The Keg Steakhouse + Bar - Banff Downtown
horseradish, red wine herb jus
This was a great place to eat for my birthday the service was amazing
Our server and the food were excellent, it was a wonderful way to celebrate our 25th anniversary. Thank you!
It's a chain restaurant so you can't expect too much. You pay an ok price for a decent steak. The only issue was one of the diners had to send back her steak because it was overdone and it took too long to rectify it. Also no apology or bill deduction was offered which was unusual for this kind of error.
COVID is the only reason this wasn’t the best atmosphere, but all in all very good
Meal was good and service was good to start with. Bigger groups came in so we were forgotten.
Birthday dinner - food was excellent, nice wine and our server was very attentive. The Keg never fails to deliver!
We enjoyed the summer patio on Banff Ave. Our server Patrick was exceptional.
Overcooked steak and rubbery seafood. The server sais amazing and sympathetic. Not good value.
Food was definitely not cooked fresh. Our meal came out within 10 mins or ordering it. My mashed potatoes were cold. Everything tasted off. I am a big fan of the keg but this was definitely my worst experience there. Was instantly sick after.
We were upstairs & found the ambience is quite a bit less than you’d expect in a Keg. Good spot for a casual night out & great food but I wouldn’t recommend (upstairs at least) for a special occasion.
Potato was cold. Service was slow in beginning. Over priced
Last minute date night, our waiter was fantastic and the food solid as always!
There was no hand soap in the washroom when i went. Also out of a lot of food that i came to this restaurant for.
Service was poor waitress didn’t seem to remember we were there
Excellent evening to dine. We had an infant with us and we were treated well and had a fantastic time.
Excellent food and service. Always a fun place to dine with your family.
The food was delicious as always. However the service was not great compared to our experiences at the Crowfoot location in Calgary. There, our servers are kind and courteous, and are always exceptional. Usually we only go to the Keg for special occasions and typically the servers ask right away if we are celebrating something and then offer a dessert or drink on the house (not expected but we really appreciate it). This time, our server Ryan seemed not only disinterested, he was cold and uninviting. He actually never introduced himself, we learned his name from the table next to us, who he was very chatty with and carried on long conversations with while we waited for him to come over the first time because we didn’t get a drinks menu. Overall, he seemed to not care that we were there and we felt very unwelcome.
Was in Banff as part of a three day birthday celebration. Great place for dinner. Service was excellent, food was good… Everything you’d expect from the keg. Overall a good experience and a definite recommend.
Souper en couple
Food is always excellent and very consistent between The Keg locations as is the atmosphere. The service in particular, the waiter, was not very helpful or attentive throughout the evening which was disappointing; however, we still enjoyed our evening.
Standard Keg quality food and excellent service.
It was nice. Staff was nice a friendly
Portions are small for the price paid. Otherwise, great drink menu and food was delicious, kind of sad that they do not serve gravy for mashed potatoes/fries, but food was delicious still.
For our honeymoon my wife and I decided to go Banff for the weekend, so we booked dinner for 7pm at the keg. We got sat down pretty quickly and someone brought out the menu and left (we had no idea he was our server cause he didn’t say anything to us) after a while the same guy came and ask us if we were ready to order. No hello, no telling us about the special, overall not a good dining experience!
Excellent food, excellent staff, careful to follow health authority COVID requirements. Our server Adrienne was awesome and we appreciated her effort and attentiveness. It was a great place to celebrate a family member's birthday.
We had booked a dinner for a birthday and did indicate that on the reservation but nothing was acknowledged
Our waitress was a delight but it was hard to hear her with her mask. Value for food was overpriced but comparable to other places. Decor was outdated and lacked any sort of welcome feeling, felt a tad depressing. A major irritation was the bathroom as they closed off a sink for washing hands. I understand trying to keep everyone safe but closing off a sink when hand hygiene is so important felt short sighted. Would not go back.
The food was great!!
Service was outstanding. Loved the patio set up. Our steaks were both unfortunately overcooked and were replaced but were overcooked again. Otherwise was a wonderful experience.
Came here for our anniversary trip. The food was not very good. Asked for my steak to be rare and it came back medium well. Overall the other items we ordered weren’t the best.
Not up to the usual Keg experience.
My thoughts are since CARA purchase the chain the whole Keg experience has gone downhill. From Ottawa and discovered the same. I believe that they have lost a bunch of good chefs and the personnel since the take over.
Our visit was barely average. I would compare our experience similar to a family restaurant. With The Keg being labeled as a steak house, I expect something far superior. Our total bill for 4 adults, was $600. We ordered appies, 4 meals, 2 bottles of wine. A value of $300- $400 would have been fair. I wont be back to this location.
The Keg is Consistently awesome no matter where you go in Canada. This location had attentive, friendly and prompt service. The steak and mushrooms Neptune arrived with the temperature and flavor that you expect from the Keg. Steak was done perfectly for all members of the party. Ambiance wasn’t very exciting, but probably due to distancing rules.
My wife and I went there for our anniversary and it was the worst dinning experience I’ve had in a long time. We had the worst seating in the house and when it was brought to the waiters attention there wasn’t any resolution for it. The food!!! The food was brutal the steak from my surf and turf meal was the toughest medium rare piece of meat I’ve ever had. Our drinks were warm! The staff were standing behind our seat talking about how “f$@ked” they were gonna get! A fly flew into my butter for the crab legs! (Not the restaurant’s fault doesn’t that but the server never came back to check on us until our meals were done) totally set of the wrong vibe for our “special” weekend. Don’t go there! Over priced for crumbling establishment!
The only reason I did not give five stars is due to the fact I reserved a week in advance a table by the window, and we were sat in a booth. I mentioned to the greeter that we had made a request to be sat by the window instead. She went to ask someone if that could be arranged and so she proceeded to move us to a window spot. Unfortunately, now my view was of a dumpster, but overall there was more light and I was happy she tried to accommodate the request. Our waitress was great and overall we enjoyed our meal.
Everything was great!!!
The food was ok, the service was lacking, and the overall appearance was dingy.
Good experience with COVID protocols that make sense (distancing, masks for staff, and good sanitization between guests) without being too much of an inconvenience.
