The King's Kitchen
Whether you sit down to a heaping plate of Aunt Beaut’s pan fried chicken or opt for our Chef’s pick of fresh fish daily, know that here, our cuisine extends well beyond delicious: it is truly good for the soul.
Located in the heart of uptown Charlotte with a mission of bringing hope to those most in need, King’s Kitchen is a non-profit, southern-inspired restaurant that doubles as a ministry to give hope, dignity and a warm meal to those most in need. Dine well knowing that each meal purchased directly contributes to a free meal to our homeless neighbors as well as job training to give others a new lease on life.
The southern cuisine cooked with care and fine dining tastes did not disappoint my brother, his wife and my other brother. The dinner was an early Christmas celebration. Thank you King’s Kitchen for the memories.
Visiting from California and several people told us we needed to eat at Kings Kitchen. So glad we did as the food was wonderful and the staff was accommodating.
The fried chicken and catfish were great as well as the sides of cabbage, collard greens, green beans, and macaroni and cheese!
Absolutely phenomenal as always ! The people working there so pleasant and accommodating. The food is fantastic!
We had dinner on a Friday night, busy but not completely full. Food was very good, pot roast was delicious, mushrooms for the table and crab dip were also great. Service was also very good. Nice to be able to support a business that is dedicated to helping the community.
My husband and I were in town visiting family for Thanksgiving, and needed a light meal after the heavy carbs of the holiday! So we took a gander and tried The King’s Kitchen. We shared a kale salad with salmon and some roasted root vegetables. Great flavors, great service, comfy surroundings. My one critique is that $20 for a single piece of salmon to go on the side of our salad was a bit overkill!
Please use Much less or no MSG in your food. I had a terrible headache from the MSG in the food you serve.
Food was excellent. Wine selection very good also.
I loved the idea and mission of this restaurant. But I think there is some room for improvement on the restaurant side. A $20 entrée should definitely come with at least one side dish I think. The waiter was pleasant but Not enthusiastic. My husband did really like the collard greens however!
This was our first visit and we definitely enjoyed our dinner very much! Our waiter Will was very helpful in his recommendations...he explained that the sides are really the star. And they were, but the wine was very good, the coffee was awesome, and our entrees were delicious!! I got the pork chop...it was cooked perfectly to medium as I ordered...nicely browned on the exterior, and juicy i the middle. My wife ordered the pot roast...it was very tender but not cooked to mush. All of the sides were cooked to perfection...very clean tasting, and my wife said her cole slaw was the best she's ever had in a restaurant. The mashed potatoes were so creamy but not heavy, and the beans and peas were well cooked but not overcooked. The prices are very reasonable, the staff was friendly and attentive but not intrusive...definitely a wonderful dinner out!! We will certainly be going back, probably to try the fried chicken on our next visit. Thank you to Will and the staff there for a surprisingly lovely dinner before the show at Booth Playhouse. The only minor opportunity for improvement is for the construction on the street and exterior of the restaurant to be completed...it was a little messy getting there since it was a rainy evening, and it was a bit drafty at our table because of construction to the exterior of the building. but that will not deter us from going to the King's Kitchen again when we are in uptown Charlotte!!
Stopped in for an early dinner on Saturday night. The staff was attentive, and the menu was nicely designed. Would easily recommend The King's Kitchen.
excellent food and service
While food tasted amazing, portions were small. $20 for a small grilled salmon with no sides is a bit much
The concept is wonderful, and the food was very good. It was Southern, with an uptown ambiance, and very close to the Mint Museum and Knight's Theater.
We are from Carolina Beach and this is our second time visiting. Both times have been amazing!! We will be back!!
The Fried Chicken Sandwich and mac and cheese is so awesome!! Nice and quiet for Anniversaries
The food is consistently southern and tasty. The service is good and you’re supporting a good cause while indulging in some southern delights.
Wonderful food and positive environment
Love Kings Kitchen, food is delicious! One of our favorites.
Food was amazing and the service was outstanding! Love their mission. We will definitely go back our next trip to Charlotte.
The service, the case and food were all exceptional. This was my first visit to the Kings Kitchen and Charlotte.
Great food at a very reasonable price.
Great dinner with my brother before a concert. Food was “to die for”. Service was exceptional and I LOVE the philosophy of “doing good” and “giving back”.
All in all a wonderful dining experience all around. I’ll definitely go back.
Outstanding restaurant with a great purpose. The food and ambiance is awesome! Highly recommend!
I brought my 73 year old mother for her birthday. She absolutely loved the food. I specifically brought her for her favorite cake, coconut! But it was a win-win because she enjoyed the dinner too!!
Thanks for a memorable experience!
Outstanding food and always wonderful service. Some of the entrees are a little pricey and some do not come with sides, but the southern selections are very reasonable.
I don’t mind the ala carte but how about saving on the dishes by putting the sides on the same plate as the entree? Also, it would be nice to have a full bar. Lastly, I did specify on the reservation that the occasion was a birthday but no one at KK acknowledged it.
We enjoyed our dining experience at The Kong’s Kitchen. The food was very good and we had an excellent server. Going through a construction sea to get to the restaurant was somewhat of an experience, and we hope that won’t keep diners from this friendly and welcoming restaurant.
This was such an amazing restaurant. We’ve been wanting to try it for awhile because of the mission. However, we were blown away by the quality of service and the quality of the food. Such friendly people and such delicious food!!! They even had stuff to keep our kids entertained and kid-friendly options. We’ll definitely be back for sure!
Authentic Southern Cuisine at an affordable price. Nice place to meet friends, have some good food and some drinks.
The ambience of the restaurant was nice, and the service was decent. However, the food wasn’t the greatest, particularly because it wasn’t fresh (made to order) but instead precooked prior to the restaurant opening.
Great food. Good atmosphere.
Excellent service, food, and ambiance. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
First visit and it was a hit with our party of 6. Will be back soon!
This was our second time visiting this restaurant. We were very satisfied with the experience. The service and servers were pleasant and the food wonderful. It's close to the Belk Theater and other Uptown activities, or just a good place to stop in after work. The management pays a visit to each table, which is appreciated.
Our food was excellent, the waiter was outstanding and the fact that 100% of the profits go to feed the hungry locally made it even better!
Great food and great cause. I recommend the restaurant to anyone wanting good food and a relaxed atmosphere.
Great selection of vegetables and southern inspired dishes. Hearty salads. Great service - very friendly and knowledgeable. Food came out very quickly, but we never felt rushed.
My wife and I were first time diners. We weren't sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. The NY Strip was prepared perfectly and was better than any steak restaurant including Ruth Chris. My wife ordered the pork roast and it was also excellent. The entire meal was great including the coconut cake we had for desert. We would recommend the Kings Kitchen to anyone looking for a great meal.
I enjoyed the atmosphere, the food was delicious, everyone in my dinner party raved about how good their selection was. I will definitely make The Kings Kitchen a favorite stop when I am in the area.
