The Irving Inn Wine House
The Irving Inn is a charming neighborhood restaurant in the heart of downtown Rahway, New Jersey. Set in a relaxing atmosphere that captures the true spirit of Rahway, our menu is exclusively designed by Chef Lawrence Talis to delight guests with globally influenced seasonal fare and diverse wine options. Distinctly proud of being locally owned and operated, The Irving Inn extends the freshest food and drinks to this promising community.
Wonderful experience. Third time there.
Great food options!
Dinner was delicious and the atmosphere was charming. Though a number of tables were filled, conversation was easy and the background music pleasantly low. Service was excellent. I will absolutely recommend your restaurant to my friends and look forward to a return visit soon.
We thoroughly enjoyed a nice meal at The Irving Inn Wine House from start to finish. The cocktails were spot on, specifically the Manhattans and everything tasted very good! Our server was a gem and the intimacy of the restaurant lends itself to a wonderful experience.
Very nice place. Quiet in the dining room but noisy in the bar. Food was very good for what I expected. Would absolutely go again especially for hamburger and fries. TASTY.
Lexii is the best, Joanie is a close second
A quaint, lovely setting for a delicious meal. Recently discovered this beautiful dining restaurant and have eaten there three times in the last two months. Never disappointed! Friendly and attentive service and scrumptious food. What could be better!
The Irving Inn is a winner for sure. I dine at many fine establishments in N.J., and they have it down pat. They have someone amazing cooking in the kitchen because everything I have eaten there has been fabulous (and this time the 6 of us ordered almost the entire menu!). The drink and wine menu are approachable, and all mixed drinks were to die for. The service is on point; kind, professional, unobtrusive, and friendly. Lastly, it is a nice looking restaurant with dim lights and a rustic feel, cozy yet romantic enough for a date. I am sure it is no coincidence that the food and service next door at the Irving Inn social was just as spectacular. Try them both. You will not be disappointed!
We had a wonderful experience! Quickly becoming one of my favorites!
Delicious eats, amazingly friendly staff. I really enjoy my visits to the Irving Inn and Irving Social.
Our meal was delicious as always. The Chicken Pillard is my favorite. Service was excellent. Drinks were very good. One of my favorite restaurants
Was not what i expected probally will never go back
Amazing food with reasonable prices but when we were there the staff had their hands full with a holiday party. The service and the timing on receiving our dishes suffered as a result. However I would definitely go back and try them again. The steaks were incredible. Drinks were delicious. They had creative, original appetizers that were executed and presented well.
This is not in our usual area. But, I would make the effort to come back. Each course would easily be in the top 10 of dishes i've had in NJ. A wonderfully varied appetizer menu with some unique offerings like roasted bone marrow, cauliflower steak or wild mushroom marsala in polenta, followed by some exceptionally well prepared entrees. Pork Chop was perfectly cooked and flavorful but it was the braised cabbage and cherries that made the dish special. One of the best chicken paillards around.
Don't miss the house made coconut bread pudding, its world class.
It's an old type historic inn that is tiny at best, but smells great and feels cozy. If you are anywhere in Union County, don't miss this place!
One of my favorite restaurants. Elegant yet casual. Food is creative and delicious. Drinks are fabulous. And service is always attentive. Great place.
Great Food! Great Service! Great Cocktails! Great Atmosphere! Warm and inviting Staff!!!
This restaurant has an excellent menu for vegans/vegetarians
Recommended by a friend, very pleased with my experience. Friendly and attentive host. Food was very good. Had a pork tenderloin with corn pudding that was cooked perfectly. My party all had chicken paillard that was also great. The menu is creative yet authentic. Will certainly return.
Loved this place. Sat outside by the bar. Bartender was awesome. Great drinks. We decided to eat at the bar. Food was delicious. Will def go back.
This restaurant has a lot of potential but was a huge disappointment in the area of service. Very cool decor and the food was pretty good but the service was terrible. Took at least 45 minutes to get someone to take our order and the staff seemed very stressed.
Patio was a great place for dinner. Service and food both excellent
Love the place, nice and quiet. Great service and food.
Food is well worth the trip
The food and service was excellent.
Restaurant quaint and charming.
Bourbon selection outstanding and mixed cocktails unique and flavorful.
Will return and want to try patio seating .A little gem in Rahway
Great food! Great service!
We always have a wonderful time when we go for dinner. The food is exceptional, as is the service.
Steak was terrible
Every dish I have tried here has been the best meal I have ever had.
Great food & drinks. Lovely small cozy restaurant next to a bar they own. We ordered small plates & loved every dish - mussels, spicy shrimp, crab cake, Buratto & Fig Toast.
Also one of the better Bourbon old fashioned cocktail I have had...
Excellent. Treated warmly and professionally. Food was done beautifully, and wine was very good. Highly recommend.
Great private table for 8 upstairs.
Very poor service. Waiter with an attitude. I would not come back
I was looking for a nice restaurant for a group to eat at prior to seeing a show at the local theater. Unfamiliar with restaurants in Rahway, I turned to Open Table and found the Irving Inn. This restaurant did not disappoint even all my gourmet food friends. The atmosphere was cozy and the service was great. Our server Joanie, was a part owner of the restaurant. How often do you have that for service? She was so much fun and worked with us to have a relaxing, yet time constrained meal. Everything from appetizers to the main course was mouth watering. We all said we will make a trip back just to dine at the Irving Inn. Hoping to go in the warmer weather when the patio opens up. If you decide to try this place, I can almost guarantee you won't be disappointed.
We were treated like family. It was our first time at this restaurant, and we were very pleased. We will definitely go back
Great food, creative options, reasonably priced. Parking was easy around the corner in the parking deck. Service was attentive but not overly so. Cozy dining experience. Enough variety on the menu to please everyone's tastes. Portions were appropriate. You leave feeling satisfied but not stuffed. A great option if you are looking for something a bit different without the snobby feel of some fine dining establishments. Only reason I am not giving it full five stars overall is because the solution they use to clean the tables in between parties has a very strong smell and they are not shy about getting those tables clean. I appreciate the need to sanitize but if they can either use something with a more gentle smell, or, spray without disbursing the scent across the dining area, that would be appreciated. A very minor blip in an otherwise lovely evening out with friends.
They had a good steak, the service was decent, they are friendly. The place is rather small but is not an issue.
The food was VERY good, so was the service. I love the decor as well. Nice selection of classic rock in the background.
Great service !! The food was also very tasty and they had a lot of healthy options! Totally recommend the Irving!
It was exactly what my husband and I were looking for our date night. Charming quaint environment, delicious food and drink, and engaging friendly staff. We loved chatting with Joanie, the co- owner.
Definitely disappointed! Date night dining not to remember. Halibut entree was over cooked and under seasoned. My husband found the steak to be sinewy and not worth the price. However, we did enjoy the crab cake appetizer and service was good.
