We visit often and last night wasn’t the usual great service. The waitress was obviously new. While I was reading the dish I wanted out she interrupted half way through (although I was also pointing to the dish) and repeated the dish name, so I believed she had gotten my order. The food came out and the vegetarian curry I ordered seemed to have meat in it. I looked on the menu and realised there is the same dish, a veggie version and a duck version. I clearly pointed to the veggie dish and did attempt to read it out, but like I said was interrupted. I sent the dish back and they were very apologetic. The correct dish was served promptly, however I could definitely tell it was rushed as it didn’t have the usual great flavour, and my partners meal had been sat getting cold while we waited. Due to this I would expect some sort of compensation, some restaurants would take the dish off the bill, some would offer an on the house dessert, however the restaurant didn’t even take as little as a drink off of our bill- which for an incorrect rushed dish and an in turn cold dish, isn’t very good customer service at all. The waitress continued to crack poor, sarcastic jokes about the wrong dish throughout the meal, insinuating I was at fault. Just more training needed here, the staff are usually faultless so it was a quite surprising evening all in all.

We thought the Afternoon Tea was really good, lots of variety, good quantity and quality. All delicious. I personally would have preferred an extra savoury item instead of one of the sweet elements but that is being picky. Would recommend.

We came for a special occasion. We were very disappointed. I asked for the nibbles to come before the main course and the food came out before them! I sent it back and the nibbles came. When the main course came they only brought out 2 items and 2 of the party were left waiting for a considerable time. Waiter service was very poor and not what you’d expect for the price.

We were located in a very busy area close to the door and the area where the staff went back and forth. It was so noisy, I couldn’t hear what my fellow guests were saying. Looking around at the beautiful surroundings, we all thought that we seemed to have been placed poorly. The food was nice to be fair but whilst being served one of the waitresses managed hit the back of my head with the serving tray. Overall, a very disappointing experience.

We had come down to Oxford from Warwickshire to celebrate my Wife's Birthday and chose The Ivy for our evening meal. Everything about it exceeding our own quite high expectations from the time we were greeted at reception to the time we left. The ambiance, food , drinks and service were all excellent. However one thing stood out above everything else and that was down to the young man who looked after us throughout the whole evening, Janssen Santo. An extremely pleasant, intelligent and attentive person, knowledgeable and proficient at making our experience of The Ivy a night to remember. Not really for us to say but he is a true asset who deserves to attain higher things Max & Maxine Jones

Requested for something special to make the table look beautiful for a special (big) birthday, this was totally ignored. Upon arrival, took 3 people to find our reservation, was left waiting in the hallway for quite some time. Staff work off of their memory for taking orders, quite embarrassing when they need to keep coming back to 'double check' what was ordered as they were forgetting. Drinks, although tasty - none seemed to actually fill a glass, lucky to get half the glass filled with the drink of your choosing. The food was nice, but nothing better than a Beefeater, Harvester etc. Overpriced for what you actually get and nothing particularly stood out for us. Friends have asked if we would go back, in simple; No. Prices were high for just about average food and a service. Toilers were similar to a Wetherspoons... up the stairs and out the back of beyond. Table of 6, no space around the table for all 6 to have 1 dinner plate each to try and enjoy their mains? The waitress commented how small the table was and a significant lack of space for all. No where to put jackets/coats, so when sitting in a booth, there wasnt room for jackets/bags and people, very cramped.

We had a lovely time for dinner for our anniversary! The food was lovely, tasted good and the portion sizes were good but not wasteful. Our waitress Lucy was lovely, very attentive and helpful. The only reason we have rated 4/5 for ambience is we were sat next to an AC vent at the side of the room which was absolutely freezing! Luckily it wasn't running the whole time just intermittently. We look forward to eating here again.

Our table for two was wedged between tables both sides so that there was no room for the ice bucket at our table. Table close enough for me to be able to shake hands with them without stretching should I have wished to. Not good.

A very good choice of dishes with some classics and some imaginative alternatives to pick from. Excellent service and not over done. Slight problem in getting the bill and then had to approach staff to pay the bill.

Had breakfast menu for the first time, and wasn’t disappointed. It was a treat for my big sisters birthday, we were treated exceptionally well. And after breakfast we were treated, to a very large profiterole with a candle in . Which we shared . I have been many times before but never breakfast , I was so happy when my sister said that she had enjoyed. As she has never been before so it was a nice treat for us both . And I kept it a surprise until I met up with her. So thanks to all staff once again for the IVY breakfast experience.

Fantastic team. It was my mother in law’s 80th and it was brilliant. Super service, food top notch, staff wonderful and although busy, we were still able to chat and hear each other. The Italian lady was particularly brilliant. Very very impressed. Thank you Team Oxford

The food was mostly very good, although the starter and puddings were much better than the mains. Service was good, if slightly overattentive, but the wait for food is still too long. We had a twenty minute wait between the starter being taken away and the mains arriving, even though we'd ordered them at the same time. The ambience is lovely though, and I can't think of a nicer place to sip wine and chat while waiting for your food.

I really enjoy going to The Ivy Brasserie in Oxford to meet up with old friends and family. Unfortunately, for some reason it was very, very busy at 1 pm on Tuesday, so we had to wait for at least 45 minutes for our meal, which was frustrating. The Manageress was very apologetic and they deducted some money from the bill. It has not put me off as I still have another 3 lunches there in the near future.

We had a great server, she was super helpful. We ordered our food quickly and the starter (bar snacks) turned up quickly. Unfortunately our mains did not turn up, after an hour and 15min we decided to leave. Manager was very apologetic, but is was a shame.

The lady who took us to our table looked me up and down and gave me a filthy look because she’d noticed I was wearing Converse, my partner and I both noted it. We’d been out walking and sightseeing all day. My main meal, sweet potatoe curry, was at best luke warm and cold in parts. Having waited 40 mins since finishing our starter we didn’t want to send it back, and we wanted to eat together. The waiter asked us if it was a special occasion. We said it was my birthday but he didn’t respond or acknowledge it. Why did he ask? Apart from that the waiter was pleasant and approachable. The outing was a really special birthday treat but overall we were disappointed and under whelmed. We wouldn’t choose the Ivy Oxford again.
