The Ivy Ratings and Reviews
Four best girl friends had lunch at The Ivy to celebrate one of hers 70th birthday. It was a surprise to her and had been on her bucket list. She was so thrilled she started to cry. It was a beautiful setting, great service and delicious food. Along with the champagne and birthday cake with the huge sparkler on it, we had everyone singing happy birthday to her. We will definitely come back again.
I took my daughter for her 50th birthday. It was a wonderful experience. The entire wait staff, including the parking valet, could not have been nicer. The food was excellent. We shared a pizza and then we each had the grilled calamari. Fabulous. The special birthday dessert just topped off the whole meal. We can't wait to visit The Ivy again!
It was my birthday & 2 girlfriends had taken me for lunch on Saturday, but we chose to go their on Sunday too, as it’s my FAVORITE restaurant!!!!! The food is delicious, the service is stellar, and no other place looks as beautiful as The Ivy!!!!!
I adore the shop next door too, Indigo Seas. The owner, Lynn Von Kersting, has FABULOUS taste. It’s just FUN!!!!!
This is not my first time at The Ivy and it will not be the last. I adore this little paradise in the middle of the city. The food is lovely and the service is perfection. One can sit outside and enjoy the weather or if one needs privacy, The Ivy staff ensures that privacy is what you get. There really is nothing negative I can say about this restaurant. It is worth the price, the drive or walk and is a refreshing break from the hectic city.
Cute restaurant, good food but it’s very busy and the service is rude and horrible. They know you come here because it’s famous so they don’t care how they treat you, which is a reason for me not to go back anymore. We had a reservation at 1:30 and got our table around 2:10. I had to wait in a tight room with serves who pushed me from right to left because there was no space. What’s the point of getting a reservation? After that we got a tiny table in the back, the servers didn’t even see us and ignored us. We asked for another table because I got anxious there and they ignored us again!!!!!! Every time I asked for something they ignored us. Servers there are so miserable, rude and bored. Not pleased. I understand it’s busy- just stick to your reservation instead of giving 10 other guests a reservation for 1:30.
We went for my mother's birthday lunch. From the moment we began ordering, we were informed there was a minimum per person which was very insulting. In my mother's dish, she found a hair embedded in the fish and as we pointed it out, the waiter looked at us speculatively. He never apologized but took the dish back without a replacement. When I got the bill, they left the entrée on and when we asked why, they brought over the host who told us it couldn't have been from the kitchen and basically called us liars. It was the most insulting, disgraceful experience I've had. And when I pointed that out, they took the bill back and only took off $20 for a $35 dish. It's the principal of it all and when someone is paying over $300 for a meal and tip of 18% is included, that is beyond ridiculous to be treated that way. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. WORST experience ever!
We’ve been going to the Ivy for decades. It’s a one-of-a-kind gem... no other restaurant in L.A. comes close to the atmosphere, outside patio, gorgeous bouquets of roses, champagne greeting, cookies to take home, and the food is always delicious! Everything on the menu is something you want to eat. I love, love, love the Ivy! And since I know longer live in West Hollywood, still drive into L.A. from Palm Springs just to to have lunch and then drive back to the desert. It’s that good!
I enjoyed my lunch and the dining experience however I did get sick immediately after I left the restaurant. I believe that it may have been the over priced sangria that I had ordered. I only drank a little bit and regrettably should have asked for a refund. Otherwise the food was outstanding as well as the ambience. I will return but will not order the Sangria
Every time we come to LA, we come to the Ivy, and always have a fantastic time!! The gorgeous rose bouquets at every turn and the excellent and vibrant service made our last visit so wonderful! Our server Daniel was gracious and fun, and our meal was delicious. We loved how the food was fresh and not over-salted. The glasses of champagne and rose we had were delicious and my husband's cucumber margarita made him an extra happy camper!! We will be back, thanks for a great lunch date!
This was our first meal at the Ivy and they certainly didn’t disappoint. From the welcome glass of champagne to the goodbye cookies, they took acceptional care of us. Our server Chris was extremely engaging and entertaining, which must have been tough after a long day working on a holiday. Everything we had was tasty and the patio was just perfect on such a warm evening. All in all a great experience and worth trying!
The ambiance was wonderful and the wait staff was lovely and attentive- But for a high supposedly establishment and majorly over priced menu the food was not up to standard . I have traveled far and wide and have eaten at many many restaurants around the world and was shocked at the bill. I have never actually been so shocked at a bill for substandard food in my life.
They table next to us was having a huge fight with their waiter for the same reasons I imagine.
I'm not sure why this is a hot spot except for the beautiful decor and great staff. The food was just not good at all. I was really sad about it, I was excited to have a nice dinner with my 2 kids and didn't think it would cost me nearly $500.00 for 1 adult and 2 little kids.
Had Thanksgiving dinner with my mother. Was not expecting it to be $125.00 price fix per person. The Turkey was good my partner had a steak. The steak was tough and dry, my partner did not want to send it back and have to wait for something else to be cooked.
First time their for my mother and my partner. I ahd been there about 30 years ago for business.
The service was good. They gave a taste of some of their dessert 4 different ones. Out of this world!
That being said I think the Palm now in Beverly Hills is a better deal and more consitant in thier quality. I have never had bad service or a meal I did not like.
I have always enjoyed the Ivy, but this was our first time having the Thanksgiving menu.
The food wasn't great (especially the turkey option), and the set menu was a disappointment. The tiny samplers of sides and desserts didn't meet usual Ivy standards. I would recommend having a traditional Thanksgiving meal option, but also offering the regular menu.
I must say I felt a little insulted when I was placed behind a door when I requested to be away from loud parties in my request on OpenTable. I requested to sit towards the back and there were three available tables that were not occupied and I was told that they were going to be occupied and within a one and a half hour time frame of sitting in my seat I was ignored food was thrown on the table versus represented I requested a cup of hot water with slices of lemon and a bill came with a $7 charge. It's just constant. not too happy with my experience here too crowded/ pretentious. There was food still on our plate we were still eating and the servers kept trying to take our food away from us just rude I'm not accustomed to this.
