I booked table for 3 persons on July 6th for August 3rd @ 2.45pm- to celebrate Belfast Pride and my friends birthday, Entered from High Street at 2.25. Had drink at bar after informing member of staff on door we had reservation for 2.45. Were shown 'next door' and basically told we could have either hot dogs or burgers. Knew it would be impossible to get somewhere else to eat for lunch, otherwise would have left. Burgers and hot dogs with fries were grand, but not the celebratory lunch we had been looking forward to. Had another beer with our 'fast food' , requested bill, paid and left by door we had entered to discover other diners were eating proper lunch food, which all smelled delicious. I initially had thought there was something wrong in kitchen, hence being offer only fast food - obviously not. We were both annoyed and disappointed. Felt it was way too busy to look for someone to complain to. Instead wrote lengthy email to restaurant on Sunday 4th. Still waiting a reply.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and drinks in the Jailhouse. The service is top class- we were served by a girl with long blonde hair, she was absolutely fantastic. The meal was outstanding. The only thing I would say is that the noise level was very high, although that is no fault of the staff. Well done to the staff of the jailhouse. I would definitely recommend.
Food service slightly slow. But everything else great
Chips were greasy and steak was tough. Service was ok but no-one asked if we'd enjoyed our meal
Brilliant place for meeting up and eating together. Well organised with great staff, surrounded by people having a good time.
Definitely going back...!
Dinner on a Saturday evening (8pm), the food was excellent and the service was impeccable... great location and decor, however the only minor downside was the noise level... if that could be addressed (just a bit) we would become regular customers... but overall I would recommend the Jailhouse.
Really enjoyed the food at the Jailhouse. We had the mussels and they were fabulous. The building itself was also really interesting place to visit and had a lot of history behind it. It was also great value for money and the service was fast and efficient with friendly staff.
The food and setting was really lovely. Our server was very friendly however, we had to ask to see a dessert menu. This may have been owing to the fact it was very busy.
We all really enjoyed our dishes and would definitely go back.
Not great for a meal seated in a walk way with people constantly waking by
Food was amazing staff friendly and have a vast array of whiskeys gins and beers a must visit for any tourists visiting our busy city highly recommend
Food and service was excellent. Lovely atmosphere too. Booking table beforehand essential
I really enjoyed our meal in The Jailhouse. Lots of variety and the staff were attentive. I thought the cost was very reasonable!
I would definitely visit again!
Food and service excellent, but the tables for two at the side of the bar are in a bad position, with bar patrons standing right against your table, watching you eat!
Food and staff amazing. Disappointed on arrival to a pre booked table, to be seated beside the TV. Our waiter managed to get us moved just as our main course arrived.
Great food, great service I would highly recommend
Excellent food and atmosphere
We had to wait 10-15 minutes on our table and had to do so with our drinks in our hands standing beside our table waiting on the previous customers to leave. The staff could have advised us to remain seated upstairs instead. 3 of our party of 4 had mussels and were surprised at how small the portions were considering they’d asked for large.
Had the worst dining expierence I've ever had in Belfast. Been here before and would highly recommend it but not this time. As we were celebrating a 30th birthday we thought it would be perfect. We were very wrong. Terrible table in an extremely busy bar even though we had booked at table in the restaurant. Table wasn't ready when we arrived and were left standing for a good 10mins while the removed people from it.
Food is very good, however the service was terrible and the staff extremely rude.
We had booked our table back in a December for 6 people. When we arrived two round tables were prepared with my name on both. Suddenly a staff member appeared and tried to move one of tables away to another group of tables as he was trying to make space for another party of 8. When I said to him that both tables were clearly reserved with my name on them and that 6 people could definitely not fix around one single table he turned around and said ‘he would deal with me in a minute’ as he was clearly trying to convince the other party to take the makeshift table he was trying to prepare. They looked equally unimpressed as it was obvious the staff had overbooked and did not have enough tables available.
The same staff member also then argued with me that my name shouldn’t have been on both tables...Despite the fact I had clearly made a reservation for dinner for 6 people.
When we eventually were allowed to sit at our tables, nobody came to take any drink orders and we had to order at the bar. After the food came again nobody came to check if we wanted any drinks and again we had to order ourselves at the bar.
Finally, when we asked for the bill we had been overcharged for side orders that we never ordered.
All in all a very disappointing experience which is a shame as the food is very good!
We had a group of approximately 10 people at the Jailhouse and all were very impressed with the service as well as the buzz of the bar downstairs. Great amount of space which is ideal for a situation where people are coming and going for a gathering. The service staff were very attentive and friendly so I'm sure most of us will be back at a future date. Easy to book and the food was very well presented and delicious.
Good food and service, table terrible, booked it but was in the passage between the bar and a wall on a busy sat night.
Went for lunch, food good pub food. Seems not long open as they still seem to be finding their feet.
A lovely little spot for afternoon lunch. Menu choice perfect for all.
We made an online booking at the Jailhouse for Sunday Lunch. My mother-in-law was with us and she didn't fancy the wooden chairs - we were swiftly moved into Henry's where there is softer upholstered seating - no fuss or bother. Henry's shares the same menu and kitchen as the Jailhouse. We were a family group of 5 and we all picked from the Sunday Roast menu - a mix of chicken & beef with all the trimmings. The food was excellent quality and really good value. The service and atmosphere were very friendly. Henry's is equipped with big screen TVs showing football on Sundays. The volume wasn't loud and it didn't bother us at all but you have been warned if that's not your thing!! All in all, we had a great afternoon!
Live music Friday’s are brilliant . Lovely atmosphere and great waitress.
Had a great lunch and some cocktails at the jailhouse last Saturday! A great find and we will definitely be back!
First time there. Fantastic food and great service.
Would definitely go back.
We arrived and it was exstreamly loud we had to leave went back next day for lunch and the soup and roast dinner was cold .I find this place good for drinks but not food .
Delighted to visit jailhouse , it's an amazing bar , the food was really good and the service was first class.
Good food and beer selection, will be back.
Food and service was very good. Only issue was the room our table was in was FREEZING! We all sat with our coats on for the duration of our meal.
Wanted a nice birthday dinner for my partner and made the occasion known at time of booking. They put us at a bar table right beside the noisy bar. Service was not good, as for a specific gin and was told they didn't have it to later see the said gin behind the bar. Asked if we could be moved and it was an immediate "no".. . Not even let me find out for you. Not impressed at all and won't be back.
We had a brilliant evening on our Anniversary Good atmosphere Good food and above all really friendly staff
Henry’s and the Jailhouse do look amazing but when we arrived they had no idea about our booking but did manage to get us a table. Guy who looked after us on arrival was lovely and did make sure we got seated ok. This is where the customer service ended. We had our meal and no one came back near us. I had to go to the bar and ask for a dessert menu which we got, pity no one came back to us to see what we’d like to order..... I will probably go back but with other establishments around Belfast offering the same ambiance The jailhouse would need to up their customer service
Had a really great dinner with friends, not sure of who served us but she made the dinner. Very friendly always made sure we where happy drinks where full. Told us the histroy of the bar and the new set up. Made sure we got a seat in the bar. Food was good and had a real, nice home feel to it. Would return
Staff were friendly but very busy so service a bit haphazard . Food was pretty good standard pub fare, limited menu. Alot of very drunk noisy women and the music was quite loud. Great bar but not somewhere for a quiet meal.
When you enter at 6pm on a Friday evening and the bar is totally packed, it's hard to know where to wait to get a table. You're 4 people deep at the bar and waiting to get a waiter's attention could be better avoided if you had someone at peak times greeting people at the door and taking their reservation booking.
