Amazing food and cocktails! Perfect for birthdays!
Amazing service and food. Great atmosphere and decor!
Overall excellent music was far too load unable to talk across the table without shouting or having to repeat ourselves waitress also was struggling to take our order. lighting an issue as to dark unable to see menu properly other guests getting the touch out on the phones
Amazing food, great service and lovely setting.
Drinks overpriced but overall a brilliant experience and will visit again
Great service. Food was really good and it came quickly. Not a huge amount of choice on the menu but sufficient. Expensive, but worth it.
The service aZs just slow, with a capped time slot on the table it was a bit rushed due to it being so slow
16th Birthday meal. Thoroughly enjoyed and the occasion met with the birthday girl high expectations.
The service was outstanding, every member of staff we passed on our way to be seated welcomed us. Everything we ordered came out fast and fresh, the food was delicious!
Nice experience to visit.
Expensive due to paying for all sides individual.
Quality of main meal didn’t really reflect the price.
Even so we would visit again
Both the sirloin steak and minute steak ordered were stringy and tough. The sirloin was sent back twice and because of that I was too embarrassed to return the minute steak as friends were treating us. I would not go again and would not recommend the Cardiff Ivy.
Middle-of-the-road fare with service that assumes it’s a level above the reality of the restaurant.
Nothing to complain about food-wise, but no reason to write home about it either. A very rushed experience as they try and turn tables while giving you the most basic level of service.
Verdict? ‘It’s fine.’
I arrived, albeit a bit late , but friends were already at the table. Staff showed me inside the entrance and told me to wait for a while. Came back about 5 minutes later but then asked me to go outside again. Stated I would have to move my "partner" who was already sat at the table. I pointed out I was meeting 3 female friends, not a partner. There was an obvious problem in understanding their bookings but no-one was explaining anything, nor communicating, just simply telling me we'd "have to move." I explained that I had made the booking and received confirmation, and showed this. It seemed that none of the front of house staff knew what was going on. Nor did they seem to be making much effort to correct things. I said that no-one should be moved and I again asked to be shown to my table. Staff still declined to show me in. I messaged my friends to say I had arrived but wasn't being shown to the table - asking them where they were sitting. More than 5 minutes later I was taken to my friends at the table. After this we felt rushed to make outr menu choices. Totally disappointed at the welcome recieved.
It was also probably the busiest time I've been at the restaurant, very noisy. All sat downstairs - felt a bit cramped, noisy and manic. The food was lovely as always but staff and atmosphere were disappointing.
Our server was so helpful and lovely. Had an amzing experience and food was outstanding.
Beautiful place to eat really nice tasty food . Staff were all so friendly and polite . Highly recommended
Lunch with adult nieces.
Great service good food sadly Rum Baba still not back on menu. Cannot wait to go again.
Took a while to be taken to out seat. But food was outstanding!! Lovely bar, staff were great. Would definitely recommend
Fantastic first time eating here. Staff were very attentive, food was delicious, although I had a small bone in my duck curry. Beautiful decor and atmosphere, overall we had a fantastic first experience.
This is a lovely venue with great staff, however the food let's it down. The range of products is limited, lots of similar items. The use of granary bread instead of wholemeal results in hard to cut & chew meals when toasted.
Great food, great service. Will definitely be coming back.
Fab catch up with a colleague. Great food and great service. Didn’t get the waitress’s name (she had face piecing) but she was amazing 🥰
We were early and you accommodated us. The restaurant was very busy with a great atmosphere. Our server was under pressure with all the tables he had to cover at the same time but carried it off very well. Thank you. We will definitely return as we had a great time.
Not happy, Booked it for my boyfriends birthday for food. Was expecting to be at a table, and got sat by the bar.. really disappointing, we went without food then cause the rest of Cardiff was fully booked.
I have wanted to dine at the Ivy for a long time and managed to get a reservation on the 22/10/21 as we went in we were not disappointed the decor was amazing and the staff very attentive.. however I found the music very loud and not in keeping with the ambience of the restaurant and we struggled to talk within our group.. i appreciate it was a Friday Evening but I just found it a bit to much..
The food was lovely however my daughter did have to send her mains back as it didn’t look cooked thru.. the staff were very obliging and rectified it straight away… overall a pleasant evening.
Initially we were upstairs and asked to be moved to downstairs as the music was like a disco !
This was done with no trouble at all and we had a much nicer seat .
Food is lovely though really should come with sides , shouldn’t have to pay for extras such as veg or chips.
Quality of the food was incredible and our waitress was superb! Wine is overpriced but the cheapest bottle of £23 white was fine (we had two)
A wonderful restaurant with a lively atmosphere. Great service and excellent food. Will definitely be making a return visit.
I’ve been to the Ivy twice and being a vegetarian I feel there’s not much variety with the options. Butternut squash was the option on both occasions, butternut squash curry and butternut squash risotto. Both very tasty but samey.
Good place to go for a special occasion.. It was a very good experience
My friend and I had a boozey Friday lunch which was great! Lovely food, friendly and attentive service (we were late being seated for our table but didn’t mind as happy enjoying pre dinner drinks at the bar). Excellent atmosphere with DJ playing as the evening progressed which created a relaxed, fun vibe.
The staff at the Ivy made my friends 40th birthday celebration lunch so special. We all enjoyed beautiful meals all washed down with delicious cocktails and wine.
A beautiful place to eat, with fantastic food and first class service
Excellent as always! Superb food and service. Looking forward to visiting again soon. Thank you!
I met up with friends who had never been to the Ivy Cardiff, before and who were very impressed. I have been quite a few times and always found that whatever I chose from the menu I could rely on it being very tasty and enjoyable.
Perfectly cooked steak and great wine. A little on the pricy side but defo worth a treat now and again. Will defo return
More vegan options would be helpful as i struggled to find a decent meal, in the end I had to settle for a vegetarian dish instead.
Great service, great food really tasty, loved the decor
Service was mediocre given the fact that the initial server changed from one boy to another girl very quickly. This girl (dressed in all black) had a strong handle on our table and understood what we needed. She was very good (which we relayed to her at the end of our meal). But she was quickly moved and after that we had 4 other people serving us. I was asked 4 times during my
Meal if ‘everything was ok.’ I was asked 3 times if I wanted drinks and then asked 4 times if I wanted desert. Each of these times were by a different server. Then ‘Sam,’ came over to our table a further 3 times to ask the same questions. She loudly announced that it was reported my wife had an allergy and did we want any of the food taken off our ordered dishes. We couldn’t relax and felt we were being watched. I totally understand the need to check an allergy but the way Sam acted was quite overbearing and annoying. I’m sure she meant well, but it was such a shame that there was no order to the servers, everyone tried too hard and got it wrong. I hate to write negative feedback because we were given a voucher as a very special gift and the Ivy kindly extended it for us. (They didn’t have to and it was greatly appreciated.) it could’ve been so different.
Excellent food very well presented and tasted gorgeous. Our waiter, Owen, gave exceptional service.
Fantastic place, excellent service food very good but limited choice of vegetarian food on my ch menu
Excellent food . Staff were extremely helpful and an absolute delight.
Will definitely be back visiting sometime soon.
Absolutely outstanding really enjoyed my afternoon, highly recommended
