   The food was delicious especially the mussels and the staff were attentive and courteous. We liked the ambience.

   The service was terrible. It was a Saturday night and only 2 other tables in the restaurant were occupied. We had to get the waitress attention to order some drinks. She gave us menus and instead of telling us at that point what was not on the menu she did this when 2 of our party of 4 went to order tho ha that we’re not available. When asked what the pie of the day was, she had to go into a the kitchen and ask. Overall the service was not great. As for the atmosphere. There were some people in the bar that had had quite a few drinks and they were loud and the language wasn’t the best. This definitely impacted the atmosphere on the restaurant. Overall I wouldn’t rush back.

   Waited over an hour and a half for starter. Gave up in the end. Very disappointing Mother’s Day.

   Third visit to this lovely old pub. We fancied some fish and chips so we wanted to support our local pub. Yet again we wasn't disappointed. We both had Haddock and chunky chips with mushy peas and tartare sauce. Cooked to perfection lovely size portion. Very happy to be honest. I have to say this but I'm not complaining just wanted to let the manager know . It was a very cold night and it would have been perfect if you had one of your open fires going as it was a little cold sitting by the window , we were offered to move tables but we stayed there . Perhaps something to think about next winter to get them fires going. Looking forward to our next visit.

   Wonderful breakfast at a reasonable price, they didn't have avocado so was able to change ham to bacon on eggs benedict for my partner. I had the full English, top quality ingredients and cooked brilliantly. Best breakfast I've had in Chelmsford hands down. Mia served us and she was great also.

   Second try here for food and yet again had a great time. Food was spot on again cooked well and good portions. The staff was very good and very polite and friendly and made you feel very welcoming. Had a tribute singer tonight he was a George Michael tribute act. Some people don't want to eat while someone is singing and loud noise , but it doesn't bother us and we thought the singer was very good and looked the part but as a musician myself he was a little flat but he can work on that but fair play to him we still enjoyed his act. Nice to see the Kings Arms busy . We will be back.

   The pub was cold no fires lit on a very cold evening. TV screen in the restaurant with football on which wasn’t what I wanted for a romantic evening. The pub can’t decide if it’s a sports bar or a dinning pub. The food was covered in salt even the butter had salt on it. The positives were that the waitresses were lovely and attentive and arranged a surprise birthday desert with 2 glasses of presecco.

   The food was good, the service was minimal as only had lunch. I am more than happy that the Kings Arms is back in action and serving food, however, it seemed evident that we went for Friday Lunch they are struggling for customers. This may be because it is January, however, I believe they need to look at their pricing as this may be a factor. With the Popular Angel very nearby with easy access and parking, they are offering food at a slightly lower price than the Arms- burgers being one example. The Arms are charging additional for cheese and bacon - can understand the bacon but not the cheese. Pizzas are a pound or so cheaper and finally charging £5 for a pint of Diet Coke is extreme. I want the Kings Arms to be successful and so my feedback is meant to be constructive- either drop prices slightly and take the hit or maybe look at more economical ingredients to bring down costs. Good luck the Arms - I’m fully behind you but will struggle to pay over £50 for two lunch meals and two soft drinks in the future.

   Really enjoying having this pub as an option for local eating. Service is friendly, food is good and always freshly prepared and it feels fresh and clean. Will be back

    Living nearby and not wanting to cook after a long journey, I tried the Kings Arms. I like to support local establishments such as the Rose and Crown (Great Waltham) and the Six Bells (Boreham). My first impression on viewing the main menu was the prices. They seemed a little high so I assumed I would be getting something special. I chose two "small plates". The waitress placed a small empty plate with raised edges on the table. The plate was stone cold. The two dishes then arrived. As I was on my own there was no point in taking food from the two dishes to place it on a cold plate. As for the dishes, the Italian meatballs in tomato sauce was acceptable but it was supposed to be accompanied by bread. The few very thin slices of bread were totally inadequate. Why skimp on the cheapest part of the dish? The fried Zucchini were a disappointment, probably because I expected something as tasty as experienced in Greece. In the event I was presented with 5 or 6 slices covered with batter and lacking any fried Zucchini flavour. I was offered the pudding menu, which surprisingly was priced slightly lower than I am used to seeing. I chose the crumble and custard. My first impression was how very small the twee pot of custard was. When poured it didn't even cover the top of the crumble. Again, why stint on the cheapest part. Something in the crumble topping was extremely hard. The apple crumble itself was not inspiring compared with that in other establishments. My 250ml of Merlot was fine if a little pricey at £10. A 13% service charge was added to the bill that came to just over £40 Considering what I had, I considered £40 excessive especially when compared with my usual dinning places. Will I be back, I doubt it even though I can walk there in a few minutes. My overall feeling was one of disappointment.
