A glance at The Jacobson's variety of contemporary American cuisine yields a collection for meat lovers, vegetarians and vegans. Much like an artist who draws inspiration from his or her own environment, diners in search of muse are encouraged to mix and match tastes when ordering appetizer & entrees from the Mingle & Center Stage sections of the menu.
The Jacobson offers a seasonal, scratch kitchen, and boasts one of Kansas City's more progressive bar programs, including handmade craft and barrel-aged cocktails, and The Jacobson's original flask service.

We ended up staying there for several hours. Our server, Randall, was outstanding - excellent at recommending food and drink options for a small group. We will definitely return for our next group dinner and will hopefully be able to request Randall's services!
Excellent food & service. Very knowledgeable about gluten & accommodating for my daughter with Celiac.
Eric was great
Food was average
Parking is terrible
Excellent Brunch, we’ll be back for sure!
Food is just OK and doesn't justify the price. Burgers were fine and fries were decent. Octopus is very tough. Unless you want a patio, just go to Beer Kitchen or one of the other dozen places with a better burger.
Excellent brunch, we will be back!
Love the food and location, service was super slow.
We love this restaurant but this night the restaurant was very stuffy and the service was extremely slow. It took the server 15 min to bring our wine and another 15 min after that to take our order. The restaurant didn’t seem busy and we did have a reservation, so not sure what was going on. The food was amazing and delicious as usual!
Okay service, great wine and food, air conditioning was lacking. It was SO hot. We’re excited to return to try more food and drinks soon.
Our reservation was scheduled for the 1600 re-opening after brunch. We were seated quickly and served just as swift. Our waiter Jed was very knowledgeable of the menu so we each easily decided what we wanted. The food was made to order and did not take long to reach our table. I had the cedar plank salmon and it was delicious. I would absolutely suggest the Jacobson if you are looking for a nice evening out.
We went for a brunch/lunch on a Saturday and it was a very loud and lively atmosphere. For our group, it worked out great, but it could be a little overwhelming if that's not the vibe you're looking for in a brunch with friends. Our server did a great job, but unfortunately she also had a very large table in her section that were all paying separately and we got stuck paying after them, so we were a little late to an appointment we had to go to. However, I am not blaming her at all since we should have let her know ahead of time that we had somewhere to be. Fortunately, it was just down Central Street, so we weren't terribly late.
Brunch menu was different than listed on both open table and website.
Good venue however for such a small place and to have a band (singer) made it impossible to talk to others at your table...I noticed other tables struggling with that too.
Horrendous service and food quality. This restaurant does not deserve a 4+ star rating. Book elsewhere.
Service started ok before waiter abandoned us. Parking bit disappointing as they no longer validate for the garage marketed with their name. Would’ve done street parking if we’d known. Food was good.
I was there for Havana nights and it was a very enjoyable evening.
Great food, serve, ambiance.
The food was very disappointing. Charged 18.00 for a very blah French dip. The special chicken dinner was not very good either. Had excellent service from our waitress. Bartender outside was not friendly. Wonderful atmosphere. Would come back for drinks and atmosphere.
Went for happy hour and got literally one of each appetizer on the menu which was super fun and a great deal! Im super upset that I can’t remember our servers name because she was fantastic, and it was her first day! She was able to describe all the food items and gave us drink recommendations. Next we’ll be going for brunch!
It was a great business meeting where everyone made a Happy plate. Great drinks also.
Lauren and her side kick , Chris (trainee) gave us excellent service! The bottomless Bellini's didn't hurt either.
Service was outstanding. Our server understood that we were heading to the Royals game and made every attempt to give us prompt and professional service. The bottomless Bloody Marys were outstanding and the food was delicious! Thank you Jacobson staff!
We have been before, and loved the place. This time we were seated outside, lovely venue, but service was really poor. In fact, we were seated for about 10-15 minutes and finally got up and got our own drinks.
and ask for a waiter. The outside was NOT busy, so that was not the issue. Food was wonderful, drinks good. We are visiting again on July 3 hopefully it will be better.
We were seated inside, they have a couple rooms. It was a cool room in the back with a bar, couch, a few tables and a nice atmosphere. As soon as you walk in front door, you notice a slight scent in the air of cigars - found out there's a cigar bar next door - separate business. Didn't bother us too much though.
Service was great and food very tasty. Had the apps of salmon on cracker - 3 of them and pork bites - about 8 of them and very flavorful! I ordered apps beets and brussal sprouts for my meal and the portions were quite large - could only eat half! Root vegetable has was same size and good too. Another friend got scallops - 4 of them on quinoa - delicious! Drinks were all good too. They have a fun patio too.
We purchased the Give & Partake brunch book and deicided to try out the Jacobson. We made reservations for 3 at 11:15 am and got right in upon arrival, even getting a seat on the beautiful patio. They had just recently began doing a buffet for brunch so all 3 of us decided to get that. All the food on the buffet was delicious and they had a wide variety of offerings. The waffles stood out to all of us. The texture was amazing, toppings offered were delicious and they had these tiny little crystalized sugar granules in them that gave them a slight crunch. Bottomless mimosas/bloodies/bellinis and an amazing server helped make this a stand out experience!! We will be back!
Great brunch. We will be back!
HORRIBLE service!!! We waited over 25 minutes to even receive water and then an additional absurd wait to order at which we ordered everything at once. The food was good but the service was so absolutely atrocious the entire meal that it does not make up for it.
Should not have even bothered to make a reservation because it was not worth it.
Service could have been better, because everything else was amazing. We waited almost 25/30min per drink. Busy or not, on a Friday we expected more timely service. Food and ambiance was great.
We went to the Jacobson for brunch. I ordered the bottomless Bellini and the shakshuka and it came out piping hot. I was expectinghe Bellini to be peach, but it seemed more like strawberry than peach. The shkshuka was pretty good and the bread it came with was spectacular. My husband got the breakfast buffet. He liked it and I thought the pastas looked delicious. Our service was ok. We had to wait for a while to get drinks.
This was great casual dining. Interesting combinations on the menu. Great cocktails. Service was attentive but not smothering. Convenient transition to entertainment after 9. Made for a great night with friends.
The only thing unpleasant was the hostess being pretty rude and saying we couldn’t move to a booth even though several booths were available. The waiter however was fine with it and allowed us to move. Food was delicious and well worth the drive.
Changed menu for brunch
They changed their menu, there was a buffet with premise items. Few items in buffet were actually cooked in the restaurant.
Service was a little slow based on the number of people. They also need a French Rosè on the wine list. They used to serve a good Rosè.
Excellent mother’s day brunch! My favorite dish was the chicken and waffles, so good!
We had a 7:30 reservation. When we arrived they told us that they were having an event at 9 and if we wanted to stay we’d have to pay $5. Our server was wonderful and the food was great but about 8:30 they stared flipping the restaurant into a club. We were rushing to finish our food as they turned the lights out and strobe lights were turned on and that stared blaring techno. My friend and I went to the restroom and as we headed back to our table to meet our dates the hostess confronted us and asked us if we had paid. We let her know we were leaving. It was awkward. I’d have preferred to have relaxed and not felt rushed out. Bummer experience.
Our party had a lovely dinner. Food was fantastic. A bit dark, but we adjusted. :)
We have been here before and loved it but overall our last visit was not great. Started with parking was a hassle. Next we had a reservation but they tried to seat right by the front door and restaurant was not close to being busy. Appetizer and drinks were good. Ordered the scalps - super salty. Another in the party ordered the seafood medley and got sick later that evening- they believe it was from this dish. Overall just disappointed, especially since our previous experience was really good.
All the staffs were really friendly and attentive when we arrived. Our server was the best! He was friendly and concerned since I was pregnant and sitting in a high table. So he moved us to a lower table to make sure I was comfortable. He made a special drink for me since I couldn't have an alcoholic drink without me asking for one. He was so kind and conversational; the kitchen had messed up my husband's dish and forgot to put mussels in it.
He looked at my husband's dish and knew right away before we noticed it. Excellent food and service but sadly I couldn't eat a lot of the food on the menu due to my pregnancy. Definitely will be back after the baby is born to try other dishes.
Was just really over priced for the quality and portion size. The atmosphere was really nice but I reserved a table for 5 and felt crowded in the back corner at a booth for 4 with a chair pulled up for our 5th party member.
