Excellent prix fix menu with an emphasis on mushrooms in each course. Sat outside under the patio covering with lovely views of the yard.
Great service, food was excellent and beautifully plated with several choices as part of their prix fixe. And their outdoor patio is lovely
Have wanted to try this restaurant for some time. Finally able to go. They are still sorting their plans. The table service was very good. We did the Omekase. The oyster was wonderful, and the sturgeon and elk were very impressive. A couple of the items were a little too salty for my taste. Love the creme fraische mushroom drawn in the soup, which was also very good. We had a very pleasant evening.
What an amazing, unique experience! We opted for the 10 course chef’s dinner, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Tasty, unique courses, and the dessert was sublime. Our sommelier and service staff was perfect. I definitely recommend for a special night out!
We eat here every year on our anniversary, the whole experience so good. The service, food, ambiance - all so good. We ate here on our 38th wedding anniversary, enjoyed it immensely!
Very unique tasting menu with local flavors, all of which were delicious. Don't let the "mushroom menu" scare you off, the mushrooms were never overpowering in the dishes, only complimentary. I loved the quaint refurbished old house atmosphere, super cozy and classy at the same time. Chef even came out to say hello. Overall a wonderful experience!
My husband and I were dining here on our honeymoon. The service was top notch! I started to feel sick half way through the dinner and the staff was so helpful bringing me tea and boxing up our final two courses. They were so attentive and really focus on providing great service.
This place was a gem. What a perfect night. The food was on point, the wine paired nicely, and the people were above and beyond, and this made the entire experience. We will be back and thank you for the nice evening Joel Palmer House.
A wonderful place!
Historic house, very friendly staff. Great food. Make amazing things with mushrooms.
Everything we ordered was great, although a bit overpriced. Dinner for 4 was $500 including a bottle of wine. I would not mind paying this for NY or Paris at an exceptional place, but for Dayton Oregon the pricing is way over the top. Not sure if so would go back because of this.
Exquisite food. Impeccable service. Extensive wine list. This is a must go back! A true gem.
Wonderful wait staff. Delicious, local and original food. A perfect experience for that special occasion.
Beautiful setting. Most courses delicious. Elk was not edible. Didn’t care for the fish course either. Very unusual for us. I’ve eaten wild game on different safaris in Africa. We eat fish 4x per week. All else was fantastic
Outstanding meal and outstanding service. Highly recommend the Palmer House to anyone who cares about quality food and service.
Anniversary, and it turn out the new sommelier is our neighbor!!
I was very pleased with food prepared by Chef Chris.
Yes, mushrooms were involved , as everyone knows. Yet the preparation and introduction of other ingredients just blended so well. Then on top of that you add the wine pairings by Sommelier Alexis and the food just popped.
Definitely a fine dining experience and fit for foodies.
The outdoor seating was a bit odd, but the food was very good.
Fantastic service. The quality of the dishes on the tasting menu was disappointing. Dishes had little plate appeal and the flavors did not stand up to the pricing. The best item was the mushroom tart. It was great.
Excellent experience, highly recommend.
We had patio seating with a 6:45 reservation and it was a perfect evening. The staff was very attentive and took care of our every need. The food was fabulous with a very nice selection to choose from. The chef came out afterwards to see how everything was, which added a touch of class to the evening. Would highly recommend Joel Palmer to anyone looking for a romantic, wonderful evening for having dinner.
Wonderful wonderful restaurant. We’re from New Orleans and appreciate and understand good food. This was excellent and very much worth the drive. Ingredients were fresh, sauces were amazing, and the assorted cheese plate at the end was to die for. Wait staff was attentive and friendly. A truly great experience.
Wonderful from start to finish!
Food is excellent and the people are super friendly.
We felt very safe eating here during the Pandemic! Food was great, as well as the ambience! We’ll be back...
No acknowledgement of celebration. The painter lady was much better.
Restaurant was highly recommended to us by several friends and since we were in the area we went. Due to coronavirus we sat outside and the view was very peaceful. Food, service and ambiance exceeded our expectations.
Fantastic meal! Mushroom soup and Elk Steak were excellent. Beef Stroganoff was liked by all 4 of my guests.
Will be coming back.....
This is a lovely setting for outdoor seating. The dinner was fabulous and the service perfect. If you are looking for that special occasion location, this is it!!!
2nd annual birthday dinner with our son. Could not find a bad thing to say if we tried. If we lived in OR you would see us regularly!
Our steak was over cooked. However the waiter took care of this item
An amazing dining experience as always! The mushroom tart is to die for!
Wonderful dinner - the ambiance, food and wait staff service were all incredible. We will definitely go back!
Wonderful food in a garden setting and great wine list.
The oysters, salad, wild mushroom tart and cheesecake were outstanding.
We loved the house white violin chardonnay too!
Fantastic food, amazing service, and wonderful atmosphere for outdoor seating. Highly recommended!
Everything was very nice except we waited for easily 15 minutes before anyone came near us. Even then we had to flag someone down to get service. Some sort of confusion and they promptly responded which we appreciated. Still, that continued throughout the meal. It was unclear that the right hand knew what the left hand was doing.
Wonderful outdoor dinner. The service is incredible and the food is delicious. Well worth the trip!
Always great! Very friendly and personable staff who were very vigilant about doing what they can to keep a safe distance when can. Food came out amazing and their wine selections is local and great as well. I will always recomend this place if you want to go out for a nice dinner and you love mushrooms. Still good even if mushrooms are not your favorite thing.
This was our first dining out experience since the covid 19 lock down & restrictions.
what a treat it was. We dined on the patio. It was very comfortable and thoroughly enjoyable. All employees wore face masks and the tables were spaced far apart. All of our food was delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant. The chef/owner came out during our meal to see how everything was. We will definitely be returning soon I hope.
