The King's Head is an ancient pub set in the beautiful village of Laxfield in rural North Suffolk. We're famous for many reasons, but most notably for being a pub without a bar! We have a traditional tap room, that doesn't have a counter – beer is tapped straight from the barrel. Our fantastic daily menu is served seven days a week, together with a delicious breakfast menu served from 8am on the weekend.

We have a quirky layout, with a beautiful open fire at the centre, with smaller rooms adjoining together with a dedicated dining area for 21.

Went with friends and both our rooms were very good. Comfortable beds and hot showers although lacking a bit of water pressure. Good choice of beers available and the food was very good. Average prices. Breakfasts were excellent, not a huge choice but we all thoroughly enjoyed what we ate. Good, quick, friendly service from the young staff. Happy to talk to you or leave you alone. We have visited this pub before, although not stayed there, and would be very happy to go back, for a drink, meal and a stay.

Unfortunately after booking a table we arrived to be told there were no chefs in and they must have missed us off the list to contact. The girl who spoke to us was lovely and apologetic and wrote down the names of some other pubs to try for dinner but obviously being a Friday night we may have trouble. Not being from the area and with terrible fog we didn't fancy driving around country roads we didn't know. It was a shamed as ruined our dinner plans on holiday and it looked like such a lovely pub as well! Hopefully we will give it another try when next in the area!

Always a great time to be had at The Low House. I had the trout & hen's egg for starter and it was so good. SO GOOD. SO VERY GOOD. Great beer, great service and amazingly good, honest food.

Had an excellent meal at the Kings Head Laxfield this weekend. Roast beef was pink and very tasty. Took elderly parents and they thoroughly enjoyed their meals too.

Delicious food, attentive staff. Our visiting friends really enjoyed the food and the venue, as did my husband and I.

First visit for lunch and my partner and I were made to feel very welcome by a cheery and helpful staff. The Tap Room is unusual and works very well. The choice of Adnams beer is excellent. The food was exceptional with the young chef changing a dish to suit my request. Most definitely will recommend to others and will return ourselves soon. A memorable experience.

A pub of huge character. Lovely warm welcome from staff and locals. Great range of beers in a unique setting. Food is brilliant but prices are reasonable. Probably the best dessert I've ever had - panacotta (sp??).

We had a great evening meal here. Service was very efficient and friendly. Very clean dining area, and great beer from the tap room. Would visit again, and recommend to others.
