Despite requesting tap water for the table, none arrived and when I asked for a drink of a glass of sparkling water i was brought a ver large bottle at £5. When you ask for a glass, most places will offer the soda from the bar tap so it felt like bullying to bring the expensive bottle. Otehrwise it was very enjoyable.

Went on my birthday, had a table booked for 8pm. They told us there was no table for us and made us stand in a corner and we didn’t get seated for about 40 minutes. Service was extremely slow, staff looked miserable and were arguing with each other in front of us. We didn’t receive our first dish until 9.30pm, the cocktails and food was bland and nothing special especially for the price. The bill came to around £190 for two people including a £23 tip which to be honest none of the staff deserved. We spent the majority of the time at the restaurant waiting to get the attention of staff - our empty dishes were not cleared and sat on the table for around 20 minutes at a time, and after we asked for the bill we were sat there for about 15 minutes just waiting. The only reason I’m not giving 1 star is because they gave us a complimentary dessert with a candle and happy birthday message - but my partner and I agreed we definitely will not be going back. If you’re looking for a special occasion meal I’d recommend wahaca or salt room in Brighton as they are cheaper and overall a much more pleasant experience.

Reception had delivery boxes piled up. Table for two very very close to diners either side. I was closer to a stranger than my partner across the table. One of the waitresses had a rip in the arm of her jacket. Our starter was delivered to the table beside us. They refused it and it was then brought to our table. Makes you feel second class. Good food although nothing special. I didn’t complain as this was a special birthday treat. They asked on the booking form whether it was a birthday celebration and confirmed it in reception but there was no recognition of it at all - so why ask?

Beautiful restaurant and delicious food but disappointed with service, unfortunately we had a miserable waitress (but other members of the team were lovely so perhaps we were unlucky) plus despite advising them in advance that it was my daughter’s 21st there was no mention of this at all….for an expensive restaurant this was disappointing.

On arrival, we weren't so much greeted as checked in. The person on the front desk was cold and not welcoming at all. They took my name, checked our coats, and whisked us into the restaurant without so much as a smile. After the whisking, we stopped to take in the breathtaking interior, and we took a few moments just soaking up the decor. We ordered 2 glasses of 0% sparkling wine, which was sadly not very good and at £10 a glass should have been far better. We were served by about 5 different people during the course of our visit, and it didn't feel like we were being particularly well looked after or able to build a rapport with our server. The food, however, was excellent, and once we established that 3 small plates each would be enough, we had plenty to eat. The atmosphere was good, and for a Sunday evening wasn't too quiet. On leaving we had to ask for our bill twice and were left waiting to reclaim our coats for several minutes. I think the issue with Ivy Asia is it's in the heart of Brighton, it's in the South Laines, and for some very weird reason, it's trying very hard to be a trendy London restaurant rather than a high-end Brighton restaurant. Brighton is a friendly city, Ivy Asia, be friendly. Be welcoming. As a one off experience for a special occasion I'd say it's worth a visit. Probably won't be going back unless they sort the customer service,

Fabulous experience from start to finish. Opulent surroundings, courteous and friendly staff. Fantastic tasting menu would highly recommend at £60 it is excellent. Great wine list and not exorbitant prices. Went on a saturday evening and there was a DJ and lady on the bongos, but the music was not overly loud and added to a special evebing. Would certainly recommend.

We had a really lovely time. The afternoon tea was great, I feel like there could’ve been more but it was still amazing food. The staff were lovely and made us feel very welcome. I’m disappointed the water was £6. I don’t believe anyone can justify charging people £6 for water, no matter what kind of establishment you’re in; especially when they don’t let you know when you ask and the price isn’t stated anywhere. That was the biggest let down. I’d like to come back and try the a la carte menu. Maybe not for the expensive water…

Usually love The Ivy Asia, but this time it was not up to the usual standards. Food menus were grubby and torn on the spine. Maybe it was down to the dishes we chose, but we usually love the food and this time it was just so-so. The asparagus in the yasai tempura was very tough, the green curry didn't seem to have as much flavour as it usually does and the tofu dish and cucumber salad was OK but nothing special. We usually say 'yum' to most of the dishes but didn't this time. Staff were lovely - although never asked us if they could get us more drinks - but still lovely.
