Positioned on the East Side Beltline trail, The James Room is a dark and moody cocktail lounge that is meant to be a place where you can leave your stresses at the door and immerse in the energetic vibrations of our cozy and intimate space. Upon entry, an upscale coffee shop takes your gaze. During the day, the cafe intriguingly offers unique flavors such as sea salt lavender and rosemary sage, or you can opt for a classic vanilla or caramel addition to your joe if you fancy. A few paces away is an inconspicuous door disguised as a bookcase, leading to the speakeasy area equipped with a peculiar mood. The atmosphere feels intimate yet communal and invokes a sense of leisure. The fine leathers and premium seating upgrade your typical lounge visit to an elevated, exclusive treat. Once you get settled, indulge in our savory light bites and carefully hand-crafted cocktail menu...and if you're lucky, maybe even the sounds of a DJ spinning some of your favorite hits.

The vibes are realllly cool at the James room, really great hidden speakeasy spot. Great for date nights and nights out on the town.

Pros- The spot is definitely ornate, made to feel as an exclusive, intimate lounge. The music was spot on, thanks to DJ, giving life with every note. The Harissa shrimp was seasoned just right & the Espresso martini tasted awesome. Cons- I ordered another drink- pineapple + rum + something else. It tasted watered down. I sent it back & noticed another person had ordered the same & sent their’s back. Perhaps, the soda was flat, or they mistook the rum for something else. Two others in my party ordered drinks & waited 40-45 min for them. The place was packed and there was only Jordan, who warned us to be patient, but acted like an angry addict when settling the bill. Initially, he attempted to charge me for the watered down drink + my friends drinks. The bartender was a black young lady & made sure to take cafe of the entire room, as she revealed to us that Jordan didn’t tell her the drink order. Overall, I believe if the place was fully staffed, most things could have been averted.

The host and our server, Jordan, truly made this an amazing experience. We were sat almost immediately, the server was very busy but still gave us a lot of attention, and food was surprisingly fast, fresh, and delicious. Will recommend to anyone

Music didn’t match the vibe. I mean I like 90 and 2000s rap but not what I anticipated for a cool speakeasy.

This was my friends first visit and my 2nd. The staff were kind and attentive. Loved the vibes and music for sure. Will recommend to my friends.

Our experience here was amazing! We went on a Tuesday and they had a dj playing good R&B music. It was a little loud for it to be a chill bar, but it was a lot of fun and everyone was dancing in their respective areas. Our service was amazing. Very attentive—And they give you water without asking! Huge plus for me. The Peach Cobbler was our go to drink. Definitely recommend! I had a reservation set, but most days I'm sure you can walk in. It was the perfect amount of people.

I love a good speakeasy. Cocktails were great. I didn’t eat so I can’t speak to the food this time. The music was a bit loud. I took a date there for a nightcap and we literally were yelling but were only 3 feet from each other. The music was cool, just waaaaaaaay too loud.
