The Ivy St John's Wood
We always keep a number of tables unreserved throughout the day, allowing you to sample our range of café-style menus at your leisure from breakfast until late, or you can simply pop in for a drink and some nibbles – zucchini fritti and truffle arancini are amongst our favourites.
Open seven days a week, The Ivy St John’s Wood includes outdoor Parisian style street seating, and brings some of the familiarity and charm of The Ivy brand to the already fashionable St John’s Wood.
There were 4 of us: the two men had the lamb rump and the ladies the blackened cod. Service was good, but the lamb was tough. My friend pointed this out to the waiter and he appeared to take note. When the bill came, an allowance of £8.50 had been made just for ONE of the lamb dishes - even though the dishes were identical. Because I was parking the car I was the last arrive, and found my friends had already been seated at a small, rather cramped round table right by the door (next to the curtain). Behind us there was a larger vacant table for 4 against the wall: this table remained empty for over an hour! Why we were not offered this table is a mystery - especially as I had booked the day before. We would have enjoyed the occasion more if a little extra care had been taken.
Wonderful evening meal celebrating my wife’s birthday , excellent food and service and even when a slight mix up with the mains (wrong sauce on wrong steak) , it was immediately corrected and bill adjusted to compensate without us even asking . Will definitely be heading back there soon , as now our favourite local restaurant.
Excellent food excellent service - will definitively go again
Good food :)
Just had to remove book in advance as they all always fully booked :)
Very enjoyable meal. Excellent steak and side dishes
Good food and service in a lovely relaxed environment
Great Art Deco decor and good buzzy atmosphere. The food as per usual was tasty and beautifully presented. Pumpkin soup especially was delicious. Only criticism was on lots of occasions the waiter kept reaching across my guest to pour wine for others at the table. This was really annoying as there was plenty of room between tables to just pour from the other side. Same thing happened when waitress gave us cutlery. More training perhaps but still a good evening.
We had a great member looking after our table and the constant attention of the manager . will definitely visit again !
Only complaint was the tough minute steak. Great zucchini. Lovely birthday dessert for our friend
Very good menu and excellent service!
Fantastic place, giod quality food, kind service and amazing ambience.
My husband didn’t like his dish and so it was untouched and I would have eaten it the next day but I was shocked as they wouldn’t pack it for me as they said they don’t have any plastic containers. I’ve never come across that. I’m appalled that I had to waste the food. Even the savoy has packaged iOS for me!!
Lovely brunch. The service and the atmosphere were both great. The food quality was really good too. Would defo recommend it.
Consistent, and better than other restaurants in the area.
Generally we like The Ivy - e.g. the one in Blackheath - for the food, ambience and service, and were expecting a similar experience. We had booked a table for lunch last Saturday at the St John's Wood branch. Couple of disappointing things - my daughters burger arrived, and the waitress asked if she wanted sauces. Yes, ketchup please. The waitress never came back (I mean literally never) and the burger got cold ... after 10 minutes I asked another waiter to please bring some ketchup and told him we had asked 10 minutes ago - oh he says, ok. He brings the ketchup, but not a word of apology. I then see the original waitress, call her over and ask what happened to the ketchup - she goes to fetch some, complete memory absence that she had not fulfilled the original request. We were in rush and so could not wait, but it is unacceptable for the child to have to eat a cool burger because a simple thing like ketchup is apparently too complex. Second issue, but not the wait staff's fault - the shepard's pie is tiny! It is sold as a main, but looks like a starter. £51.58 the meal cost us, and neither of us enjoyed it for the reasons given above. Sad really.
We took our daughter from Los Angeles here for a celebratory dinner and it was marvellous! From the cocktails, to the starters, to the mains, and the lovely wine it was fabulous. A special thank you to Lanka who gave us wonderful service with patience, a sense of humour, and gracious charm. A true neighbourhood gem in St. John’s Wood!
Main courses went back as not hot. When returned still not hot but decided to eat it. Had to keep asking for the coffee order which was not as ordered.
We have lunch or breakfast at the Ivy St John's Wood around once a month and have never been disappointed. The food is always well cooked and the service is very good. We think considering the location of this restaurant and the quality of the food, the prices offer good value. We will be visiting again this week.
We went to the Ivy st Johns wood on NYE
A new waitress did the most amazing job
Great atmosphere however it could’ve been any day and the food was up to it’s usual high standard
Took almost 1.5 hours for main dishes.
However, personnel was very kind and offered us free desserts.
Service was appalling- we requested coffee after food, it arrived before. We ordered an English breakfast- the toast arrived 10 minutes after the eggs. A second drink took another 15 minutes - and the restaurant was not so busy! Please shake off the attitude!
I had fish and chips which was ok. My partner had minute steak which was tasteless other than the peppercorn sauce that it was smothered in. Apple tart was cold and should’ve been hot. The don’t do draught beer unfortunately so only lager in bottles which are small & expensive and served in such thick ice cold glasses that are horrible.
Nice. Only issue is that Ivy was told it was a special occasion, however no attempt to even mention it was raised by the restaurant .
I really enjoy breakfast at this restaurant as I like the choice of food and the service is usually good. The decor and overall ambiance adds to the pleasant experience
Good food and a nice atmostphere. Friendly and helpful staff. Great experiance overall.
Lovely overall experience. Venue buzzy and light. Service excellent. We shall return.
Really lovely food and great prices. Would be great if they were more equipped to cater to (and friendlier to) diners that wish to take away food they can’t finish
Really poor experience where the steak was not cooked properly thrice. On the third time, the steak became a sirloin even though I ordered a fillet. The steak was taken off our bill but does not compensate for a ruined Christmas Eve
Mum and I had a stunning lunch on Christmas Eve. The service was impeccable and the food was excellent even for a tricky Vegan. The Jackfruit starter was the best.
Very disappointed with our meal on Saturday evening. Our friend ordered a starter of duck salad which she found far too spicy - overload of chillies- and in fact was able to order an alternative. However our server informed us that our main courses were already cooked which seemed a bit quick! Three of us ordered chicken milanaise served with a fried egg on top. We also ordered a side of green beans with almonds. Two of the chicken dishes had to be sent back as they were dry and the fried eggs were like rubber. The green beans arrived without the almonds so they were sent back as well. The manager was very helpful and eventually we were served edible meals but really this was a disappointing experience. We’ve been to this restaurant several times and have always been satisfied and we rarely if ever send food back in any restaurant. We won’t be going back there on a Saturday any time soon!
Always good. Nice food, ok service and nice crowd. Always a good family meal evening.
Superb food great service lovely surroundings. Well worth a visit
Food was great service great and we had a lovely time.
I have been a regular patron of The Ivy Cafe St John's Wood and have enjoyed my brunches there but this time it was something else. We ordered various dishes and the worst one was the pancakes. Generally hard and totally inedible at the edges. Disappointing.
I’m a returning customer . The food, service and ambience as absolutely exceptional. No complaints!
Lovely food and lovely people
Nice place, friendly staff. But very average and over-priced food. Nine quid for a glass of flat, warm champagne. When I politely pointed this out, the sommelier removed it without comment and replaced it with a slightly fizzier but still warm one.
Shame, really. Chips were barely warm. You get better food at Café Rouge.
Great venue and service. Food good some dishes excellent
I would not recommend this branch to anyone, some of the staff never smiled and found it some how on the rude side
Once again, a delightful evening at my local restaurant!
Everything superb !
