It was a fabulous evening . Food was excellent, service was excellent. We sat upstairs. The music was a bit loud and asked to turn it down slightly it made such a difference. I would definitely go back to Ivy on the Square. Great restaurant. Jackie

Had a lovely breakfast with colleagues. Very well looked after by Dimitris. Few other diners but it was an early midweek morning. Have been in when much busier. Staff learned we were celebrating a milestone for one of my coworkers and brought out a complimentary special dessert - we were surprised and delighted!

Fantastic food and drink with excellent service although, unusually, was a bit disappointed with my main course on this visit. Had the smoked haddock and salmon fishcake. To be honest, it could be half the size. Was too big and I found the texture a bit claggy/dry. The flavour was lovely but not a winner, sadly.

Beautiful meal - Tempura prawns cooked to perfection as the truffle mushrooms. Mains the cod was lovely and meaty fillet very tasty and flavoursome. The ambience was good the service and attention from Brodie was excellent! Oh and the toilets smelt fabulous!!

Really enjoyed the food We’ve been a few times This time was great - the Aussie waiter Tom was great craic with my mum It was her birthday and she was in a mischievous mood and he was fun with her haha Really enjoyed the meal One thing that’s annoying is having to use QR code to get allergen menus but still a great experience

Booked a champagne afternoon cream tea. Of these four words, the champagne was good. It was the afternoon. The tea was very nice and served in wonderful tea pots. The cream was the let down. The highlight of any CREAM tea is the clotted cream, jam and scones. It forms the backbone of the experience. Sadly, the cream offered here was not clotted cream. After some time we were offered whipped cream or butter. I appreciate that this is not the end of the world, but it would have been nice if we had been told at the beginning that they have run out of clotted cream. Service as usual is impeccable, with Andrea a constant highlight of our visits to the Ivy. Just a shame that this time the cream issue ruined the whole experience.

Good food but small portions. Reduced in size since we were last there so a bit disappointing. The vegetarian Asian salad, which is very tasty, was just not big enough to justify being called a main, more like a big starter.

The service was rude, and terrible. I’m a regular at the Ivy Marylebone and Edinburgh, and have always loved it-this time it was AWFUL in Edinburgh. The children’s food arrived before our starter snack of courgette fritti. When the fritti DID arrive at the end of the meal (along with my dish), it was burnt. My Ivy hamburger (always a fav) was served with onion peel still on the onion and also burnt. The head of house lady was incredibly surly, and the waitress was Rude to my daughter. At the end my £20 open table voucher wasn’t accepted, and I paid £67 for a positively awful experience. Dare say, it’s the last time I visit the Ivy on the Square. Really letting the brand down.

Too much cutlery on the table - would prefer each set of cutlery to be brought with each dish. Table could have been bigger. Asked too many times if everything was Okay. Food could have been hotter. I would recommend once these considerations have been met.

It was a great place to have dinner, but due to new year’s eve there were a lot of tables booked and we did not expect to be « asked » to leave our table and pay so soon. Next time we will book a table later so that we will be celebrating midnight in the restaurant :) But the place is stunning and food was great!

We had a bit of a shaky start when we arrived about 15 minutes early and were asked to leave by the hostesses and come back, we appreciate that it’s a busy place but think they could have been more accommodating and given us a place to wait by the bar (where there was plenty space) before our table was ready, particularly as it was very cold outside and we had a child with us. I could understand if we were ridiculously early but by a few minutes (we left the house early given the many Hogmanay road closures and bus diversions) think they could have handled it better. Better than being 15 minutes late surely? Once inside the waiting staff were fantastic and the food sublime. One waiter told us they had 300 covers which explained how busy they were and we appreciate that the hostesses were under a lot of pressure juggling bookings, arrivals departures etc. So maybe as a company they need to manage it a bit better and not overbook so much, but in any event the hostesses could still have been a bit more welcoming and they were a bit sullen/non engaging when we left

Great menu choice, for both of us. I don’t eat meat. Drinks menu was good. The Ivy really does have something for everyone, all ages and dietary requirements.

We love the Ivy group and try to visit one wherever we are. I didn’t feel this was the best. The staff were very polite but service was slow. The restaurant felt a bit crammed and not as luxurious as others we had visited. The music was also so loud I could barely hear my partner speak. It truly felt like a chain restaurant and it lacked something The cocktails didn’t leave me wanting more. I’ve had the French Garden in Leeds, Marlow and Tunbridge Wells and couldn’t get enough. At this Ivy I felt it was too ‘limey’ and struggled to get through it. We booked this for our last night in Edinburgh and I think there are better places to eat.

Was there for afternoon tea which had already been paid for, it was a present. Although we enjoyed it overall, I object to the fact that the service charge was high. I don't mind payment a service charge but we were charged on the full bill, half of which was already paid for upfront, and therefore the service charge was the same for 2 people, whilst the table next to us had 4 people and paid less!
