The Kennison Ratings and Reviews
My kids and I had a wonderful meal at The Kennison. It’s a beautiful place but really relaxed. Our meals were all amazing. My son thought the pasta was a bit spicy for him so the waiter brought him a burger without question. Everyone is beyond accommodating and the food exceeds our expectations every time!
Our experience at the Kennison was great! We'd only dined outdoors during last summer, but the new look inside was wonderful. Service was very good, solicitous, but not overbearing. Very interesting menu selections, with something for everyone. We had a great salad , the pork ragu with pappardelle, and it was excellent! Definitely will be a place to go back to.
Kennison is my new favorite. We went the weekend before and loved it so much, we went back during restaurant week. Each course was wonderful and the staff was so attentive. They gave great recommendations and everything was spot on. We will definitely be going back again!
I loved this place! The food was so great. We all loved our meals!! I had a bagel and lox (which I’ve ordered at other restaurants many times before) and this was seriously the best I’ve ever had. The lox had dill on them which was great. Our waiter was super nice. This restaurant is also right across from the zoo!
This was a solid date choice. Very approachable wine list and great service. The one critical piece of feedback I have is, it would have been nice to have a vegan option or two but our waiter was very accommodating (for future reference the pumpkin soup, brussel sprouts and cauliflower are great).
I was really looking forward to brunch at the Kennison but then when we arrived they had a different menu than what they had online. They said that they were doing a special menu which was a play on McDonald's breakfast. Honestly, we all agreed that we'd rather have had real McDonald's breakfast, especially because this was probably 5 times the price and not even as good. On top of that, service was terrible. We waited 45 minutes for food and then 40 minutes for the check. We had to ask for the to top off our coffee or water and even after we asked we were ignored. Probably won't be going back.
Have been wanting to check out the new concept at this location. Did not disappoint. Standout Pumpkin soup on a cold night. The only reason for not perfect in ambiance is there are a lot windows which makes for great seats but on an extremely cold evening, it got a little cold inside. Every dish was fantastic, staff was so attentive and outstanding. Enjoyed talking with Mging Partner Ryan See and we will be back for sure.
Perfect post Zoo Lights. Wait person was outstanding. Food really good but double check the mussels...Also be aware there are a lot of high top tables so ask if you prefer a low top table. Really fun to have so near the Zoo...will go back when we can sit outside!!
Service is outstanding. We were at a table for two and there was a lot of noise by us. Manager came by and offered to move us. After we were moved to a quiet area, we were a bit cold, so he raised to temperature to make us more comfortable. We ordered the twofer menu. I loved the Faro salad and my fish was okay, but my partner loved his chicken. Overall, very nice.
The waiter was friendly and enthusiastic. The soup was barely tepid and had to be sent back. The salads, especially the farro salad, were large and good. My salmon was overdone and despite a savory broth, pretty tasteless. The meatballs were good but the preciously presented chicken wasn’t particularly tasty. The waiter offered to give us a comped dessert to make up for the general lack but we had run out of time. The location is good for visiting the zoo, history museum and conservatory.
We were seated 20 minutes before a waiter stopped by. Then they forgot to enter some of the dishes that were ordered.....which finally arrived after the dinner was complete. The General Manager was professional and kept apologizing but the mistakes kept happening. Very disappointed....Boca group is usually better
The food was marginal at best. Even though there were less than 10 tables, the food took forever. I think we waited almost 30 -40 minutes. On the plus side, the waiter, food runner, water person, and busboy were very attentive, professional, and customer service friendly
Server was sub par and so was the food. The fish and chips was rubbery. Burgers were descent but the waitress asked if we “want pink or no pink” for the burger temperature. She said it’s too thin to specify medium or medium rare or well. It was a thick burger maybe 1/3 lb so not sure why she said that. We also ordered a side of brussel sprouts that we needed to remind the waitress after our food arrived and she blamed the kitchen. She also blamed the bartender when someones drink never arrived.
Our third time eating at The Kennison and keeps getting better! Have had the short ribs (no longer on the menu), white fish and most recently the chicken. All were terrific and the chicken was fabulous and different. The risotto and brussel sprouts are always outstanding. Make sure to visit the J Parker bar on the roof for drinks before or after your meal. View is the best and with the holiday lights at the Lincoln Park Zoo it is spectacular
