The Ice House Bar and Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Fourth time we ate here and had another great meal. Salad wedge, scallops wrapped in bacon and the special tempura shrimp for appetizers. I had the broiled seafood combination and my husband had the blacken tuna. Our friends had the stuffed flounder and a pasta dish with shrimp and scallops. A little down time between apps and dinner, but We didn't mind because everything is so fresh, nothing is frozen. Takes time to create a meal like this. So all the complainers out there that say service is slow just stop and think. Most restaurants around this area are fast food and made to get food out quick to hungry vacationers. Go here enjoy the wine and relax. Our server was wonderful. Def would go back.
Food was good. Service could have been better. Our Waitress was not very caring. I had seafood platter, and my husband had a salad. My husband finished his salad, the waitress came back to table asked us if we wanted anything else we said, "no" she proceeded to bring the check before I was finished my entrée.
Upon arrival hostess not overly cordial no smile not very welcoming. Server arrived and the service was spotty. Took me over 20 mins to receive my drink after ordering. Our server seemed to disappear for a long while during the entire meal and never offered dessert just brought the check.
This is a gem of a restaurant in Wildwood Nj. The menu has something for everyone and their specials are the best. On a recent evening we had Veal Oscar. The veal was fork tender and the crab meat was jumbo lump and plentiful. Asparagus perfectly prepared and the sauce was an accompaniment not too much but just delicious. We are now regulars as we start our weekends at Ice House. Early bird menu available with great options and portions. If you just want a burger you are in the right place too. Soups are freshly prepared , try the crab and corn chowder! If you are vacationing on the South Jersey shore put this on you to do list for a great meal. Staff is great , a fabulous bartender and the owners/chef are on premise and very accommodating.
It all started with being ignoreed by the hostess for 10 minutes. And we had reservations! All she had to do was say "I'll be right with you". She was busy setting tables and giving out menus to tables that were already seated. When we finally did get seated there was no apology for having kept us waitinng so long. The food was poor quality - my bacon wrapped scallops were deep fired and were so small you couldn't even taste them. My stuffed flounder had to have been packaged and frozen - there was no way it was fresh! My husband's seafood platter was OK, but we will never go back again!
The food was very good. It was Restaurant week and their selections were varied and excellent. The presentation of the food was very nice. It was very busy and the restaurant was very short staffed. Our wait staff, Liz, was very good. She did the best she could considering all the other tables she was waiting on. The food presentation was paced nicely and we had an enjoyable evening
Our party of 8 included 2 young children just so you know background of expectations. Service seemed somewhat inattentive and inexperienced. We were able to put children's order in so at least they were taken care of for that, but I believe that the entire dining experience was well over 2 hours. (Kids getting antsy before our food showed uo) Our 1st course was served before the appetizers came out - which I have to think was the kitchen's fault. Other guests seemed to have equally slow dining experience.
Food was very good. Would recommend to those without children.
Wildwood scheduled their restaurant week right after all of the working staff returned to school. We waited an hour for our table, despite an OT reservation and waiting for our meal and check was painfully long. The appetizers (bacon wrapped scallops and Bruchetta) were very good, then the salad (mine was the Cesar) was a bit too strong for me, the clam chowder was good too. The shrimp & scallop dish was ok, & my Mahi-Mahi was bit over cooked & we took our desserts home. I'd say that the food was good & the atmosphere was clean and modern but the service was soooo slow that we will probably not return.
Food was great, especially the crab cakes. Wine list was decent and the prices were reasonable. Didn't know about the 5pm to 6pm early bird special but it was a pleasant surprise. The icehouse wedge was good as well as the crab and corn soup. Desserts were great too! We will definitely be back.
When we drove up it didn't look inviting for a nice family dinner with a loud open roof deck bar. But was I wrong - it was great! The inside dining room is beautiful, yet there was plenty of space to keep a 19 month old occupied between courses. The wait staff was great, and the food was delicious!!!! I would highly recommend this hidden gem.
My wife an I were hoping to have dinner on the deck but the deck was over run by a very large group so we were forced to use the dining room. The dining room menu was a little more pricy than the deck and we felt to stuffy. We were hoping for a more casual experience.
We stumbled upon this place and ate the first night at the indoor part. Excellent seafood which is fresh from across the street at the seafood market. Great martini's. Waitress was very good. I have a gluten allergy and they were very accommodating. We loved it so much we went back the following night and ate at the outdoor part upstairs Live music beautiful view of the bay. Food is more casual upstairs. Great burgers and yummy appetizers. Mojitos are very good.
The yellow fin tuna was a very nice piece of seafood, and the soy sauce that accompanied it was very tasty. It was probably cooked about a minute too long. The Fishermans stew was thoroughly enjoyed by tow of our party members. Highly recommend it. All of the seafood appeared to be very fresh, unlike some other restaurants in the area. While we dine inside, there is a nice open-air deck that serves sandwiches and the like upstaris, but we opted for entrees in the more formal indoor setting. The Huckleberry Lemonade was a very refreshing drink, and the souvenir glass a nice touch.
We had been there last year during Restaurant Week and had an entirely different experience than this time. This year, the service was indifferent. The waitress needs to learn a phrase other than "no problem" which she repeated at least 20 times. When I asked for water, she did not inquire whether others at the table wanted some. Our cocktail drinks sat on the table, without any request whether we wanted them replenished. The noise level was loud, making it difficult to hear our dining partners across the table. The food, however, was just as good as last year, including the bacon wrapped scallops, the salads, and the steak, crab and mahi mahi.
We went on a "restaurant night" and found both the portions and the quality to be very good. Scallops (4) wrapped in bacon with a dipping sauce were very sweet, tender and made for a delicious appetizer. Corn and Crab bisque did not have much crab meat, but was tasty nonetheless. My Filet Oscar came with a very tender filet, and a generous portion of very sweet lump crabmeat. I'm not a big dessert person, and the desserts here were just okay. However, the rest of the meal made up for this. The only negative was the noise level as there isn't much to soften the sounds from other tables.
I went here with my wife and another couple. After reading other reviews we were excited to go and eat dinner on their deck, unfortunately the deck only serves appetizers. After being seated it took almost fifteen minutes for our waitress to take our drink order and the rest of the night took just as long. We sat in the restaurant for over 2 1/2 hours to complete dinner. The only saving grace was that the food was amazing. I believe that with better staffing the experience would have been much better.
We had a wonderful dinner at the Ice House. The food was delicious. Our server was excellent she was efficient, attentive and personable. We tried it for Restaurant Week and we will return again. The presentation of the food was very nice. The restaurant has a nice selection of entrees and appetizers. It was a great find The chef prepared delicious meals with quality ingredients
Unfortunately. We choose to eat inside on a Tuesday evening. Because we preferred the
That menu over the hopping , happy hour, outdoor roof venue. We were the sole diners indoors. Upstairs on the deck over looking the marina was mobbed. Beers 2$. Well drinks 5$!
Our meal was delicious. Service excellent.
Appetizers- Average -Bruschetta was good, would have been better if better bread had been used.
Salad- Cesar Salad - excellent
Drinks - Special Berry and Absolut sounded better than it tasted.
Meals - Fishermans Stew - portion very large, taste was very fulfilling
- Prime Rib was special on sheet handed to us; however once ordered was told no longer available. Filet was nice piece of meat, but not cooked evenly. Right side cooked more than left; not fault of chef, rather faulty cooking surface.
There are no prices for drinks on the menus. Iced teas and sodas are $2.50 each. When we got the bill, we were charged for each refill we ordered. I contacted the restaurant afterwards and they stated that they do not advertise the price of their drinks and nowhere does it state "free refills" so I should have realized there were no free refills. So just know this before you go in, sit on the deck on a hot, sunny day, and order a bunch of drink. It adds up quickly.
The place seemed interesting online, but was average at best. On a Sat during beach season, the place was notably empty. There were two large families, with kids running around, and that probably detracted from our experience, but not the restaurant's fault. The calarmari and caprese salad were very good. The crab cake was more filling than crab and the filet was overcooked. I decided not to send it back, because in a restaurant I do not know, I am always a little reluctant to do that. Instead, I ate half and the server was nice enough to have our bill reduced a bit. Oddly enough, I was looking forward to another drink and/or dessert, but after she retrieved our entrees and discussed the overcooked meat, she promptly brought our check
My husband and I recently drove down from Ocean City, NJ to have dinner at The Ice House. It was well worth the drive! We had a delicious dinner.......I started with the Crab-tini appetizer and it was sooooooo good, large lumps of fresh crab with a yummy mango salsa. For dinner I had the Filet Mignon, Oscar. The steak was cooked perfectly, tender and flavorful with a delicious bearnaise sauce with large, plentiful jumbo lump crab meat. I finished my meal with the Chocolate lava cake, amazing!
The waitstaff are friendly and attentive and made some good recommendations. We had a great meal and a great evening, Thank you!
The food was delicious. Several times we had ordered a desert and the sever came back and told us they were sold out. This was 7pm, she should have known about it prior to us ordering. Then we were charged for the deserts we did not get. Overall the meal was great but a little noisy, large table with kids.
We go maybe 1 or 2 times per year. The food is always excellent and very reasonable for the quality. I had a request to have a different side from another dish and the waitress took care of it. Price fixed menu till 6 pm was great although that was not why we went. Waitstaff was outstanding with just the right amount of attention. Highly recommend you will not be disappointed.
