The Keg Steakhouse + Bar - Banff Downtown
Prime Rib Sliders
freshly shaved, horseradish dijon, red wine herb jus
Server Melissa had very bad attitude and rock lobster was very small. Not happy. We will never go back to that location. Trust in me we have been to many keg locations across Alberta and thi one ranks the worst.
Great food and service - covid time so obviously limited ambience
Last summer we visited this restaurant and were impressed with all the Covid protocols in place and had a fantastic dinning experience. However, when we dined there on Saturday, April 3rd we were pretty disappointed. When we first arrived, the restaurant was operating at a lower capacity and there was ample room between diners. However, the restaurant quickly filled up and it felt like there were too many people squished into the upstairs dinning area. We did not feel safe.
Baseball sirloin was ordered medium rare +, but came out practically bleu rare. Other than that, no issues
Great food and service as always. Very pricey but worth it.
Nice quiet atmosphere, good food, we have been going to this same Keg from Edmonton every anniversary.
Server seemed like we were more of a pain. Not friendly.
Nice place, good service but food was not of a standard expected from the Keg - very disappointing to be honest!
Great overall. Service was good. Food was great quality is very consistent.
Exceptional service with excellent food!
Great dinner! We really enjoyed our wonderful service.
Waiter was awesome, joked around, was great to talk to! Food was amazing as always. We went around 3:30 so it was very quiet which was nice.
Med well Steak and Halibut were delish! Would recommend to eat here
Great as usual. Found dinner menu pricy. However, expected the price.
Obviously Covid has hit hard here. Our waiter was half asleep. We ordered a bottle of wine and he never asked if the kids wanted anything to drink. He never welcomed us or introduced himself. We had to ask him how he was doing finally on the 3rd visit to our table. We came here for a good steak experience and it was not had here.
We enjoyed sour evening! We will be back!
Food was great and good atmosphere
We were celebrating a birthday so we decided to go to Banff and eat at the keg while there. The food was excellent the steaks were perfectly cooked. The service was good not quite as attentive as we’d expect but was still good. The dessert was delicious and free for the birthday! We will definitely be back.
Food was good as usual, but the veggie selection on the plate was less than desirable. 3 sticks - all undercooked (carrot, a parsnip and chunk of sweet potato - I think). The rest of the meal made up for it but sub quality on that regard. Server was great and communicated very effectively.
I can’t believe this restaurant carries The Keg name... we were thoroughly unimpressed... I truly don’t believe that restaurant would be running if they didn’t carry that name.
The Keg in Banff delivered the same exceptional dining experience we have come to expect from this restaurant. The food was excellent!
All round excellent evening. Good food even better wine and great conversation with server. Highly recommended.
Warm greeting upon arrival. Also host who sat us to table mentioned where washrooms were while walking us to our table, which is brilliant and very appreciated and should be standard practice in every restaurant.
Service was good. Steak was good but not phenomenal tonight.
It was my girlfriends Birthday. Everything was great but you could tell they were very busy and still sorting things out since reopening from covid.
Have been to this location many times and everything was great
Beautiful evening, food & service was spot on. Our server Patrick gave wonderful recommendations for the meal & for our stay in Banff!
Poor service, steak wasn’t cooked the right way. Took over 30 minutes just for a refill of pop.
It was just a little annoying cause they ran out of garlic shrimp and lobsters at 6pm. We had to wait for our lobsters to be unfrozen 🤨. Other than that it was good food as always.
It was our Valentines dinner and after being shut down due to COVID, it was such a nice treat to go out! The food was delicious!!
I always love steak at the Keg. This was the first time I was visiting this location at Banff. I really liked the staff, the ambiance and obviously the food.
Service was very poor which affected my rating. Expensive menu so I expect good service.
The service was lacking. There was an earthquake just prior to our reservation so perhaps the server was flustered. We could hear him apologizing for issues at another table and also to me for bringing me the wrong wine after asking how it was. I think it would be better not even knowing... Maybe he was just starting out on the job but he seemed very all over the place, abruptly told me that they do not carry the cheese spread for the bread (which I've never heard before). Again, it could have been true but he did not seem genuine when speaking with us. It could have been a one off thing, it could have been because of the earthquake, it could have been his first week, i don't know but it wasn't pleasant.. Not trying to slam, just giving you our honest opinion on what happened.
Service and appys were great, Prime Rib fell a little flat, very grislily and was not cooked to where they said it was.
Excellent service and awesome food. Be sure to make a reservation to avoid disappointment. The Keg is our favourite restaurant in Banff.
From entering to exiting, the experience was great as expected and as always we look forward to our next dining at The Keg!!!
Excellent food and service. Staff even called a cab for myself and my partner.
We typically come to the keg for our anniversary dinner. We were delighted when the keg still had reservation spots open because we couldn’t get in anywhere else. Our reservation was at 9pm, we got there and were told our table wasn’t ready yet. It wasn’t until 9:20 that we were finally sat. When we were greeted, we were told that they were running out of menu items, 5 in total at that time, 2 of them being things we were planning on ordering. We love the twice baked potato and that is one of the reasons we come to the keg. By the time the server took our order, which felt rushed, when we chose our starter which was not one of the items he had said was out but it was now out, our second choice just ran out too. Went for the scallops and bacon which was still good. We just got our entree dinner (it was very quick!) and were told that it was last call at 9:50.. our first drinks were still pretty full. We were a little bummed out that again we were so rushed. Our server was still pretty engaging and we liked the service from him. We do enjoy the keg and will come back but didn’t have the best experience that we normally do.
Sent my steak back as it was not cooked to what was requested and the second one came back pretty much the same as the first. One other customers dinner that I was dining with was not hot.
The service was fantastic. Our server was genuine, fun and friendly... a rarity these days. We make sure to stop by this location in particular as the Prime Rib here is next level. I know it sounds strange, maybe it’s the altitude, but the Prime Rib here is better than at the Keg in Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver. Furthermore, this particular location somehow beats the second location closer to to entrance of Banff. I can’t explain it but just do yourself a favour and treat yourself to something special here, you won’t regret it.
Had booked two tables separately for 4:15 arrived at 4pm restaurant was empty host was angry we had made two separate reservations and told us we were seated on separate floors. I can’t imagine how difficult it would have been to find two tables near each other in a near empty restaurant. Also waitress and hostess physically blocked my 14 year old daughter from coming over to my table. Experience overall was terrible.
