   I haven’t been to this Keg location in several years. The place is looking a little tired and could use a good cleaning. To begin my group was warmly greeted. For a table of 4 we were placed in quite a tight booth. It was not comfortable. Service was adequate but it felt quite robotic and very slow to begin with. The main part of the meal was good but the side vegetables were not. Large chunks of beets and some wilted asparagus and green beans were served. Since we were celebrating a couple of birthdays we were given two Billy Miner pies and that was very appreciated. The ice cream was very melted so I was glad I did not have to pay for it. Overall it was expensive for the experience. I don’t believe I would go back. There are so many other choices at that price point for a more modern and clean location and perhaps nicer service.

   The waiter knew it was our anniversary and sent us a cake. It’s amazing.

   I’ve been dining at The Keg with my family for over 20 years, starting at the Surrey location and eventually becoming regulars at the Still Creek Burnaby location after we moved. The Burnaby Keg has always been reliable—great service, consistently good food, and a welcoming atmosphere. Unfortunately, the Richmond location continues to fall short. I’ve given it several chances—about four visits now—and each time has been a disappointment. On our most recent visit, the ambiance felt completely off. The lights were glaringly bright, and they were playing loud rave/EDM music around 8 p.m. on a Saturday night. It created a jarring, chaotic vibe that felt more like a nightclub than a steakhouse. It was actually louder and more intense than what you’d hear at the Yaletown rooftop patio on a summer evening, which says a lot. Service was noticeably slow, possibly due to a lack of bussers or floor support. The signature three-cheese butter is now whipped and noticeably less cheesy and flavorful. The escargots, once a favorite, now come topped with oversized mushroom caps, throwing off the balance—too much mushroom, not enough escargot. Our twice-baked potatoes were lukewarm and runny, likely from too much cream. We all ordered prime rib, but my sister’s crispy onions were the end burnt bits. While the staff did correct the issues we pointed out, it meant waiting for our potato sides while we ate the rest of our meals, which were already not hot to begin with. It also didn’t seem like the plates were warmed, unlike what we’re used to at Burnaby. They did offer a slice of Billy Miner pie as a gesture, which was appreciated, but unfortunately, the overall experience just didn’t measure up. Based on my visits, this seems to be a recurring pattern at the Richmond Keg.

   Wife's b day. Host asked the occasion celebrating. Waitress did not. Ordered 2 Billy's. Non was on the house from waitress. Left 18% tip option instead of the 22% second option.

   It was a really bad experience as it is a birthday celebration. I requested a quiet table which I didn’t get. I was put in the lounge. Server came up without a smile, I forgot the candle for the cake they told me they have none. Overall the food was good, is just that is not a pleasant visit with the environment and the service.

   My daughter and I attend this location for our weekly mommy/daughter “check in dates “. The service is always amazing , food 👌🏽, however this particular day definitely warranted a review. I’ve already forgotten everyone’s name however all of the staff we encountered from the hostess to the waitress were exceptional! Thank you for your service today !    Service could’ve been better. Our server was quite busy but definitely could’ve been a bit more attentive. Baseball sirloin was cooked perfectly and the Billy Miner hit the spot at the end.

   I am not sure if they were short staffed on a busy Saturday but we went there for my husband’s birthday. The service was very slow and we had to remind our server several times for things she was not bringing but we had already asked for. She started to make excuses such as we are out of those glasses and just waiting to get some cleaned. Have never heard this before in my life. Unfortunately the food was also not great. The husbands steak was overcooked as was another guest’s. It was unfortunate as we usually love the keg and usually have a great experience

    The Keg in South Richmond has deteriorated to an unacceptable level - burned and salty crab cakes, medium well steak instead of medium rare requested, tasteless prime rib etc. Completely ruined my family evening so this place is permanent off my list. For those reading my comments, there are tons of other places that are twice as good with half the price so don’t waste your time and money with Keg anymore.
