Please visit our website to learn more about The Inn at Pound Ridge by Jean-Georges http://www.theinnatpoundridge.com/ Chef Jean‑Georges introduces his latest venture, a casually elegant restaurant ensconced in the picturesque town of Pound Ridge, New York. Here, Jean‑Georges cultivates a truly seasonal, farm-to-table cuisine, with ingredients sourced from the Hudson Valley and New England, whenever possible. Constructed in 1833 as a residence and serving later as an inn, the building has been painstakingly renovated to preserve as many of the original materials as possible, including four working fireplaces. Thomas Juul-Hansen designed the restaurant’s interior with a modern yet rustic sensibility; zinc and marble accent stone and reclaimed wood. The restaurant’s lighting, artfully conceived by Hervé Descottes, employs paper shades and Edison fixtures to create warmth throughout.

I almost can't rave enough. We live close by and eat there every couple of weeks. We have favorites on the menu, but the menu changes enough that there's always something new to try. I tried their new Black Sea Bass recipe; poached with wild mushrooms, some slices of red jalapenos, and other magic. OMG. it is frigging wonderful. Not cheap. $58. My dinner companion had Hake, a fish that I had only had in an earlier iteration here. With fresh pea pods and some other subtle things, it was just perfect. If you're fortunate enough to be within 30-45 minutes of Pound Ridge, and fortunate enough to be able to afford Jean Georges, you'll be glad you came. Oh, and service was great.

I’ve been to many Jean-George restaurants in the Northeast, many times, over the last decade. I was shocked to find the food quality to be exceptionally poor. We ordered two kale salads and they were gritty. Clearly the kale had not been thoroughly washed. We couldn’t eat them and had to leave them untouched. The other appetizers were fine, mediocre at best. The single standout dish was the side of spring snap peas with brown butter. All in all, we would not return, nor recommend.

It’s been a year since our last visit as we no longer live in the area. The food and service were as perfect as our last visit. The lobster is my favorite dish and it was delicious. The soft shell crab starter was a wonderful edition. My husband, who isn’t a foodie, was so thrilled with his meal, he said he’d eat at The Inn every night!

Disappointed with our service this time around. The wait staff was not attentive- water not filled, wine not filled (at a high level restaurant- they should pour), generally ignored. We’ve had great experiences here in the past, but our last visit was mediocre.

They were woefully understaffed and served blackened burnt bread that we sent back and were then told "we have no more bread". They also seated 2 people immediately whereas we were waiting to be seated for at least a half an hour after our reservation. Although the food was good, service is just as important and it seemingly does not matter at this place.

The food is always good but the service staff needs training. Leftovers were placed on the table before we were even finished. We were celebrating and I have to ask them to remove a huge bag so we could put a cake. I would expect better.
