The Ivy Cafe Richmond
Beautifully located near the river Thames and a few moments from Richmond Park, the restaurant features a private dining room and a bar, offering relaxed yet sophisticated dining.
Great waiter, grey haired man who is always there - he always makes us feel so welcome, is so professional. We also had a great waitress. Beautiful corner table. Lovely food. Decor is the best in London. Luckily was not too crowded, sometimes this place gets so overcrowded it feels claustrophobic and very noisy, not this time.
This is the second time I have eaten with friends at the Ivy café in Richmond. We love the décor, the choices on the meu and the very good service.
Our waitress Karolina was superb in every respect - fabulous service.
Tuna special was poor - the salsa of mango and onion was stale and tasteless - frankly awful.
Ambience good as always - but prices remain at top end for the sometimes ordinary food served.
Excellent lunch with friends
Excellent pre theatre dinner venue which we would highly recommend.
The food is very well prepared, nicely seasoned, and the portions are generous without being too large. The selection is very good, both pre-theatre and a la carte. The room is very pleasant and the noise level is low. And all at a reasonable price. This is one of the best places in London for quality food at a reasonable price. We will certainly return.
For a special occasion, it was a lovely meal.
We had more or less 3 courses plus two gins - my girlfriend's birthday - stayed for about 2 hours and had a really pleasant stay. The host was great (guy in a suit) and made us feel really welcome.
Really glad I booked a table there, my girlfriend loved it. And the design and layout is lovely.
Beautiful place with excellent food for a special occasion!
Excellent breakfast in relaxing atmosphere. Four of us were able to stay and chat after we had finished eaten and we were even offered further tea and coffee on the house. Highly recommended.
The food was very tasty, we chose the prawn cocktail as a starter. Shepherds pie was also great. Their kids menu does not include any sides or drinks, not so different from adults menu.
When we asked a question about wine selection, the waitress was not extremely helpful and she did not smile at all during the time we were there. Apart from the welcoming and smiling service, all is perfect.
The atmosphere was lively, lovely ambiance and overall restaurant was bright but beautiful interior. Our waitress was a little surly looking when she approached our table. My son gave the order and then he repeated it (he has mental heath problems and always repeats the order). The waitress replied ‘I know you told me’. I feel a little bit of awareness may benefit the staff, especially this particular waitress. Otherwise a lovely meal.
We were celebrating my daughters birthday and we all had a great time .
Lovely atmosphere and interior, very good service. Most of the food was great, but some of it had a 'microwave meal' feel/taste to it. Bill seemed very expensive for what we had.
A special night to celebrate my son's 18th. Had read a few reviews before and had been concerned. However it couldn't have been better, lovely evening.
Excellent food and the service was outstanding I will definitely return. I thought the service charge was very steep given that we were only a table of 3, I would have preferred to tip our waitress in cash.
Great food and atmosphere however the entrance area whilst waiting to be seated/check in has the feel of a cattle market. The area as you walk in and have to wait is just too small resulting in being pushed around by other people coming in and others leaving. Fairly typical of the Richmond Ivy as have been a few times. Not expected from the Ivy brand, it doesn't start you off with the best experience but apart from that was nice.
Been here a few times as well as the Kings Road locations as well . Were kept waiting 20 minutes for a table that we had prebooked for 1300 . Explained that a large group of people had left and were rushing to get tables sorted . However we only popped in for a main course and glass of wine . Request for Veggie Shepherds Pie ( which I've had before and is good ) was met with it will take 20 to 30 minutes which meant didn't order as the 20 minute wait to even get a table had already extended the time we had expected to be in the Cafe .
First disappointing experience . Also found the menu lacking in good choices for some reason !
Overall good but our food came out a matter of minutes after we ordered; it was hot but makes you think cooked earlier and reheated which isn’t good. So I wouldn’t recommend, plenty of other places where food cooked fresh and you don’t have to wait an age. Also it’s nice having a bit of time after you’ve ordered to enjoy a drink, the speed made the whole experience feel rushed!
I always enjoy my meals at the Ivy cafe, don't change a thing!
The service, surrounding good.My main course was very under cooked even when replaced
Good food, lots of veggie options, service was a bit overzealous but fine. Only downside was that the bathroom facilities hadn’t been checked and cleaned.
I've eaten at the West End Ivy many times in the past. The Richmond room is very similar but the windows give it a more open feel, which I prefer. The service was excellent throughout. Like many fashionable restaurants the tables are just a little too close together for relaxation. I had the Crispy Duck Salad, which was short on duck and long on salad, followed by a medium rare sirloin steak that hadn't been rested long enough after cooking , so was on the tough side. My wife had the Miso glazed chicken, which was excessively salty. However, that said, I would still recommend it as long as you pick your way through the menu.
Always great here - though the waitress did throw the remains of my dessert over me. They handled it well, offered free Espresso Martinis to my other half and I (they obviously had some record of what we’d ordered a few weeks before - which was a nice touch). If I was heading off to a business meeting It would’ve been a different matter though. Would be interesting to understand how they would have managed that....
Excellent as always, just a genuine mistake with the order and a little heavy on the salt.
I regularly take my guests to the Ivy Cafe Richmond and am always impressed by consistency of good quality of service and food and friendly staff. Thank you for your hard work to maintain this high standard.
The welcome was lovely and the room is beautiful. Little details about the food were very disappointing: the tea (one teabag in the pot) was so weak that it was tasteless - nothing like the description on the menu. I asked for toast to accompany the kipper and was surprised that it was made from very ordinary sliced bread and it came without butter. Do you expect guests to ask for butter separately or do you expect them to eat dry toast?
Really attentive service and great food
I booked this for my mother and father in law as a birthday treat and they loved it. Only full of praise for the service, quality and value for money. They will certainly be back, Ivy - you didn’t disappoint!
Wonderful location, decor and atmosphere - inevitably a little noisy. Food very good - two of us had the set menu at lunchtime, one person chose a la carte, and was allowed to make two or three special requests regarding adjuncts to starter and main course. Each of us got very good value for the prices we paid. Impressive wine list. Staff extremely pleasant, helpful - and busy, you sometimes need to wave for attention. Not a problem. I forgot I was in England - this is a compliment. Will certainly return, as I live nearby.
Lunch on a Sunday at 1pm was like a gym creche with noisy children and indifferent parents letting them treat the restaurant like a climbing frame. Staff try their best to keep it civil but if you want a grown up lunch this is not the place.
Beautiful restaurant in Richmond, great place to have brunch.
Sisters 50th birthday
Family Birthday dinner, originally we booked for 4 persons but during the day a 5th person was able to join us, despite the restaurant being full they were able to accommodate us - which was great as it wouldn't have been good is the in-laws husband wasn't able to eat with us.
The restaurant was indeed full, both tables and the bar area, unfortunately this also means the noise levels were very high and at times it was difficult to hear ourselves talking, even with it only being across the table.
The food was good and plentiful, portion sizes were more than adequate, although the Duck curry was so good, that could have been bigger.
Leonardo was our waiter and was professional, attentive and pleasant.
The bill was reasonable for 5 persons with shared starters, mains plus sides, a few desserts, 2 bottles of wine, coffees and digestives.
Would come again and definitely recommend to friends and family.
Great food and service but quite busy and crowded at busy times
This was my first visit to an Ivy Cafe and I was very impressed as were my two friends, also first timers. We booked for 2pm for the brunch menu which offered a very good choice. My friend is vegetarian and was pleasantly surprised at the choice on her menu which included vegetarian versions of items from the main menu.
Wonderful girly lunch sat at a cosy corner table with views across the restaurant...
Fabulous understated service, delicious food, crisp dry fizz...we had a beautifully memorable afternoon at Ivy Richmond...can’t wait for our next visit !!!! 💕
Yes I loved it I’ve been twice now and will definitely be going back again.
Excellent service, lovely friendly & helpful staff. Delicious food in comfortable surroundings. We were offered a choice of table although the restaurant was very busy. Our starters & main, although a little pricey, were absolutely delicious. We would definitely return.
A fantastic evening service as consistent as always.
Absolutely amazing as always!
