The Ivy Royal Tunbridge Wells
Located on the bustling High Street of Royal Tunbridge Wells, the restaurant makes for an ideal spot to enjoy an accessible all-encompassing menu, serving British classics from dawn until dusk, including breakfast, elevenses, weekend brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, light snacks, dinner and cocktails.
We chose the lunch menu of the day. The cauliflower soup was very nice, I unfortunately chose the roasted squash with cheese and grains. The squash showed no signs of being roasted, maybe steamed, but no nice roasted taste or marks. The whole thing was dry and crying out for some sort of sauce or some flavour. I did point out to the waiter that it wasn’t a great dish and left half of it. No attempt was made to take it off the bill or apologise even though the waiter agreed with me!
Atmosphere was nice and staff were good.
Lovely staff and food. My only negative comment t is that they were bringing on a trolley crates of drinks through the restaurant floor to stock up. It went on probably for 15-20 minutes and was a bit distracting. Would of been better to stock up when customers not there. But would not stop be visiting again. Super service
Oscar our waiter was very good nothing too much trouble and although very busy he helped us with the wine as well
The food was delicious and served well. I was very glad that we were seated in a small area to the left of the door as I think the main restaurant seemed a little noisy and a lot of people were walking through to get to the rest rooms at the end. It was a good place for a birthday lunch.
I would like to try an evening meal next time.
The most lovely breakfast with my family. We all throughly enjoyed it. The staff were amazing. It was my daughter in laws 50th birthday and the little cake you gave her topped the whole experience off. We loved it.
Not a great experience, as the overall feeling we had was to get you in, charge excessive prices for average food/drink, then get you out as quickly as possible so that the table can be made ready for the next booking. They also did not provide enough chairs for our party of six, so one person was stuck at the far end of the table on a bench seat rather than in the obvious spot (which was just left as an odd chair-less gap. It was also excessively noisy due to too many tables crammed in a fairly small space, which again adds to the feel that it is all about maximising profits rather than providing a pleasurable experience for the customers. Overall we will not be recommending it and will not be booking again unfortunately.
I visited twice this weekend. On Saturday our table for 8 was booked for 3.30pm. We arrived promptly at 3.30pm and one of our party made the staff aware we had arrived, to be advised our table was not ready. We waited outside for 10 minutes and then I went in and was advised that our table was still not ready. I asked if we could get a drink at the bar and I was advised the bar was too busy and we should wait outside!!!! Luckily some people left and we were able to wait at the bar. We were finally shown our table at 4.15pm... This was not good enough and very unwelcoming.
I visited again yesterday to celebrate our friends 50th Birthday. Again we arrived on time 1.30pm but were badgered 3 times for our food order (we had ordered pre lunch drinks and were waiting for these). We were advised that we needed to hurry as our table was required again at 3pm... We ended up leaving around 6.30pm as it appeared that it was recognised that we were ordering expensive wines and champagne and therefore not be rushed. Again, not good enough. This is the Ivy Brasserie, not a Michelin star restaurant. The food is good but nothing better than I could cook at home. Simple food, good cocktails, good wine list but no considerate customer service and a the restaurant considers itself to be at a higher level than it actually is.
There were a few small mishaps but they were soon put correct.
We could see the restaurant was completely full and the staff were pushed to their limits.
We were a table of 6 adults celebrating a 40th Birthday.
We could not fault the food and champagne! The afternoon tea was perfect - all savoury & sweet tastes were catered for & was produced with fine detail. For example the plant pots were actually chocolate moose!
Thank you to the chef & waitress for such quick service.
The bar staff were equally friendly & informative about their various cocktails.
The noise level was our only grumble, although I would look to reserve a quieter area when returning again.
The girl on reception had really bad body odour issues. we had to make the waiting staff aware of the problem. unfortunately no manager spoke to us about our complaint?
Our whole experience was tainted by this embarrassing issue and I am very surprised by lack of intervention by the management
Overall our experience was good. Waiter was very good .Only complaint was, it took a long time to get our drinks. Apart from that, we had a nice lunch
Fabulous food, ambience and service. Love eating here!
It was amazing! Lovely food, drinks and atmosphere. We can’t wait to return
Noisy and overpriced nice decor but wouldn’t return
Had a catch-up lunch with a dear friend on Friday at The Ivy (Tunbridge Wells). Decided on the Set Menu - fabulous value for money at only £21.00pp for three courses.
Lively atmosphere, very friendly staff and great food started off my weekend with bang!
Fantastic staff, food and service as always! Love the set menu; such great value. ❤️
Another great time had for my birthday breakfast, great service & nice treat at the end.
Yes I would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends and family.
Went to the Ivy for my partners birthday, I had asked them before hand if the could make her the biggest creme brûlée and put a candle on it for her sweet.
The food was very good and the ambience very pleasant. Whilst good, the service was not as attentive as I might have expected at times - we had to chase our initial drinks and it took a while to take our orders. Also, the placement of our table (next to the area where the serving staff managed their work) meant that it felt a little like being in a thoroughfare. That said, we did enjoy our visit and we would come again
consistent standard. Good food, polite service and attractive decor. Disappointed that my early email request to reserve our usual table was ignored.
Perfect in every way , delicious food, fantastic service, beautiful surroundings.
Will definitely be back soon.
Our first visit to the Ivy will visit again first class
The service was prompt, however, after chewing (and almost swallowing) a large piece of plastic which clearly looked like a corner cut from a bag it completely ruined the whole experience of the meal that I had planned for my fiancée I’s first date-night since our daughter was born 18 months ago. I immediately informed the waiter, he alerted the manager, yet we received non formal apology, nor any discretionary drink, dessert or discount for the potentially fatal incident and when the bill arrived the 12.5% service charge was still present which really shocked new! I insisted to see the manager and have the service charge removed, yet the waiter simply returned with an amended bill.
Very disappointing experience overall, for such a well established and expensive restaurant I expected far better service and courtesy from the management, especially due to the circumstances of finding a large piece of plastic from a translucent bag found in a dish!!
Smoked Salmon starter was perfect.
Main course Lemon Sole was drowning in an excessive amount of sauce that made the fish so wet, soggy, tasteless along random bones although filleted. It was extremely disappointing, I complained to the waiter who took this off of the main bill at the end. This is the first time I have had a disappointing meal here and I think the sauce would have been better served on the side.
For dessert I had the apple tart which was delicious.
We had a lovely time at The Ivy in Tunbridge Wells. The food and wine were excellent. Our waiter Alex was particularly good, friendly but professional and obviously well trained to a high standard.
Our only minor disappointment was the lack of a sommelier although the manager did his best in recommending a challenging ask.
Well done and hope to be back soon.
Brighton is so much nicer compared to tunbridge wells
Absolutely fabulous!!! Five star service, quality & flavours at incredibly reasonable rates. We were also given a birthday treat. My twin & I have decided to make The Ivy our birthday tradition- thank you!
Impeccable service and mouthwatering food.
A really good experience. Was very busy in both the bar and the restaurant but at the same time felt very relaxing. I loved it
Another wonderful evening
Always perfect, every time we visited
Great food & atmosphere - Pity no room at bar for pre meal cocktails
On arrival we were told we only had a 2 hr dining slot. We weren’t told this in advance
Lovely evening and service as is usual for the Ivy. The food wasn’t up to scratch this time, in particular the mains, although presented beautifully, were disappointingly lacking in flavour.
Tasty, precise, but not as good as it thinks it is.
I can’t think of a more perfect venue for my mum’s 70th birthday dinner; if you are considering visiting the Ivy in Tunbridge Wells then don’t hesitate. It’s just perfect - the service, the menu, the experience. Enjoy.
As you enter The Ivy the experience is special . Staff are excellent attentive and courteous service always!
Drinks ordered, we’re soon choosing our food as usual the is beautifully presented and cooked well we have dined here several times now and we always leave feeling great!!
Many thanks to the manager and staff.
I love eating at The Ivy though I do find the music choice odd, it jars with the elegant setting. The staff are well-trained, discreet, and friendly.
The food is thoughtfully prepared and presented.
Chicken disk over cooked to the point of being like straw on one side.
Staff responded well as not a return complaint so offered coffees on the house.
Great choice for a celebration treat. Friendly staff, nice surroundings and good food. Will be returning again soon.
The Ivy provides wonderful food & wine in a pleasant atmosphere
Service is excellent & the staff are friendly & attentive without being intrusive
You are paying for the name. Overpriced drinks. Noisy when the bass form the club below, kicks in at 10pm!!! Food resembles a fancy microwave meal!!!
