   Pie was nice with plenty of meat but was served with gravy salad and veg which was a strange mix to put salad with gravy. Pizza was very small and certainly not good value for money Wine very expensive per glass £15 for small 125ml.

   A very random experience! We had heard so much about the hotel since the revamp and were in the area so decided to give it a try before potentially booking a stay. We weren’t sure how child friendly the other restaurant was and this one said ‘family friendly’ so we decided to give it a try despite mixed reviews and booked. There are various menus online and also using the Courtyard name aswell as Jolly Hangman - so was a bit confusing to know what the menu was. Upon arrival, we said we’d booked and the staff member was a bit confused, and asked if we meant the other restaurant but assured them was for here (there were only 2 other tables taken so didn’t matter anyway). The menu is incredibly limited, with the four main items and no option to add sides or extras. The food was nice, and didn’t have to wait long, but were told on booking we had 2 hours for table but we overheard the staff tell another table they shut half an hour after our booking (as they were asking for dessert but were unsure if ‘the chef has gone’ (one of the kitchen staff appeared to be sitting charging his phone in the restaurant so unsure really what was going on). When asked for condiments we were given (in the staffs words) ‘the smallest bit of vinegar left’ and sachets of sauce- which you wouldn’t mind if a meal with a bottle of sparkling water didn’t cost £50. Luckily our little one slept through the meal because the only option he could have to eat was tomato pasta for 7.50 (he’s 14 months) so query the family friendly vibe. I think the restaurant is struggling to know what it is- is it casual dining? If so the prices and options don’t reflect this. Is it meant to be a nicer dining experience? Then the vibe and service need to reflect this. We had a good laugh about it, but highly doubt we will return/stay at the hotel.

   Nice place for lunch and lovely hotel! I preferred the old menu as there was more choice. I found the menu limited and expensive- sorry!

   Little disappointed with our meal. Wasn’t much of a variety for choice either. Pizza was nice but the rest didn’t feel anything special

   Excellent meal in the Courtyard restaurant. Quality of food excellent and setting and ambience quirky but full of character. Menu offering very restricted which whilst not a problem for us is a shame as would have liked to have seen better choice. This is very much fine dining rather than pub/ tavern style food.

   The restaurant was very relaxed, service excellent, the food was gorgeous, beautiful presented, as a whole value for money, the only thing I'd say the wine was expensive although delicious.

   Booked my mum and dad in for their anniversary meal. We looked online at the menus and thought they would love it with all the different choices. When they got their it turned out to be a set menu for £50 a person. The food was small and not what I booked them In for! I also gave my bank details and told them to charge the meal to me but instead they gave the bill to my parents && they had to pay. :-( Not very happy at all.

    Definitely not the best meal out I've ever had. Before attending the courtyard bistro, I was only notified a few hours before that they had recently changed the menu despite booking a couple of months in advance. When our drinks arrived, the waiter dropped pretty much the whole tray all over one of our party, which was met with jokes rather than apologies from the waiter. However our main waitress did apologise profusely and offered for the drinks to be removed from the bill. Two members of the party did sustain cuts from glass not cleaned up from the table. One starter was brought out 5-10 mins before the rest of the table. The food was good but not up to the standard expected given the price. When the bill arrived, the drinks were not taken off the bill as promised, and considering the experience we'd had, I feel more could have been done to rectify it. Wouldn't be rushing back any time soon.
