The Ivy Harrogate
The Ivy Harrogate is the perfect spot to meet up with friends and family, entertain clients or just simply relax.
Preference given to drunken drinkers at the bar instead of to diners. Forced to wait outside because bar was full. Pressurised to order food quickly. Bottle of wine forgotten and only delivered after meal arrived. Wrong vegetables delivered. Lack of effective management and supervision. We were there for a special occasion but in reality we felt anything but special. Overall, the experience was awful and we will not go again.
Lovely, as always.
The food was average for what I would expect for the price of the meal. It was so loud I could not have a conversation! The table we were sat at felt like it was in a corridor with waiting staff standing behind us discussing other guests needs. We did not stay long, just long enough to eat. Not exactly the relaxing, treat meal we had in mind. Although I do accept it was a busy Saturday night service. Maybe just not for us!
Great night for our Gold Wedding. Everything was top rate! Thank you to all the staff.

The food was good but nothing exceptional about it at all. We paid Ivy prices expecting something special We've had better and paid less!
Very poor service, had to wait a very long time to order (20+ minutes between mains being cleared and ordering dessert), waiting staff were not attentive whatsoever. Several errors with our food order and tried to charge us for an alcoholic beverage when we’d order the alcohol free version. Food was nice but the service and errors ruined the meal.
Service was absolutely amazing!
Lovely food served impeccably. The staff were all wonderfully friendly and authentic. We were seated in the courtyard at the rear which was perfect for a late summer’s eve. Can’t wait to visit again soon.
Nice happy atmosphere. Great staff. Beautiful decor and very comfortable.
Not the best place we’ve been to! Nice, but over priced!
Champagne Afternoon Tea: The restaurant was very busy - with a chatty vibe which we like. The decor was colourful, staff looked smart and the tables were dressed nicely, hand sanitizer on tables too (nice touch). The tea and coffee served was very nice in lovely heavy pots.
The majority of the food was delicious. There was an unusual and a bit unpleasant green juice in a mini milk bottle (vitamin boost tonic - tasted like cucumber water) which we didn’t feel was a good fit for aft tea (sat amongst the cakes on the top tier). The champagne was very nice indeed - I’m not usually a big fan.
We felt another sandwich was needed but realise this is just personal taste.
We waited 35 minutes from ordering which we thought was a little surprising - we had prebooked - they knew we were having afternoon tea.
Although we don’t like too much attention, we were surprised that we weren’t offered top ups re the hot drinks. We’ve also been offered top ups of sandwiches in other venues - but we never expect that.
It’s a nice place and the food was tasty - but I’ve had equally as nice elsewhere for a far lesser price.
I don’t want this review to put people off - the place was incredibly busy so clearly very popular. It just felt a bit impersonal for us on this one visit.
The staff certainly seemed very busy.
Great place, with a good vibe for any occasion, staff are friendly and helpful!
Will definitely go back!
Always excellent service with attentive staff
We were shown to our table straight away but had to wait ages for a drink.
The waitress was very friendly apologised all the time and the drinks arrived eventually.
The food was excellent.
Cheeky to charge over £3 for still water when tap water would of been fine.
The Ivy deserves its reputation as the creme de la creme. We we went on Friday night in Harrogate and it was full to the rafters - so much so that our table appeared to be in the middle of the waiters' thoroughfare. But no matter the food was absolutely delicious if not a little pricey.
My wife and I really enjoyed our meal in The Ivy. Service was excellent as was the food. We would definitely eat there again.
Food good, table good, staff good, music not in keeping with clientele more suited to a night club. We just felt a little rushed and were asked if we could move to the bar to free up the table. We had only been at the table 3/4 of an hour.
Prefer York and London.
Excellent service and gorgeous food. Love it. The waitress was brill. 👍
Very good food, service - friendly helpful staff.
The starters we're nice, by no means outstanding. I had chicken milanese for main and was disappointed to receive a dry piece of tasteless chicken on a plate with a side of sauce. Presentation left a lot to be desired.
The staff however were lovely and attentive. The ambience was good.
I would not visit here again as I found the food to be extortionate for what we got. My fellow diners felt the same.
Good vibe, busy with great mixture of formality (good table linen etc) with relaxed and informal ambience.
Overall a great experience. Something a bit different and quite special. The waitress was lovely, very attentive. The food was very good and reasonably priced. Great atmosphere and very busy when we were leaving. The terrace area looked lovely from the window but didn't go outside for a proper look
Negatives - It was very rushed. Going to The Ivy in Harrogate was a special experience for us but felt as if, for them, it was how many people they could get on that table in an evening. There was literally no break between the starter plates being taken away and the main course arriving. We ordered a bottle of wine but the food was well and truly over before we had had drank half the bottle. We were in and out of the restaurant in about an hour. Very disappointing the staff were rushing us and not really letting us enjoy or embrace the experience.
I have dined at the Birmingham restaurant and never had this experience or feeling
Would I recommend to a friend? Yes for the experience but no if you want a relaxing, leisurely meal where you can embrace the experience
went to the Ivy in harrogate for lunch to celebrate our wedding anniversary, it was very enjoyable with good food as usual.
Fabulous food and service and lovely atmosphere always
The Ivy at Harrogate was recommended to us by my son's partner to celebrate our 43rd Wedding Anniversary and it turned out to be a real treat. The Restaurant is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We opted for the Lunchtime Menu which had plenty of nice dishes to choose from and we really enjoyed our selections. The service was excellent and the complementary chocolate profiteroles in celebration of the occasion was a lovely touch and delicious!
Nice garden dining area. Friendly and relaxed.
the ivy on previous visits has been excellent. on this occasion the white wine was not very cold and we waited over 40 minutes for our starter. the lady waitress was however excellent and pleasant.
Had the perfect evening at The Ivy celebrating our anniversary .. the staff were wonderful , very attentive , food delicious and the special celebration sweet treat was a lovely touch .. highly recommend .
Service was horrendous today for some reason which was a real shame
The food was very good there was no doubt
Also the ivy pack you in like sardines, a table for 2 is a table of 6 as you are so close the people next to you.
The waitress was lovely but we received our starters before our drinks so we refused them until we had had a drink. But all it meant was the main meal was put down as they were clearing the starters.
Real shame and disappointing
We made a reservation and the staff were so nice. So pleasant to chat to.
The service was, as always, exemplary. The ambiance was excellent. I was saddened that as it is now their Autumn menu they have removed all salads. Short sighted and poor market knowledge there I feel. That’s why I have docked one star.
Overall a lovely evening at the Ivy with very good food and friendly service. However, staff need to learn how to serve expensive wine. We ordered a second bottle of wine at £77. The waiter failed to bring fresh glasses and treated it like a bottle of plonk, topping up our original glasses which still contained wine with wine from the new bottle. Not impressed!
Love The Ivy Harrogate - best steak I've had in a very long time and the Steak Tartare is really exceptional! Faultless service and a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Thanks!
My wife and I were celebrating our silver wedding, we should have been in Mexico buy hey Ho. The food was lovely, reasonably priced and service was prompt. It was a little on the warm side in the restaurant but it was full.
Wonderful atmosphere for a Tuesday night. Food and service was great. Chips not quite warm enough but I like my food very hot! Will definitely go back time and time again.
Very nice restaurant, lovely staff, good food, great service
