 with a small group of us... the Food was amazing but what really did it for us and put it over the top was the story behind the business and their core values.... it truly made the dinner that much more special for us.
I have been here several times and have never been disappointed!
