FYI the bar and the food service shuts down at 9 PM regardless of whether or not you are completing your meal.we had a 730 reservation and were told it was last call at 8:58 and we had to order dessert then if we wanted to get anything. Promptly we were basically rushed and kicked out. There was no warning given upon arrival or any notice so we could have spaced out our evenings orders. A poor example of how or operate with paying customers willing to order more food/drink.
We have dined several times at Kennison. The staff is always helpful, and friendly. The service is excellent and the food is consistently good. Very welcoming to kids.
Service was so slow. It took them 15 minutes to come to the table, 15 minutes to bring drinks, another 30 minutes to order food, etc. the food was almost not edible. We got an appetizer of crispy potatoes. It was served with no sauces, no silverware, etc. We had to ask the bar for all of these. I had the Nashville chicken sandwich and it was awful. My husband also had it and each of us took one bite and left the rest on the plate. It had a strange taste and texture to it. One of dining companions had the gnocchi and also could not / would not eat it. It looked like mush - oatmeal type consistency. the other two people in our group had the burger and said it was fine / edible but not good. We didn't have time to send the food back as we were late for our zoo lights entry time. Wasted time and money and left hungry. We will not be back.
Amazing food, the brunch was delicious! Will absolutely be back!
Enjoyed the food - we had the fish & chips & pumpkin risotto. 3 stars because we had to wait over an hour before our food came. Apparently the kitchen was "backed up" but it would have been nice if our server was more attentive and maybe even offered us some bread while we were waiting, or more drinks.
Very average food for the price. My $28 grilled fish tasted like some cheap frozen fish.
It was just average
Great place for breakfast with friends! Across the street from the Lincoln Park farmers market so you can head there before or after.
Great local place with good food, great service and right off the Park.
One of my favorite restaurants!
Friendly fast service and great food! Family friendly.
This was our first time here, but it looks like it has suffered with Covid- short staffed, out of items on the menu and wine list. Staff is poorly trained, 15-20 mins to even meet our server, ( same thing happen w/ table next us) disappeared twice when looking for our wine bottle, only came back to check on us at end of meal. Food was very good in general, pork shank was delicious, cauliflower was good, steak frites an ok example of the dish. Seats are all worn, cool vibe of a building… felt like we were a few years too late to experience what they were originally aiming for.
Like many restaurants they were very short staffed so service was slow but they bought us a round of drinks and the food was excellent.
We went for Saturday brunch. The food was nothing spectacular but it was reasonably priced. The overall vibe was really cute and location was great!
The Kennison was a perfect spot after we visited the Green City Market. the $5 bloody mary's really hit the spot and we like the french toast too.
I feel really bad bc the place has definitely been hurting with their staff due to Covid. The menu is now much smaller but it is still a favorite spot of ours. We were not waited on for awhile which caused some confusion.
Always delivers! Quality brunch, they don't do too much and the food is always made just right!
Food was subpar and below expectations. Not going back.
Overall the restaurant has a great ambiance with a cool aesthetic, our server was great along with our food and drinks!
The staff was wonderful and the food delicious!!!!
Server was wonderful
The food was excellent. They were short staffed at the bar and on the floor for a Friday night. Our server was polite and doing the best she could. It is a great spot. The dining room needs a refresh to replace some areas that are worn out. It is a favorite for us in the neighborhood!
Service was great and extremely accommodating, dining room definitely showing signs of wear.
The service team was speedy and the food was great
Portions are too small The food was so good !
We chose to have dinner at the Kennison on a night that the temps outside had dropped significantly as Fall had officially started. No one was sitting outdoors anymore, and people on the street were in heavy Fall jackets and sweatshirts. The dining room is most often empty and we were seated by the window. The air conditioning was blasting and we were chilled to the bone, very uncomfortable, and asked that it be turned off over our table. The young staff finally figured out how to do that, but after a short time, the fan was blasting cold air again, as we sat in jackets. One entree was outstanding - the swordfish - a perfectly seasoned generously thick cut with a great blend of corn, kale and bacon alongside. The burger, in a City that has elevated burgers to an art, was skimpy and just mediocre.
Sunday Brunch. We arrived just before 10, and even though they weren’t ready to serve us, they let us take a seat and were just very nice and accommodating. Our food was delicious. The outdoor patio is lovely.
The fish fry is one of the best in Chicago! Highly recommended.
Great spot for a girls night or a date. Drinks are great!
The omlet, complete with potatoes was outstanding! Also loved the French toast. Recommend their brunch.
Love this place. Excellent food. Excellent drinks. Service is awesome - very nice people! We go here at least once/month.
Not many people inside at 10am. I had the pulled pork hash and it was delicious. The bloody Mary’s are fantastic! And my mom says it’s “the best quiche in town”. Always good and I love the decor.
Our server Cecilia was fantastic!
Menus is not extensive, atmosphere is great, close to Lincoln Park and Lake Michigan. Our server, Randy was great. Overall nice evening. My fish and chips was not as crispy as I like. Very large portions.
Great atmosphere, however the food was very subpar and bland, especially for the price. The drinks were fantastic. We wouldn’t recommend the food but we would for the cocktails. Overall 5.5/10, come here for drinks but choose another place for dinner.
We have been going to the Kennison for a couple years now and we really enjoy not just the food and the cocktails but also the staff. They go out of their way to make us feel welcome.
Always outstanding!! Food is great, service is fantastic and great environment. The patio is a great spot to people watch. Highly recommend!!
Everyone was incredibly nice and they made us feel so confident regarding my partner’s lactose intolerance.
Great patio, welcoming indoor space, service, location, and food always great for entertaining people visiting us in Chicago
