We queued to get in and then were made to sit on a bench by the door while we waited for a table to come free. We encountered a very rude and pretentious girl with brown hair when we asked if we were waiting in the right place. The service was slick but impersonal and the food was all good but in no way exceptional. Overall we were a little disappointed, especially since we had such a wonderful time at The Ivy in London.
Had a lovely evening, music was brilliant, food and staff lovely.
Absolutely perfect. Excellent service, from start to finish. Delicious food, hot and tasty. Music was good and not too loud that you couldn’t talk.
Would definitely visit again when back in Brighton, and will recommend to friends. : )
Nice surroundings, nice food, a classy establishment, however totally ruined by the excessively loud monotonous heavy base music, totally inappropriate for the clientele it is aimed at making it impossible to have a conversation with friends over dinner.
If I wanted disco music I would be going to a club not the ivy
Great atmosphere, staff - lovely and friendly. Fabulous venue
Food - disappointing. Squid starter, like pub food. Scallops on runny mash.
Salad, it’s nothing I couldn’t make at home and fish cake tasted like something pre-packed in a supermarket.
It’s such a shame as the everything else was brilliant, but I won’t go back because of the food
Excellent service, atmosphere, food and drinks!
Food not the best, felt like we were forgotten by the waitress on a couple of occasions. Poor menu for vegetarians
Good music, just not for fit dinner. Just too loud for dinner conversations. Not a nice greeting as was asked to wait in line, with queue spilling into the street. Restaurant is too commercialised and does not warrant prices as service has no attention to detail. Steaks price is standard but quality of meat, poor. Not a great experience at all. Will not be returning.
We were sat outside which ruined the experience. the heaters were not on until requested after being told they didn’t work, we were on a curb and approached by a homeless gentleman begging for money and the staff did not try to move him on, a lot of drunken footfall. We waited about an hour between starter and main leaving us mo time for pudding which we wanted.
Excellent evening, great music and really good atmosphere would highly recommend
Great atmosphere for husbands 50th birthday. DJ was playing some great tunes. Lovely food and drink. Brilliant service by Jessica.
The staff as you enter were very professional, nice decor but loud like a school canteen. Starters were lovely, duck salad and cheese souffle.
My main was nice I opted for the burger.
My partner ordered a minute steak which they didn't have so had sirloin ordered medium, was undercooked and only came with a small portion of chips and bit of watercress.
Expensive for very little.
Cocktails looked good but had very little flavour and small glasses.
Waiter attentive, but we had an issue when we paid that I am going to be taking further when I can establish how to complain, overall was okay but we were not wowed on the food front for the money.
Great service, great food and great atmosphere. A very enjoyable dining experience.
Food was average and service was slow, wouldn’t go again
Wouldn’t recommend the afternoon tea, was very expensive for what you got. The service was not worth the 12% service charge which was a real shame because I’ve never had a bad experience in the ivy before.
We had afternoon tea wasn’t as good as the first 2 times I went due to the sweet menu change! I will visit again for either lunch or Dinner as the menu looks good.
We were seated outside on a lovely sunny afternoon which helped enormously. The staff were excellent, especially Carlo. A good time had by all
Visited many times before and been excellent in terms of food , service and ambience. Food was great this time , however service slightly off as waiter seemed distracted and had we had to follow up on a few things. DJ music was a bit loud , with a table larger than 4 it might have been hard to hear everyone. Maybe the music was the reason for less than fully attentive service this time.
We came for a birthday lunch, the table wasn’t ready when we arrived but two of our party were delayed so this wasn’t a problem; the place was busy and extremely noisy with a DJ in the restaurant which made it difficult to speak to one another - two of us had burgers which were very dry, the chips were the same, The cod was delicious. We felt the price of the steak which excluded any vegetables was very expensive! The meal was not what we expected but we had a lovely really helpful waitress who could not have been more helpful.
We were advised we didn’t have time for desserts as the table was needed and we didn’t want to eat at the tables outside.
A little disappointing and we won’t be in a rush to return.
Had a really lovely time at The Ivy in Brighton. We enjoyed our lunch and will definitely return :)
1. The staff were very professional, friendly and attentive.
2. We were seated at a table for 2 in the corner, which was perfect :)
3. The interior decor and ambiance of the restaurant is extremely nice.
4. The food was a very high standard and good value for money.
5. The only improvement would be to reduce the volume of the music. The resident DJ was playing dance music and at times it felt a bit too much like a nightclub for my liking, and made it a little difficult to talk over the volume. The music was fine, but just needed the volume turned down a notch.
We had a lovely time but the music was just too loud ,felt stressful and couldn't hear each other talk ,didnt feel relaxed. The music in the bathroom felt more suited, chilled ambience
A lovely brunch. Grest atmosphere, positive energy without being loud. Amazing restrooms!
Wonderful place to eat. The interior is unlike a usual restaurant but incredibly beautiful. Great service food - lovely for a birthday.
Absolutely love The Ivy. The food, drinks and service were as always fabulous. There was a DJ playing last night and the noise level was louder than previous visits not a detraction just a personal assessment.
The only issue we had was the temperature it was so warm in there that we ended up leaving early. It was very uncomfortable. We were not the only ones fanning ourselves. Hopefully this was just an air con issue.
Excellent food and service , restaurant temperature slightly too warm and felt slightly rushed towards the end of our meal for next sitting
Amazing meal! Great food. Fabulous service. Thank you.
Lovely woodland themed afternoon tea, the vegetarian option was delicious.
We arranged for afternoon tea as a birthday treat and we were not disappointed, the variety of food provided were fresh and tasty - the Elderflower G I would recommend The Ivy to family and friends.
Eating of background music (bass dance music) distracting
Very good lunch. Nice atmosphere, always buzzing!!
Food excellent and lively atmosphere. Would definitely recommend for an overall dining experience.
Beautiful setting. Superb food. Gorgeous cocktails
From beginning to end the service was A1
Brilliant night staff very welcoming service good decor great.
Great venus. Fabulous bar, good food, lovely venue
Lovely meal, quick service and the servers were amazing!
A perfect evening.
The afternoon tea was disappointing. Uninspired sandwich fillings. Soggy white bread with no taste and soggy brioche rolls. Scones delicious cake selection ok not keen in the drink served. Staff as usual were amazing. But not the special birthday treat I was expecting from The Ivy
Wonderful food drink and atmosphere really lovey experience
My husband and I had a wonderful lunch at The Ivy. The food is very reasonably priced, and tastes amazing. I’m a vegetarian and there was lots to choose from. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Would most definitely go again.
We had a lovely time. Fantastic meal and the attention to detail was amazing. The prices were great and it felt really special for my big birthday celebration. The ladies bathrooms were astonishing and watching the mixologists was great. The food was hot and appetising. Would definitely love to come again. Thank you for the gorgeous profiterole with the birthday candle. Lovely touch
