Delicious food in a very cool place!!
Menu options were limited for brunch but the food was delicious. Service was good but felt they were rushing a bit to get our orders in before the kitchen closed. Appreciated that the staff called and recommended we come in prior to our reservation because otherwise the kitchen would be closed. Need to fix the reservation system on Open table. And it is true from other reviews that certain staff did not comply with wearing face masks. Overall nice brunch.
This was Easter Sunday during the Covid pandemic. We arrived to a virtually empty restaurant which had been set for proper social distancing. Thats all fine. We ordered cocktails. Two bloody marys (uninspired) and two makers mark cocktails with just the slightest hint of liquor. The food was bland. Not much else to say.
Had a wonderful brunch. Service was great....couldn't have asked for a better time! Thank you!
It was average. Good food. No one ever offered to refill coffee or waters at brunch. Had to ask. Sadly nothing special.
I made a reservation a week in advance. I spoke to a live person who took the reservation and the day before my reservation....someone called me to cancel because they decided they were going to close the restaurant for repairs or maintenance. I chose the place due to the fact that I could bring my daughter's puppy.
I get it, things happen. But not even a " an appetizer or a cocktail on us when you do make it in". From a management/marketing point of view, not how I would have handled it.
We waited 20min for coffee and food was cold.
Good food. Sterile atmosphere. Service a little slow but server was very pleasant and working to serve everyone. $4 coffee a little steep.
Everything was delicious! Avocado appetizer was good, but a bit heavy on the sour cream. Avocado half could have been a little bigger.
We ordered all of the vegetable sides and we split the flank steak. The cauliflower definitely could have been a little bit bigger. Not what I would expect for $10.
Brussel sprouts were good although a bit heavy on the sauce.
Broccolini with the Miso sauce was very tasty. I wasn't a fan of the cauliflower sauce so actually dipped the cauliflower in the Miso sauce which made it incredible.
Thanks for a yummy dinner.
Always a wonderful time at ASH. Shannon is the best, and makes every visit memorable.
We loved the atmosphere! We were seated right by the chef station so we could watch the fire & them prepare the meals. We liked feeling the warmth of the fire. Can't wait to return when the outdoor patio is open. The food was fabulous!
What a wonderful experience, we came to stay at iron horse for the weekend and to celebrate some birthdays and an anniversary! They brought us champagne to syart off our celebration!
The service was amazing, Shannon rocks!
Our food was mouth-watering, the scallops are to die for!
Thanks for taking care of us Ash!
The ribeye melts in your mouth! It’s amazing! All the sides have tons of flavor - Brussels were our fav & the fingerling potatoes.
Food & service was very good. We liked the sides to share. Drinks were good but really those paper straws have got to go.
They were taking reservations online when they were closed. Our party showed up along with other parties waiting for the host to basically tell us all to go home and that it “happens frequently”. Very bad experience
The wait staff seemed very confused as we walked in for our 9:45 reservation. Several dirty tables and not a single other party in the restaurant. The overall experience felt awkward and inconveniencing. I would not recommend breakfast/brunch at the Iron Horse based on this experience, which is disappointing as I’ve been here before for brunch outside and the experience was fine.
I was appalled at the complete lack of COVID precautions followed by ASH. Our waitress had her mask down below her mouth (using it as a chin covering) for the entire time she was serving us. Another staff member, who appeared to be a manager, also had his mask down below his nose for our entire time at ASH. We were sat 5 feet from the table next to us. The food was mediocre. The ambiance was dull.
It was all right. I have had better experiences there.
The food was great. The manager went by constantly but never even attempted to cover his nose with his mask. Our server was even worse as her mask was so loose it tested below her chin with her mouth in full view. Hard to be critical with the staff, though, if the manager is setting a bad example. All the diners did their part. Wish the waitstaff did theirs.
An early celebration for my wife’s birthday, we had attentive service without being overbearing and outstanding food. Received a complimentary dessert for the birthday, was much appreciated.
Great experience with amazing food. So unique with everything wood smoked. Highly recommend
Open fire cooking was unique. The flavor of the food was very good, but it was only slightly warmer than room temperature when served. The portions were on the small side and was not a good value. Staff was friendly and attentive. Limited options for intimate seating.
First of all, the food was very, very good. We had the brussel sprouts, avocado, flat iron steak, scallops and chocolate cake. All had great flavor and came out perfectly cooked/prepared. Not sure if this was a service staff or kitchen issue, but there was a very long wait time in between the appetizers and main courses and it took quite a while for initial service from the waitress. There were a lot of large tables (6+ patrons) that had been seated so certainly that could have factored in as well. I probably would not have have minded the wait terribly, but the waitress, bartender and who I assume to be the restaurant manager were making me uncomfortable wearing their mask or gaiter under their noses the entire time. When our waitress came over to take our order her mask was under her nose and she was all up in my business. I guess I just expect higher standards from the service staff for a restaurant with a higher end price tag. I've been to other Milwaukee establishments where they take their safety measures very seriously, explaining the protocols to patrons as they enter etc. It just seemed like they didn't really care and if they are that lax about it with the front of the house service, it makes you wonder what might be going on in the kitchen. If you are someone who doesn't care about COVID safety measures, then by all means, go eat here. But if you are like me and you want the staff to be taking precautions, then maybe hold off until COVID is under control. Again, the food is really good and I imagine the ambience could be if I didn't feel so darn uncomfortable about the mask wearing/lack thereof.
I understand Covid, and we are trying to support local. This was awful, it is sad to see such a decline! Please look at your Open table menu compared to your non- existent brunch menu. The cold crusty waffles and cardboard paper thin English muffin was a joke. Staff wearing masks as “chin warmers” . This used to be such a fabulous place ... SAD :(
Fair at best. Went for Valentine's day brunch. There were serving the same brunch menu that we had in the middle of July. My entree was just luke warm, my wife ordered chicken and waffles alot of waffle maybe something that looked like one chicken nugget. Our server just did not have her act together. Did not get the drink order right, never checked on us, never refilled coffee. Forgot most of the little things. Based on this experience most likely will not go back anytime soon.
ASH did a great job with the tables being appropriately distanced. Our food was delicious, the passionfruit mimosa was suberb. Everyone was friendly. Staff was appropriately masked. It was nice to feel safe dining inside.
Slow service; we kept asking for things like silverware. Much of the food was barely warm. Nice setting. . .
It was nice!
My boyfriend and I first time here at Ash! It was absolutely delicious! My boyfriend and I loved the entire experience! Will definitely be back! Highly recommend!
Great environment! Food was freshly and excellent
amazing spot, great food!
Hipster vibe, wood fired oven grills fish, steak and other meats to perfection. Great sides and cocktails.
We had a lovely dinner at Ash the previous evening. Breakfast was a different story. The host was short with us. Food took over thirty minutes to come out and there were issues with the order. Host had sharp remarks. Not likely to return for breakfast.
Honestly, we were not expecting great, but that exactly what it was. Grilled avocado appetizer...wow. Short ribs for 2. Incredible. With naan bread, lettuce, incredible sauces, etc for you to make pretty much whatever you would like out of your short ribs....Even the sides of fingerling potatoes and broccolini...incredible. The new wood fired kitchen is very cool....think Selden Standard in Detroit if you've been...
I miss the buffet bar that iron horse had and understand that because of our current health situation that’s not possible now; but I would like to see better options for brunch
Nice hotel. Food was really good but we did not feel the whole experience came close to other restaurants with similar pricing in terms of the menu options, ambiance, etc.
The booth and table was dirty when we got there and we had to ask to have it cleaned. The menu didn't reflect what was online and the choices were slim to none. We had to ask for silverware after our meal was brought to us. We had to wait for drinks. We waiting at least 20 minutes before we even received our 1st drink.
Food was just alright. I was disappointed with the menu options.
Best chicken and waffles I’ve ever had...And I’ve had them all over the country.
