The King & Queen
Great service.. well covid organised... food and staff all excellent
The food was delicious and the staff were friendly, will definitely be visiting again.
We had a good meal at the King and Queen supported by good service. Out of the three of us two had already decided before we arrived to have crab. It was a bit of a downer that it was not available. Happily the sirloin of beef I had instead was excellent.
Smoked chicken and bacon sandwich was questionable but the cheese and onion sandwich was nice with nice bread. Overall good, friendly staff and money offered off for the sandwich as you would expect. I would go back again as I think just unlucky with the chicken sandwich.
Great food and service. Only marked down on ambience as current restrictions meant it was quieter than it usually would have been on a Friday lunchtime. The team couldn't have been more helpful in making sure we enjoyed our experience.
The place itself is quite quaint if not a little dated (furniture). Menu was ok although desserts were disappointing. Overall it was good for a traditional ‘pub grub’ dinner.
Not as good as previous visits but steak cooked very well. Portions on small side.
As ever a pleasant experience.
Good value with the current offers.
Service excellent.
Very nice Food. Sensible Covid precautions. Great Service. Starter could have been warmer.
Great meal. Good value!
Social distancing, staff and customers taking it seriously with measures put in place and easy to follow.
Will revisit.
The selection of main courses was very good, but to only have 4 options for desert and 1 of these was ice cream scoops.
We were positioned near the door to the kitchen which makes a load bang every time someone walks through, which is quite often.
The staff were very friendly and helpful
Food was bland. Dessert was tepid. Service was friendly and generally good. Social distancing set up was effective.
Lovely huge portions, good service, will attend again very soon.
We had a really nice evening and had balloons put on our table which was a nice surprise as we were celebrating our 1 year together x. Food was lovely just would have liked a selection of vegetables not just courgettes but over all the staff and food were very nice and felt very comfortable during these hard times thank you x
nice as a pub beer was good probably wouldn't eat there again food was nothing special
Good quality of food, especially the sea bass, one of the best I’ve tasted. Others had steak and kidney pudding and scampi which everyone enjoyed. Good service too.
We had a lovely lunch food was delicious would go back again staff very pleasant and attentive.
Lovely food , lovely staff. A nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
friendly service and food was lovely .Not the pubs fault due to covid but felt a bit stuck in a dark corner I guess due to isolating .
Rated the food though and will be back .
Really enjoyed my lunch at the King and Queen, covid protections etc were seamless and easy to follow. Great food and beer helps too.
Seating area adjacent to entrance was fair. The main area appeared to be more acceptable. Food was good but staff adequate. Overall disappointing and not likely to be re-visited
Nice venue. Clean and easy parking. Staff pleasant and helpful. Food a bit “bland” but will go back again
My friend and I have been frequent visitors to the King & Queen over many years. We had noticed a change (not for the better) since it was taken over by new management some time ago, but we decided to have lunch there in September, our first visit since last December. We were disappointed, sadly. The waitresses were really lovely, but unfortunately, the menu has changed a lot - the previous lovely a la carte menu, making the most of local produce, has been replaced with a smaller, pub style menu, with limited choice. There was music blaring out of speakers wherever you sat, so it was difficult to hear conversation - we asked if it could be turned down and the waitress agreed, but we noticed little, if any, difference in volume. The food we had was not that great - and in particular, the vegetables/potatoes I had appeared to have been reheated in a microwave, so the outside of the new potatoes was hard, and the green beans were shrivelled.
On a positive note, the tables were well spaced, with hand sanitizer easily accessible, and the pub had clearly put a lot of effort into adhering to the Covid restrictions.
Absolutely outstanding service, atmosphere and, most importantly, food!!!
The staff were so helpful - full PPE and social distancing in place and it was obvious, the way the staff went about their business, that they had had Covid training.
The staff could not do enough to ensure that we had a pleasant experience.
All in all, as usual, a great few hours - can’t wait to return!!!!
Thank you
Good value carried on the £10 off so would go again.
It was a nice meal. I'm not sure the serving staff paid particular attention to the Covid risks and sometimes came too close and fingers went into plates when serving up
Good food, ideal setting, we choose the garden. We plan to return again very soon.
The food was good but unfortunately the service was so slow it tainted our whole experience. We were waiting for a long time for our food. I’ve been here twice and it happened both times. The first time I thought it was cause we were a large table but the second time there was only 3 of us.
My main course was not cooked! No apology just a new dish put in front of me. Cold pork (undercooked) and j cooked pitta bread.
We booked a table for bank holiday Monday for lunch on the last day of the eat out scheme. We arrived to find out the table was in the garden- there was no indication of this during the booking process, and we probably wouldn’t have booked it had we known as we were there with our 3 year old and baby, so it was slightly chilly for the baby to be outside! Luckily it was dry as they said they had no way of moving us inside even if we needed to.
The food was fine, but we felt that the quality wasn’t necessarily as good as other pubs we’ve been to in and around the area, and the price was slightly higher.
Staff were lovely though and were as helpful as they could be considering they had a very busy afternoon coming up.
We’re glad we tried somewhere new but don’t think we would rush back.
A better menu than before Covid for me, there is more choice for non meat eaters. The food was good, better that we had a discount. Wine remains expensive.
I felt pretty safe we were a good distance from other tables.
Sunny pub lunch in the garden with dog kids n grandparents!
Lovely evening, well socially distanced in the garden. The quiz was great fun. The food was wonderful, although our starter was forgotten and condiments were finally brought when dinner was nearly finished. However, no real complaints because the staff were very friendly and they were really just very busy.
Not great for vegans only two options, one starter and one main which is deep fried.
Been going there for a long time but unfortunately the food and service has rapidly declined over the last year. We won’t be rushing back to eat there.
Very well organised for Covid and quick service.
We had a lovely lunch. A monthly works lunch out and everyone enjoyed their meal. Our waitress was lovely and they were knowledgeable and accommodating for our colleague who is gluten intolerant. Will definitely be going back.
Was busy but service was good. But missed off my veg from order. It was sorted very quickly. BUT £4.50 for the piece of broccoli! Really?! That is beyond rediculous.
Had a rump steak, it was cooked as requested and tasted great, will go there again.
Always a nice experience in the King and Queen. Never rushed and the food is always lovely
