The food was not as good as before😬 enjoyed our servers but the food was not as good as before especially the pork!
We all came in with high expectations of The Jacobson; all of us have been here before. We were very disappointed with how long our food took to get out to us, then once it was served it was another let down. My dish, the scallops, was mediocre at best. My three companions were unimpressed with their food as well, and we even told our server we wanted the chef to know about our meals. Jessica was our server and was great-she apologized for the food being late and had the manager give us cards with $10 to use for our next visit. Three of us will not be returning to the Jacobson. This was a special evening and unfortunately The Jacobson was an epic failure as a dining experience. What was once a destination I'd promote to my friends and family is now a place I will steer them away from.
The menu online was different than the menu we were presented. I ordered the grilled romaine salad and it was basically a soft stock of romaine with unremarkable salad dressing-nothing unique. My date ordered the cioppino which was served with a side of tasteless cauliflower small potatoes and a bland chunk of corn. The cioppino itself was full of what tasted like canned stewed tomatoes, no broth, a few shrimp, and what tasted like imitation crab meat. $145 later we made a decision we would not be coming back and can't recommend. The service was equally rushed and inattentive at best. 👎🏻
This place has the best hamburger I have had the pleasure to consume; and, the fries are the real deal as well. The service was great. The atmosphere was vibrant.
When we arrived. The hostess walked us by several empty tables and took us to a back corner away from the rest of the restaurant. We asked to be seated at one of the other available tables. She took us to another table past all of these open tables. Again we asked why we could not sit there. She said "we try and seat people to accommodate the servers". Had we not been meeting another couple we would have walked out. I had the seafood Cioppino. It was less than mediocre and grossly overpriced. The few bites of seafood were rubbery. The server was nice. We won't go back.
Typically we have excellent meals at the Jacobsen however our last two experiences have been poor. On one occasion our waiter was extremely rude and inattentive. Our last visit also left us with undercooked and cold food.
The bottomless bellini's are great and so is the service!
I like the restaurant. But the garage with the Jacobson name on it will not be validated.
Service was awful! Waited too long every length of the way. Messaged them afterward. No response. ☹️
This was my second time at the Jacobson. The first time was a five star experience. The atmosphere was good again but the food was a little off thier game. Last time I was there on a weekday with a small crowd. This time it was packed and though the ingredients we're still good, the execution was a little off. I recommend going on a weeknight for the best experience. The smoked butterscotch pudding was to die for.
everything was good. I was hoping to be wowed, but wasn't! Nice outdoor seating. Service to get main entree was a little slow.
We went for Easter brunch. The food was ok, had a great appetizer but our entrees were only so so. It would’ve all been fine but the service was horrible. We had to go to the bar to get water and more drinks as our food came and we didn’t see our server for about 20 minutes. Needless to say my food probably would have been fine but it was cold by the time I had any water. Very disappointed.
My parents and I enjoyed Easter Brunch at The Jacobson. Our server, Matt, took excellent care of us and made sure we had everything we needed in a timely manner. Our food was delicious with an excellent presentation. The bottomless Mimosas and Bellinis were most tasty. It was a very inviting space to be on a cold, winter-like spring day.
We enjoyed our Easter Brunch, however our booth was near the kitchen and the front door, which wasn’t the best spot. We did enjoy the meal and will return.
Easter fell on April Fools Day and the joke was on us. Our basket of brunch bakery treats was a bowl with a slice of cake and a very plain white flour piece of coffee cake. Then our brunch plates took 45 minutes to arrive. And the food was cold. No visit or apology from the manager. Very disappointed. Won’t be going back.
The bottomless mimosas were a very good value!
Always excellent food and great drink options. Fantastic brunch with bottomless bloody marys.
My partner and I went on a Saturday night. The restaurant was mostly empty. Our appetizer came fairly quick (20mins), but the main course took around an hour to receive. I ordered the roasted cauliflower dish and it was lukewarm and not thoroughly cooked. The dish tasted like a cold salad to me rather than a main course meal. Very disappointed in the quality of the food served for the price that it is marked at. The waitress wasn't very attentive and it felt like we were forgotten for the night. We also ordered dessert that took an additional 30mins...and was not very impressive. The overall visit at this restaurant was two hours. The time we spent waiting was unacceptable. There were only two other tables, and a couple at the bar in the restaurant during the two hours we were there. I can understand a wait being longer on a busy night, but this night was dead. I will not return to this restaurant.
That night there was a large company dinner going on in the main restaurant so we were seated in the backroom. There was only one waiter for the entire room and it took a very long time for him to take our drink and food order. Our appetizer came out after a very long time and he immediately brought our food within 1 minute. When asked why, he said the appetizer took longer to make (baked) and he put the main course order in too early. Our main courses were luke-warm, and the fries were cold, so the plates were probably ready and waiting for the appetizer. I had been to this restaurant once before and had a marvelous meal, so I will assume the kitchen was in chaos because of the huge company party there that night. However, the restaurant should have planned to have enough wait staff for the regular customers, and that did not occur. Overall, it was disappointing.
Upon arrival we were seated promptly. I have food allergy challenges, and I selected The Jacobson after reviewing menus and options of other crossroads area restaurants. I called the restaurant on Saturday to find out if "Brunch" also included being able to order off the regular menu.
Sadly the server indicated that I was given mis-information and that only the items on the 'brunch' menu, were indeed options.
Luckily I was able to order the 'Beet Salad' I had previously identified prior to selecting The Jacobson. We ordered wine and our entrees.
After the wine was delivered, the Server returned and told us that neither option we had ordered was actually available after all, because they were out of key ingredients.
I begrudgingly ordered something else, as did my friend. We discussed that it seemed to be a rather amateur move to be out of multiple ingredients...
Of course we were flabbergasted when the server appeared again explaining that they could not make the '2nd Choice' entrees...
Ultimately due to my allergy issues, my lunch became a plate of lettuce with dressing, that would have been considered a 'side salad' at most upscale dining establishments. My companion ordered a salad off the menu since the item she ultimately preferred was not available.
Server was apologetic but didn't really go out if his way to make sure we had a good experience.
Limited New menu. Food was okay but for the price I expected better. Also no kids menu so we had to buy a $14 plate of Mac-n-cheese.
Parking was terrible, indicate they have valet but they do not. Food was fair, service was very good. not sure I would go back because of parking. Although now I know to park in the garage. We were told the valet was supposed to have been removed from the website. It wasn't, hopefully it is now. We had a wonderful server and the food was good. It was pretty noisy but that's to be expected in an energetic, crossroads district restaurant.
Didn't realize it was a basketball weekend when I made the reservation. On a good day they do not have enough parking so on this particular weekend it was impossible. The noise level was off the chart and my friends even commented they thought they were at Tanner's! I had checked their online menu before making the reservation and I was told that menu had been changed when I tried to order something from it. What I did order was cold when served. The only bright note was the waiter whose upbeat personality garnered him a nice gratuity.
We have been here several times. Never a bad experience! Oscar is a great server and has taken great care of us! Our only disappointment this last visit was the portion size of the entree. This was the first time this has been an issue. We were a little disappointed but at this point that won’t stop us from coming back in the future.
If you are fortunate to have Jed as your attendant, you are in for a super experience.
The Jacobson is our go to brunch spot, especially with the bottomless mimosa deal! Our server, Randall, was awesome! We’ve had him before and love his dry sense of humor! He made our morning that much more enjoyable!
We went for my birthday brunch on Saturday and I must say it was amazing! The mimosas, the bloody Mary's, the service, and the chicken and waffles were incredible. Can't wait to go back.
Everything was perfect! John,a colorful character and our sever, set the tone for our fantastic anniversary dinner. Loved that he told us about the history of the building. The handcrafted cocktails and food was wonderful! The pork confit was so tender and flavorful! Butterscotch Pudding was the perfect ending to our meal. We will definitely be back!
This was my first visit back after 4 years and I found the waiter to be a bit snide. He seemed annoyed with the question we asked about our appetizer and when I requested that my protein be cooked to a specific temperature, he rolled his eyes at me. Needless to say, I won’t be back any time soon.
My first 6 meals there were pure delight, and I highly recommended it every chance I got. I don't eat beef often and craved a hamburger, so I tried my first Jacobson burger March 16. It was so burnt on the outside that there was no juice in a medium burger. The waitress checked on us BEFORE I took my first bite and at the end of the meal to clear the plates. My friend and I ate half our burgers because we were hungry and our waitress didn't't care enough to check back on us. We didn't finish our meal because of the overwhelming taste of char. The waitress offered a weak apology and the check. Only after I wrote on the check that the food and service was very disappointing did a manager bring us gift cards for our NEXT visit. I do no know if I will return to use them. The Jacobson is not what it used to be. I will now recommend that my friends skip it.
This was a terrible experience. Although the restaurant was practically empty, we waited quite a while before the server ever acknowledged us and then she seemed to have an attitude that we inconvenienced her by our presence. After ordering, she never offered us more water while we waited. After approximately 45 minutes, she advised us that they were short staffed in the kitchen and that there was a delay in preparing our food. After about an hour passed, we still did not receive our food. They seemed totally indifferent that we had to leave - to get back to work. They were not apologetic, never offered us any bread or tried to make this an enjoyable experience. They never seemed to think it was a problem that we sat there for an extended period of time, and when we got up to leave without ever receiving food, they were totally unconcerned. DId not offer any apologies, compensation - nothing. This is not a place we could ever recommend.
Food was incredible!
Failed to mention they were short staffed in the kitchen so we waited over an hour for our food.
Went with friends for Sunday brunch- bottomless cocktails, DELICIOUS food, and great service. We are already plotting our next visit so we can get more goat cheese and roasted grapes!!
In the summer, this place is probably great...but on a cold March evening it was just average. The food was fine, but not "award winning" as stated in the menu. The staff was helpful and very willing to do whatever was needed to make the experience great. Unfortunately, the food just didn't match the atmosphere inside. The cocktails, on the other hand, were great. So if we needed a place to grab a drink on a patio in May, this might be an option.
Although this is a historic building-up keep is not prohibitive. The women’s restroom was unkempt. Ceiling tile was rusted. No toilet seat liners. Food, service and music was good.
Great service. Too loud for s date. Great choices for drinks & food.
We absolutely loved our server John who gave wonderful suggestions and highlights of both the cocktail and dinner menus. The food was amazing. The only drawback is parking.
