The Kettle Room was wonderful! The food was delicious and the drinks were equally amazing. Our server was kind to switch out my beer because I was not quite a big fan of the tartness at no extra cost! The pairings with the meal were tasteful and well-thought out. The only downfall was that there was a large drunk group that the servers mostly focused on since they broke glasses and were boisterous, thus our servers were not as attentive as they could have been. They did a wonderful job explaining the menu and doing their best managing. Hope to come back here again!

The Kettle room a great place to have a special occasion meal. Their staff made the food and beer pairing a very unique dinning experience. My fiancee and I had our first date at the little Italy Ballest Point Location, It was nice going back 4 years later to celebrate a really special Valentines Day dinner to remember. Our favorite pairing was defiantly the Victory At Sea aged in red wine barrels pared with a peanut butter gelato and Victory At Sea bread pudding.

Great Experience!

Everything in this restaurant is amazing, starting with the service which is phenomenal, so attentive and thoughtful they go all the way to accommodate and make sure you have a great time. They explain to you each of the courses and ask if you have any questions or comments.

The ambience is excellent, a bit romantic, intimate, exuberant and humble at the same time, you'll love it.

The food was amazing everything was great and cooked to perfection, it included a bit of everything and the portions were just right, we were worried that it would not suffice or that it be to little for the money but it was just perfect; The beer was absolutely fabulous, it included new and limited releases and hard to find variants of others.

All in all an excellent choice whether you're celebrating something, in the mood for some gourmet experimental cuisine or just want a romantic, out of the ordinary date.

Cheers!

I highly recommend - we were looking for a dinner place while at a work conference and wanted to have a nice meal. It was four courses of deliciousness that could either be paired with beer selections or not. The option to pair or not was really nice for those that aren't beer drinkers. The only thing I will caution is that this is a tasting menu and I don't believe there is flexibility in the selections (we didn't ask because there were no issues with the 5 of us that were dining). The room is really cool, too. Only 4 tables (I believe each accommodate 6) with plenty of space and a perfect volume (so we weren't screaming to talk with each other).

The overall cost was reasonable for a four course menu but the food as a whole was nothing special. My girlfriend's steak was overcooked after she asked for chicago/blue rare.

One of the most amazing meals I have had. Our group did not know what to expect and were blown away by the dishes and the beers paired with each one. I appreciate the prix fixe menu but that you could order individual dishes as well instead of doing all four courses. The waitress was very knowledgable and friendly. The chef was just outstanding. This is serious fine dining!

It was an amazing meal and atmosphere. We had the charred octopus , scallops and waygu steak. Everything was delicious. The beer was great. But the service was beyond anything I have ever had. Melly and Jess were the best . They went out of their way to give suggestions and allowed tastings of beers . We even went home with a 4 case and souvenir glasses.

We were first guests with 6:15 reservation, Sat. night.
Only 6 more people seated over next 2 hours....so, not crowded & very relaxing!
I was not expecting such good food in a brewery!
Server attentive, and beer pairings well matched!
I will definitely recommend Kettle Room to friends!

We were visiting San Diego and spent one of our evenings at The Kettle Room. The service was fantastic, our waitress worked with us to make sure we would enjoy our beer pairings (giving us a sample of a few we thought we wouldn't like as much and replacing one with her next best suggested pairing). The food was also fantastic! We had set the bar high but everything was above and beyond. My boyfriend and I shared the fixed menu (plus two dished a la carte) and beer pairing, and with each course having an 8oz pour, it was definitely enough. Can't recommend this place enough!

What an EXPERIENCE!!!! Hands down the best place to eat in San Diego.

Walked into the restaurant (group of 5 business people) and we were taken to the back, past the large kettles used for brewing beer, and walked into a somewhat small, private room that had about 4 long tables.

I like to work in bullet points so here it goes:

1)You need to make reservations.
2)They serve a 4-course meal, and you get to pick from one of two options for each course.
3)You are separated from the main bar, so you can have a conversation without having to yell.
4)The beer pairings are really well thought out, and are delicious.
5)The wait staff was extremely attentive.
6)The meal portions are small, but they extremely well crafted.
7)You are not felt rushed and the timing of each dish was about 30 min per course.

Overall it was an outstanding experience and I will return in the future.

Pre fixe - starter and salad were good. Entree was underwhelming and average at best (steak) - it also took over an hour to come out. Spent about 2.5 hours there, and ended up taking the dessert home because it was getting late. Beer was good. Service top notch, minus the timing of food. The kitchen needs work.

We went with the a la cart option instead of the prefixed menu, and I really enjoyed it. Especially since we wanted to try a variety of the beers, and weren’t necessarily trying to follow any of the pairing selections. Plus, the risotto was PHENOMENAL. Our server really made everything that much better too - she was fabulous.

The beer was great and Ryan was better. You can tell a lot about a chef from his scallops, and these scallops were fantastic. I highly recommend the fruit and cheese plate for dessert. The savory cheeses and fresh fruit are wonderfully unexpected. This was the best meal we have had in San Diego.

Love this place. I can't say enough good things about it. From the server Brian to Chef James. The food, ambiance, service EVERYTHING was excellent. It's worth the drive from LA down to SD for this place.

You can't put a rating on the food here. Prie Fixe is the way to go.

Excited to be at Ballast Point Kettle Room, however started with the Amuse Bouche (pic) which it was a disappointment. That was less tasty than a cracker, supposedly filled with Bone Marrow.
Appetizer Bone Marrow (2pic) you have to be a detective to find it. Had they filled with butter, at least I could use the toast. Salad was blend, my friends had better luck with Mango squash. Maygu beef was ok but not much flavor. Dessert was good, but again Ice cream, where can you go (too) wrong? Beer and service were way above average though.

Interesting concept, and we like most Ballast Point beers, but this place was a let down. I didn't think the food was creative, and wasn't as good as the reviews I have read. The service was friendly and efficient, but the pre fixe menu was underwhelming and overpriced the more I think of it. Small portions are ok if the concept is pulled off and each bite is exciting, but this was small portions for food that was mediocre, somewhat bland and with a boring presentation. Although I likely won't be returning to The Kettle, we will continue going to the brewery section.

We enjoyed our meal, everything tasted good, and the beer is always excellent. Service was also some of the best we have had. We felt our money didn't get us much as far as value, as a $10 toast was only a single piece of toast to share. The entree portions were small, but they tasted excellent and was an enjoyable meal.
