The King's Kitchen
Whether you sit down to a heaping plate of Aunt Beaut’s pan fried chicken or opt for our Chef’s pick of fresh fish daily, know that here, our cuisine extends well beyond delicious: it is truly good for the soul.
Located in the heart of uptown Charlotte with a mission of bringing hope to those most in need, King’s Kitchen is a non-profit, southern-inspired restaurant that doubles as a ministry to give hope, dignity and a warm meal to those most in need. Dine well knowing that each meal purchased directly contributes to a free meal to our homeless neighbors as well as job training to give others a new lease on life.
Service was awful.
Very friendly staff and servers. Food was great. Nice ambiance. Will be back.
Go and eat the fried chicken- go now
Love that the restaurant gives it’s profit to those in need. While the food was good I felt rushed by my server. He brought the desert menu before I finished my main course and the slid the check under the desert menu before I decided if I was ordering any. I was a party of one. Ate at a sister restaurant and the experience was great.
Great food and wonderful staff. We moved to Charlotte recently and Kings Kitchen has become one of our favorites.
In town for family wedding; referred to King’s Kitchen by cousin who loved it. We loved it, too. Our waitress, Angela, was exceptional and personable. We loved the philosophy of the restaurant. Enjoyed the fried chicken (even better than my Mom’s), fried catfish, and Mac and Cheese. Too full to get dessert. Will have to get dessert first next time. Thanks to the host, too, who made room for family members who kept arriving when they discovered where we chose to have dinner!
Just love this restaurant and the good work it does! Food is so delicious, the service wonderful and our out of town guests always enjoy it as well! A bit loud at times but easy to overlook.
The first time we ate here it was outstanding in every way. This time, the food was not good with a couple of exceptions and the overall experience was not nearly as enjoyable. It was a disappointment for sure.
The food and Angela our server was fantastic! Definitely will be back soon!
Food and service was very good. Portions were just right, but prices were a tad high for an al la carte evening special.
Well, you really can’t put a value on the food without considering the mission. While the food would not likely be considered a “value” elsewhere, it is passable and the mission IS a value. (BTW, chef, check to be sure the vinegar from the pickled onions or elsewhere does not make its way into the shrimp and grits.)
Consistently high quality food and service. Get a table as fast as you can!
Great food/ not much for cocktails. Friendly environment, would eat there again
High prices for southern food that was nothing special. My fried chicken was not warm and was not any better than super market chicken. Sides were good but crab dip appetizer was over priced and not worth it.
Vegetables were outstanding. Disappointed in the Fried Chicken. It was not freshly prepared, luke warm at best. Why can't you cook to order, rather than batch fry and try to keep warm.
Prices were very fair. and was very surprised to hear the story of how the profits go to feed those less fortunate. Will go back and give them another chance.
Excellent value. We opted for the pan fried chicken because it’s their “specialty”. $17 with 3 of the best sides I’ve had (Mac and cheese, green beans, potatoes and gravy). Simple but delicious. This place can’t be beat.
The food was great! Great southern food spot. Must go!
Great food and menu choices. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, really enjoyed talking with them. Great value for an excellent meal.
Birthday date night out. Food was ok, not great. The atmosphere was fun and the server was attentive and nice. Probably not worth going back though.
Great menu and outstanding service. Fish entree was a bit over cooked, overall quite good.
Good service, great shrimp & grits. Excellent banana pudding. Mac & cheese was just ok. Cornbread was WAY too salty.
Fantastic food, from presentation to taste. Highly recommend.
Shrimp and grits was excellent, Mac and cheese, pimento cheese appetizer were all. Great! Service was outstanding! Highly recommend!
Delicious healthy food and beer and wine for a reasonable price. Atmosphere was quiet and family friendly. I will go back
Everything is good, including it's innovative missing.
Great place with a great mission. I always take my clients and important guests there and they have never let me down. Best southern cuisine I have had. Momma J's in Richmond, VA is close but not quite as good. Hattie's in Upstate NY is also good but not quite up to King's and Momma's.
First time in Charlotte. Attended Pink concert. Received timely service and generous portions. Very noisy.
I made reservations for a party of 6 for my father's birthday dinner and out of town guest. Three people ordered the waitress recommended fried chicken. The chicken and side items came out cold. Additionally the chicken was dry and looked like it had been sitting out all day.The manager said that the chicken Looks that way because it is pan fried at the beginning of the shift (5pm). We received our food at 9pm. The fact that this restaurant thinks that It's acceptable to charge a couple of hundred dollars for their food and serve chicken that has been sitting out for hours is distributing.
It was pleasant and our waiter was very welcoming. They were out of the dishes we originally wanted but was still good food.
It was amazing! We were seated right away and we got our food very quickly! The food was fantastic! We got the salmon and the pot roast! Both amazing dishes!
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at the King's Kitchen. I had the pot roast which was Terrific! The service was very good and the four of us had a very nice experience. The menu is special and we enjoyed becing able not be rushed as we considered the many wonderful sounding "Southern" options. We used a gift certificate from our son in Boston . . . he had called the Kitchen and they put the certificate with our name on it in the King's safe. . . and it was magically there when we arrived to use it. . . likely not a recommended process, but it worked and demonstrated how customer service oriented the King's staff is. Highly Recommended!
Service and food quality were outstanding! We made same day reservations for a large group and were graciously accommodated with immediate seating and excellent service. Food quality and taste is the best in Charlotte. Great mission for our community and always the best food!!
I love the mission of this restaurant and the food and wait staff were amazing!!
Everything we had from appetizers to desert was delicious. They are kid friendly options and it is a good place for a nice family dinner uptown. The European heavy wine list hast interesting and affordable options. Service was wonderful and friendly!
We went prior to a show nearby. A very nice place and excellent service. The lighting could have been better and the seating was not designed for quiet conversation. All in all we would recommend it.
Fast, friendly, great service and food!!
We had the Scallops and Shrimp & Grits. Both were tasty and will have again when we come back. Coconut cake was a great finish. Wonderful service, nice wine list, great food, and an inspiring story of ministry made for a truly enjoyable time at Kings Kitchen.
Food was amazing!
Delicious food, exceptional and friendly service, comfortable atmosphere
