Great food and kind service!
I loved the ambiance. The brunch was absolutely delicious, the brunch potatoes were the best I've ever had in the city!
Consistently delivers an all around fantastic experience.
Atmosphere is lacking but food and service was excellent
Very good oyster special. Scallops were great. Soft shortbread-like dessert was a great finish.
Our server was wonderful, perfect balance of fun/energy and checked on us the right amount. The food was excellent and the decor is very chic but not overdone. Highly recommended brunch spot
This place is fabulous! I loved the ambiance and the service was superb. The happy hour was great and both of us loved our entrees! My mom has some (often irritating) strict diet restrictions and not only did they accommodate them, but her meal was still delicious with all the alterations she required! If I lived in Chicago, this would be a regular staple for dining out! Also, the patio looks like it would be phenomenal with some warmer weather.
Food was delicious. Really great service. Only complaint was coffee was not hot enough and a little dark/bitter
The Kennison had a great atmosphere and would recommend to anyone that is visiting the zoo. If the restaurant was in a different neighborhood, we probably wouldn't go back. The food lacked spice and the food was mediocre, but the experience and atmosphere was great. We waited over 30 minutes for our entrees on a non-busy night. The server was amazing and cheerful. The drinks were delicious! Overall, it was a decent place for tourist.
Great food and service. Always consistently good
Great location...squandered. Below average food in a terrific food city, horribly prepared and served glacial slow. A real disappointment. Grilled Salmon and risotto was swimming in a maple syrup pond...overwhelming everything...a soggily mess. Hamburger was way over done and flavorless, bun was not charred it was burned black an ineffable.
All of this was delivered 50+ minutes after ordering. Manager knew this was a bad execution and comped first round of drinks and the burger, but with so many other, better option there is no reason to go to the Kennison.
We made last minute reservations after visiting the Lincoln Park ‘Zoo Lights’ display. They were able to accommodate our party of 8 . The food was good and our waitress was great and was kind enough to allow us separate checks. Many establishments would not be willing to do so for such a large group!
Solid place - drinks were tasty and the food was delicious. Tables are a bit crammed together but overall I was happy with the experience.
The wait staff was extremely attentive. This is one of the few times where I'd give the wait staff a 5+. The food was also good and perfectly prepared. This is definitely a neighborhood gem.
Always great food and excellent service.
Had a delicious brunch - spinach and mushroom omelet with really crispy home fries - yum!
We were at The Kennison for Sunday Brunch. The menu was good, the coffee excellent as was the service.
It was a disappointing experience. The food was generally good but there was a long wait between appetizers and entrées. And the entrées particularly the Steak Frites were not very good and were cold. We sent them back and it came back cold. The fries had been warmed, but not the steak. Very strange. They did take it off the bill. It’s still disappointing. Also we ordered a side but it never showed up until we asked, and was very very late. Also took it off the bill. We have been there before and had good experiences. This was quite disappointing.
The Kennison is my favorite place in Chicago! The best service, food, and cocktails
Very good service, tasty ample portions. Will certainly return.
We dined at The Kennison on Monday, November 4. We were there to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The restaurant really went out of their way to make sure it was a special evening. Additionally the food (appetizers and entrees) and service were really good. Overall an excellent experience. We’ll be back.
The taste and presentation of the items was stellar. Our server, Emily, super as was the host who greeted us when we entered ( in fact, he let us in out of the cold 5 mins before opening). Happy hour drink prices appreciated. Very enjoyable and nice ambiance although we would prefer no music, or at least just soft background music.
I took my husband for his birthday. His steak was rare (he ordered it medium). His fries were cold and soggy. My mussels were extremely fishy I could only eat about 1/4 of them. I'm not sure if they had gone bad. The barrata appetizer was very tasty, but the bread was completely burnt and quite honestly overpriced for the portion size.
For reference, my husband orders steak and frites regularly and I order mussels anywhere that has them on the menu. We are not new to these dishes and unfortunately we rated them the worst we had ever had.
Our server noticed I did not eat the majority of the mussels and she immediately took them off the bill (I did not ask for this) and she also then circled back for specific feedback. I truly appreciated this.
Server was super friendly, food was delicious. We’ll definitely be back.
I thought the food was really good, the portions generous and the waitstaff extremely attentive and friendly. A great meal!
The food was exception and the atmosphere was unpretentious. The service was attentive and the server knew his food and was enthusiastic about the restaurant. We would definitely visit again!
Kitchen busy.. food took a long time.. which did not bother us.. but restaurant gave us appetizers etc bc of the wait. Food good and staff couldn’t be more accommodating!
Great cocktails, appetizers, and entrees. Service was perfect-attentive but not intrusive. Joshua and team were well coordinated.
Great service and fantastic food. Love the potstickers!!
We felt like the entire staff was committed to making our experience exceptional.
The Kennison has become a regular go-to but this was our first time for brunch since it took over from Perennial Virant. The food was delicious. We shared the cinnamon roll to start, which was a bit dry to my taste but the frosting was very good. We had the breakfast sandwich (replaced the meat with avocado) and the GCM omelette. Both came with potatoes/home fries, which are sinful, and both dishes were right on the money. Apparently many of their ingredients come from Green City Market, which is great!
The fish and chips - the fish was salty. The veggies were fine, but not exciting. The crispy potatoes were not exactly what I expected. And it is hard to talk to each other - loud, and we are 61 and 63 years old.
My salad was good but the veggie sides were mediocre. Seemed like they were once frozen and then cooked - very little flavor and soggy. Roasted Brussels sprouts were almost soupy. I love Brussels but I didn’t even want to eat those. Also, the wine list on the website is way more expansive than what is offered in the restaurant. That was disappointing .
Service was great. Food was awful. 4 steak dinners came out cold. Not warm. Cold. Sent back to heat up and they came back less than lukewarm. To top it off all of the steaks were under cooked. Ordered med rare and came out rare. No one could eat their steaks. Apps had little flavor. Fries were good though.
Attentive service, great food .
The food was not good.
Great birthday spot
The service was friendly and welcoming. We didn't feel rushed and the server was open to a somewhat picky table mate who inquired about a few menu change possibilities. The food was delicious and the portions were perfect.
The food was great, and the service outside was wonderful. Noise level outside was conversation friendly. Can't say that for the indoor dining. We will be back for sure, especially in the nice weather.
Servers was super nice and super helpful and friendly!
