Simply a perfect dinner. From start to finish it was extremely impressive.
The Ivy is amazingly consistent after being in business for decades. There is nothing stodgy about the menu. A broad range of delicious options - from nouvelle Caiifornia, to Cajun, to Texas, etc.. Great service.
The whole experience was delightful, excellent service, great attitude from waiters and food was perfect! But it is a expensive restaurant, I will go back only for special occasions.
Adorable spot with beautiful fresh flowers everywhere. Extensive menu and the brunch was great.
As always, the food was outstanding!
This place is an LA landmark. So naturally, I was excited to check it out. I should have known that being offered free champagne upon checking in was just to butter me up for a long wait (with a reservation) and poor service.
It took us 20 minutes to be seated and required me to check in again after my initial check in. The staff apologized and said if we wanted to be seated outside it would be an additional 30 min. We took the table immediately inside but it would have been nice to be given that choice before waiting 20 min already.
Once we got to our table it took another 15 and two waiters to get water. I understand they were busy but we also had to inquire about the complimentary scones before receiving them. Would not recommend to a friend for the lack of service and the lack of apologies for being seated and served late.
The vibe is great and a nice place to snag a pic with your girlfriend/boyfriend. Decor was amazing and the restaurant is overflowing with fresh roses.
Had a great time! Even though no birthday cake, but we had so much food we just wanted to get outside to stretch. Place is super busy on a Sunday, as expected with such a reputation. Will definitely be back on the next vacation.
Brian made our first Ivy outing with our 20 month old son delightful..understanding the needs of parents attempting to enjoy Sunday funday.
Great experience for mom and son trip
I grew up going to the Ivy. I have been going for over 30 years. I love the Ivy. I registered for the dishes when I got married. It has been a constant in my life. I was so excited to take my daughter their for the first time for her 14th birthday. We sat down at the table anxiously awaiting our warm, round, brown bread, but it never came. I asked several times, they said it was "in the oven". It never came. They were out of swordfish, at 7:30, the only thing I have ever ordered there for dinner for thirty years. The ice tea even lost it's luster. No crab cakes, no crumble. The on the house dessert came, it was very thoughtful, but by then, the girls had enough. We had waited for 25 minutes for our table and they were beat. The crowd was beautiful, as usual, the restaurant was packed and the patio could not have been more lovely, but it just wasn't the same. We left, walked passed the large dispensary across the street and and went to the Milk Bar for crack pie. Times are a changing.
Ivy was AMAZING!!!! Lobster ravioli is to die for!!!
I've dined at The Ivy several times while visiting LA. The tables are very close together. Service is okay, not great. Food is good, but pricey. They will bring out a special dessert to celebrate birthdays, which is nice.
Went to the Ivy for breakfast. We were greeted with a glass of champagne. The service and the food was excellent. Beautiful decor, like somebody's home. We'll be back.
I was really hoping for a wonderful experience and dining experience. Suffice to say the food simply falls way short in flavor, presentation and value.
Place was ok food was good table was awful my lobster plate didnt even fit on the table thats how small the table was overall its ok.
Always excellent, food and service are the best. They know how to treat you
Great place! Was happy to bring my daughter here when she was visiting LA!
The experience was pretty great! But the food was the show stealer! Amazing, absolutely amazing! The sea bass with ginger curry was prepared perfectly and the Killer BananaSplit was, well, Killer! 3 of us destroyed that delicious treat!
Really sad to see how far downhill the quality has gone. Truly mediocre.
Food and environment are great, but our server was a complete jerk. For example, he was legitimately agitated when we asked him "what's good here?", and when we asked if we had any other food coming he said "I don't know this is what you put in." Really? This is not a cheap meal but my family and I are more than happy to spend the money if the experience is on par with the cost. Unfortunately our server's performance was poor even for a fast food restaurant.
Our first visit. Quaint place, very popular, eclectic decor.
Saturday brunch, wait staff is amazing. Food was top shelf. A little on the pricey side but the free champagne, generous service and great food made it worth the visit.
Bad servise !!
bad communication !!! best decor good roses ...
Service late !!
In differents !!!
Waiter went missing for long periods...poured own wine. Ordered coffees after dinner but they never came. Most annoying (at 9:30pm) they starting cleaning the surrounding tables and stacking chairs...only 1:40 hours after we were seated. We dine at The Ivy often...this was the worst ever....
Restaurant setting is really cute, ambience is nice and the service was good - if anything they are over attentive and you get asked the same thing by three different waiters one after the other. The food though is really bad for the price, it sounds good on the menu but it is the quality I would expect when paying $8 per meal and not $35 per meal minimum. If you go it’s for the experience, not the food.
Unfortunately I was impressed,Caesar Salad was just OK. A 4 slice pizza was $75..seriously! Charming decor and cute place, service was good but felt like the waiter was up selling everything! Like the complimentary Champagne when you arrive, but ultimately you pay for it!
Waiter was not up to the usual Ivy standard. Amazing how that can change the experience.
Absolutely delicious from start to finish. Pricey, but worth every single penny. You will not be disappointed, I promise you.
Was seated at a table just inside the door that really shouldn't be there. Every employee used the back of my chair as a handle to turn with as they moved to and from the patio (en route to the kitchen). Also it was a cold and rainy night and the table felt like it was outside. My daughter and I were chilled the entire time. Also, the waiter took a very long time before coming to get a drink order and blamed the house computer system (for having to hand deliver food orders to the kitchen). The fries and chicken were sub par and therefore not worth the exorbitant prices I paid. Years ago, I think that table wouldn't have existed, the waiter would have been more present, the food better.
A little bit overprice, but overall is VeryGood
Crowdy at times
Wonderful! Best restaurant in LA!!!
Been coming here since the 80's. Its very nice and consistently great food.
We were greeted with a free glass of bubbly so our dinner started out great. I had the delicious grilled vegetable salad with lobster. My date had the spaghetti with meatballs that was quite substantial. After a dessert of brownie and ice cream we were given two free chocolate chip cookies for the road. We’ll be back when we return to the area!
This was our first visit for dinner (pre-theatre downtown) so we arrived early and were seated immediately, enjoyed the quiet unhurried pace and had a lovely delicious dinner leaving with plenty of time to spare. Food and service were excellent and accommodating; we asked for some changes and they were happy to make them.. great fresh sea bass.. perfectly cooked vegetables.. crab cakes, salad all wonderful..
Excellent service also Matt miss fear valet parking highly recommend
Such a great experience!
We were received with complementary champagne, outstanding service and the quality of food was excellent.
I’ve been going to the Ivy in Santa Monica for a very long time and it was a long time since I went to the Ivy in Beverly Hills on Robertson. The service was horrible, the food was subpar, and they even brought us out free desserts at the end of the meal to make up with forgetting one of our main courses which they ended up taking off the table because they were unhappy that we were not pleased. I would never again go back to this restaurant
So disappointed in The Ivy this visit. Service was terrible and dinner was mediocre at best. We’ve always looked forward to dining at The Ivy when in LA, but I unfortunately I think this was our last time.
The expierence is awesome. However the food was pretty plain for the price. But again its the experience, name and location you pay for.
