We went to The Ivy for a birthday brunch.
Decor is quirky and fabulous.
Food was delicious.
All staff were polite, friendly and helpful.
If you’re looking for somewhere a bit different for a special occasion then try The Ivy.
Booking in advance is essential.
Service very slow, we had to wait a long time to catch attention to refill our glasses etc. Food was mediocre and took a very long time to arrive. Front of house rude and disorganized with large groups of people being moved around and nobody really knowing what was going on eg. People waiting to be seated, people waiting for coats, people trying to ask questions to front of house
Do not appreciate a service charge, hard to ask to take that off. Should be up to customer if they want to tip! Tables far to close together, I was closer to the two strangers next to me on my right and left than I was my dining companion.
Place looks great but tables were very cramped in the brazerrie probably to get more people in but just spoiled the whole effect
Food a little slow on main course but waiter came and explained there was a slight delay which wasn’t a problem but when food arrived it was just warm which was disappointing as it tasted very nice
High quality evening brilliant experience. A great birthday treat
A beautiful setting at Spinningfields and a lovely room with various areas, beautifully decorated - welcoming reception staff and attentive waiting staff but not overly intrusive.
Lovely classic food and some twists and also a great daytime set menu. Afternoon tea also available and looked lovely.
If you like glitz and a pretentious footballers wives atmosphere you will love this place. They put five of us around a table I wouldn't have sat three people. The last time I sat at a table that small was La Duree in Paris. The original back in the day IVY was terrific, this is a massively diluted and not very good reinvention.
Once you have been wowed by the overpowering nature of the decorations and interior design, it soon becomes tiring to look at.
The service was at best pleasant and on the basis we were not sat with superstars we were pretty much left alone.
It wasn't actually to pricey its just that value isn't all in the £££, the hostesses were snooty and made you feel a bit awkward. The waiters didn't love their jobs they were just there.
Truth is the food is OK. The accommodation is VERY cramped. The service was a bit BLAH. The decor was BLING! The experience over all was UNDERWHELMING.
Going back maybe...but only for a cup of tea and a crumpet with marmite and mustard... cos that was the highlight. 4/10
Well looked after, lovely table and ambience and food good as always.
I had been wanting to go since it’s opened so we booked into the Brasserie. I was quite surprised how reasonable priced it was. I had Prawn and tempura and pepper squid to start, good sized portion. Followed by beautiful seared tuna with creamed spins he’d, sweet roast potato in a Harris’s coconut yoghurt. We also had a glass of champagne ea h. There was only 2 of us and they automatically put a service charge on, which we were happy to pay. The food was delicious came away full and £50 pp for that. Can’t wait to go back and our server was Kin who was just lovely
Lovely relaxed atmosphere, great service and modern, contemporary twist on your food which had faultless presentation.
Overall the experience was very good and we had an enjoyable evening.
However we had gone for my daughter's 30th birthday and when I booked I put a note on the booking through open table asking for a candle on her dessert.
I was booked in at 7pm. I rang the Ivy half an hour before arriving just to confirm if this was possible.
The lady I spoke with said there was a note on the booking and they could do this. Great!
This however never happened.
I did not wish to mention this Infront of her as to dampen the otherwise great evening.
I was a little disappointed for an establishment of this calibre to stumble on something so simple.
I had left it in their hands and was let down.
On a very positive note, the décor and ambiance is a marvel. A must visit to take it in.
Beautiful settings. First class service by all staff. Hiccup with my daughter steak. But waiter was so helpful and replaced it straight away. But it didn't take away from the overall experience. Would definitely recommend and would be delighted to go again. I eat from the set menu and portion size were great. My food was delicious. All three courses
Brilliant time was had by both of us 😁
Great lunch, overall very satisfied with entire experience.
A lovely lunch from the set menu. Beautifully cooked food and fair sized portions. Great service and advice from Paul. Drinks are a tad expensive though.....
We were in Manchester shopping and decided it would be a great way to relax by having an intimate meal for the two of us at the Ivy. It’s our 1st time at the Ivy having dined at other fine dining establishments in Manchester. We must say this ranks amongst the best for food quality, attentive staff and atmosphere. The roof top bar is a pleasant and cosy location for a pre lunch aperitif.
What a fabulous place. Staff were amazing as was the food. This is the third time I have visited the restaurant and it always lives up to my expectations. Thank you.
Great food, great service and brilliant atmosphere, highly recommend.
My first time at this Ivy and I was impressed. I am a regular diner at other branches, and the consistency is remarkable.
I liked the decor, atmosphere, staff & the food, 3 diners, 3 different choices, was all very tasty & well presented.
We had a wonderful evening - the decor is beautiful, service excellent and personal, and the food was good. Enjoyed a cocktail in the stunning bar afterwards - definitely recommend!
Excellent service, food lovely and good value for money, would highly recommend to family and friends and will definitely visit again.
My husband’s birthday
Totally underwhelmed with The Ivy. It felt like a chain trying to trade off it's name rather than actually delivering a great experience. Food was less than average. The decor was OK but it was too dark in the Brasserie to read the menu. On a positive note the staff were great.
Exceptional service and attention to detail . The food was amazing and we were given a tour of the building my the manager in anticipation of us booking a party.
A fabulous night with my daughter (a birthday treat) - including drinks and supper. I have to say the service was excellent - and the food fantastic..... I would recommend the Ivy to anyone
We went for both my son's birthdays . The food was ok not as good as we
Have come to expect. The music was far too loud we couldn't hear each other or have a proper conversation. The customer service was not to standard . I thought that for tables of seven or more you had three hours to enjoy your meal we weren't even sat for two hours and told we had to leave as there was another party that needed our table. This wasn't good enough our taxi wasn't due for half an hour and we had to wait in the cold and my mother in law who is 94 was with us . There was no help and no attention to detail. We have eaten at the ivy four times before and this was by far the worst experience.
I think there is better food in Manchester, I may go back but not for a while.
Really disappointed that our booking had been changed to the brasserie rather than the roof garden. On arrival we were told to wait at the bar while they sorted our table on the garden then we were taken to the Brasserie and promised a table on the terrace after our meal. Non of which happened. Very disappointing experience.
The reception area was busy and felt confusing and disorganised. Once in the Brasserie, we were shown to a lovely table, the decor and comfort is fab. The food is not too badly priced but be careful with wine list, look beyond the first 3 bottles on the list and your bill will soon rack up. The food was good but not amazing- the sauce with the tuna steak was just dry, chopped ingredients- not a sauce at all. We had two waiters, the first being rather over-attentive in that we had about 11 visits from him by the time our mains arrived. Even so, he only thought to mention I would need side dishes with my choice just as it was about to be served. Second waiter was great.
All in all, a lovely meal but not left with an immediate need to rush back.
Our waiter was fantastic. Very friendly and helpful. My daughter and I both had fish and chips. We both found it very heavy and greasy. Not enjoyable at all. Very noisy on Saturday at 3pm. Not our best experience there. We have fined many times. Enjoyed the booths...maybe being higher up the noise isn’t as bad. We sat in a very draughty position by the door. Brrrr
Great location and loved the roof terrace for a drink before our table booking. It was a significant family get together and we all enjoyed it enormously some of us having travelled some distance to get there. The waiter was fantastic. Loved it,
Ambience was lovely, decor is really good and the service we got was outstanding. Food was pretty amazing too!
It was so dark and writing on menu so small we had to use our phone torches to read them! Cocktails - bellini and ivy upstairs tasted like pre made ones. Having said that food reasonably priced and very tasty.
The meal was lovely and the staff spot on. But we had to use the torches on our phone to see the menu, either you need more lightening or deeper readable colour on the menu. Plus we only realise when we arrived home that we had been charged for a glass of wine we didn’t have. We had ordered a bottle of wine and the waiter brought a single glass of wine, when told of his mistake he took the glass away and brought the bottle. But we were charged anyway!!!
Fabulous place with a great atmosphere and good value early diner meal, would definitely go again. Loved the roof terrace cocktails bar too.
Amazing amazing amazing so great service food quality and friendly service xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Tables too close together forcing waiter to nudge me when serving table next to us. I do not want to listen to the man on the next table holding forth! Will not be revisiting.
Lovely evening out for a birthday meal, unfortunately we had to keep asking for more water and for the wine as it has been whisked away, staff not close by so it took a while.
My main course was just warm (fishcake with poached egg) and the egg was cold - informed the staff where I was told I would get another egg, when it eventually arrived (just an egg) I had stopped eating my dinner as it had gone cold so left half of it! Such a shame as it was bursting with flavour, the rest of our group enjoyed theirs and could not fault it.
Did not want to complain too much at the time as it was a birthday treat for my husband otherwise I would have sent it all back and asked for the manager.
I am sure it was probably because they were unexpectedly busy for a midweek in January so will probably try again at some point.
Enjoyed our visit very much although we did send our main meals back as they weren’t very hot.
This was dealt with very well and the service was very good.
Had a lovely meal for my Mums birthday. Food, drinks and service were excellent. Would definitely recommend.
Good food and good service Thank you for a lovely breakfast
