The Hutton Restaurant & Bar
The Hutton is a neighborhood restaurant, bar and wine bar located on Hutton Street between Sanford Place and JFK Boulevard (On the corner of Hutton Street and Sanford Place)in the Heights of Jersey City. We aim to provide a comfortable local pub where you can not only have a pint or glass of wine, but also enjoy great food in a warm, casual setting. We also have a fantastic outdoor patio for spring and summertime.
We had a great time celebrating Valentine’s Day at The Hutton. The staff was extremely attentive and pleasant. We will definitely go back again for dinner, as well as recommend it to our family and friends.
very good food, ambiance, service, etc. Would definitely go back.
The Hutton is around the corner from me and the drinks are reasonably priced but I find that the price of the food is weirdly nonproportional to the drinks. That said, the food is really is amazing. I always enjoy it! The Hutton is best in the summer when you can eat outside in the courtyard.
Love this spot, it's become my home bar/restaurant after a move from queens to JC. Management and staff are awesome, personable and on point with their skills. The space is well designed yet low key. A great spot to bring out of town guests, a glass of wine with a girly or even great to dine alone. Food is good for plant based, a couple vegan options and specials every week especially for those who eat meat. I'll be back soon.
Pub food with an upscale taste. Pleasantly surprised. Food was excellent, drinks were perfect and service was great! Will for sure be back.
The food was amazing. Loved everything about this restaurant. It’s a hidden treasure!
Love the Hutton. Have been several times and it's always a great experience.
The menu was creative and the food was delish!
Great restaurant in the heights! Delicious food, nice ambiance, cool backyard/outdoor space.
Loved the outdoor setting at The Hutton. They did a great job of creating a courtyard dining experience in the middle of a neighborhood that is not that attractive. The inside of the restaurant looked very dark and needs to be updated. But since we ate outside, it didn't matter to us.
The food was EXCELLENT! Loved both our appetizers and entrees.
The Hutton has a great local, neighborhood ambiance and the cocktails and food were exceptional. Highly recommended!
We have visited the Hutton upwards of 20 times in the last year- it has replaced our previous favorite places to dine by a wide margin. The menu is comfort food and eclectic all at the same time. Because even the Hutton Burger will taste like no other burger you have ever had. The Seafood, Pasta dishes and appetizers are all unique and different. All is done on premises. Top bites : Apple Guacamole, Smashed Avocado salad, Hutton Burger, Barbeque Chicken, Pasta is made daily so each day highlights a different pasta in a Chicken Bolognese sauce. The daily specials are simply amazing. And if you are still hungry - try and walk away from their dessert menu is sinful. As for service you have never felt more welcome in a place than manager - Robert and server par excellence Jennie (our personal favorite!) Please try it you won't be disappointed. It is a welcome and needed addition to the Jersey City Heights neighborhood.
We have come back time after time always on a Sunday for brunch and a little Trad Session. We've never had a problem with parking or finding the perfect table. We will be trying it on a Friday or Saturday night soon!
Great find and good fun. Try the outdoor seating.
Second visit, as good as the first which was great. Inventive menu, all entrees have an interesting twist which makes them far above average. Quick service. Many drink options all at a reasonable price. Truly a neighbor hood gem.
Quality, low key, casual renovated neighborhood restaurant. Very good food and good service. Inventively prepared food at a fair price. Great for any occasion.
Hutton is a new neighborhood classic. Located on a quiet residential street, where parking is at a premium, it encourages you to take an Uber and have a couple extra great seasonal drafts.
I took my dad here for Father's Day dinner and they managed to impress him with the quality of T-Bone steak that might be a first in 30 odd years of trying to impress him :-)
Father’s Day brunch. Outstanding!
This is our 2nd time at The Hutton, and it was for Father’s Day brunch. Much more enjoyable than our previous dinner experience! Lovely outdoor space, good, hearty breakfasts and tasty drinks. I’ll have to try dinner again.
Went here for Father's Way and the food was DELICIOUS!!! The kids enjoyed their Unicorn Waffles and we enjoyed our Mimosas, french toast, and frittata. We will definitely visit again to check out the dinner menu and evening cocktails! #NeighborhoodGem
Great place to eat! Great food! Great service. They are also expanding their kitchen.
Took them a while to acknowledge and seat us but once we were seated, everything tasted great and showed up quickly!
Went here for Sunday brunch. Food was great and the ambiance was fun. They had an Irish band playing!
The staff went above and beyond. Everyone had a good attitude even though especially busy day. The food both in taste and presentation was outstanding — definitely taking their own spin for some the dishes making for surprisingly delicious twists. It was all around excellent. We went for brunch but will certainly be back for dinner. The space is cozy and they’ve done a lot to make it inviting.
Food was delicious and unique.
I had met up with a long time friend of mine at The Hutton for dinner. I've been wanting to try the restaurant out in Jersey City for awhile but I did not get the chance. We started with the Apple Guacamole (which was fantastic and has a vegan option upon request) and then followed by me ordering The Hutton Burger and her the Sweet Potato Tamale which also is a vegan dish. Both entrees were delicious. One more aspect that I truly appreciated was the good selection on the beer and cocktail menu. I had a pint of Guinness and it was quite possibility the best pint I had ever had, I will definitely recommend The Hutton to all my friends.
Can't wait to check out the brunch menu and the outdoor seating area once the weather heats up.
We chose the Hutton for a business dinner based on our colleagues recommendation and it did not disappoint. The service was friendly and attentive from start to finish. The food was outstanding! We both had the Hutton burger and would highly recommend. It was honestly one of the best burgers I have ever had.
Next time we are in the area we will choose the Hutton again and again.
Overall the experience was pleasant due to the incredible service of our waitress (I can't recall her name but I think it was Janine). She was on point the entire time, she was pleasant, and attentive.
The menu had plenty of choices but unfortunately the only item that was good was the Hamburger my friend ordered. I ordered the Cod Fish & Chips, I picked at it and managed to find a few decent bites but far from what I had hoped for. The asparagus appetizer wasn't good either, in fact I only ate it because I was so hungry (my friend took one bite and gave up), it was overcooked, limp and flavorless, despite being served with a fondu type sauce (the sauce was tasty).
The cocktails were the star of the evening, absolutely delicious, yet slightly overpriced for the neighborhood. With all that said, I will still go back. The atmosphere was perfect for sitting outside on a warm summer night. I'm going to give the chef another chance in hopes that it was just an off night, and hope that management reads this and prices the drinks according to the neighborhood (otherwise what could be a great local place to frequent may not last).
I dine out a lot and often times struggle to find more casual places that have upscale quality food and service. The Hutton offers the people of Hudson County a well appointed bar with modernized classic ambiance, excellent alfresco dining in a beautiful tree shaded patio, kind welcoming staff members, live music and cultural performances, projected movies
and sports events, and creative and delicious food. While there our group had the evening's specials. The abundant pot of fresh mussels was in the most delicious, light, and flavorful sauce. The arugula salad was crisp and full of bright summer flavors. The ribeye with celery, fig, and creamy dressing was unique and showcased the talent of the chef in its presentation and flavor. Everything we ate (and we ate a lot) was delightful and satisfying. I was so impressed when I peeked in the open kitchen and discovered there was such a small space and only two staff members preparing such quality meals. I think it a great value considering I would have had to commute to NYC to get anything remotely similar to this type of gastropub experience. The Heights is positioned to be the next big thing in Jersey City. I have tried to support several of the new establishments as I am enthusiastic for a new area to go to where the focus is on giving the patrons quality food, drinks, and service rather than just a party atmosphere. That being said, I believe several years from now The Hutton will be heralded for setting the new standard for the area. Where others are falling short, The Hutton seems to be excelling. The standout food and the inviting and comfortable ambiance and neighborhood feel keep me wanting to hang out there often. I am confident as they approach their one year anniversary that they will continue to perfect their efforts and will grow more popular. I highly recommend it! Don't forget to get the amazing Italian doughnuts for dessert!
We recently went to the Hutton for Hudson County Restaurant Week. The restaurant was renovated beautifully with a lot of attention to detail. We were pleasantly surprised by the large enclosed outside patio. Plenty of tables and not too close together. At 9 pm there was a movie projected onto the side of an adjoining building. A nice touch for a warm summer evening. Our server, Jenny, was knowledgable and very attentive without being overbearing. The three course Restaurant Week menu allowed us to sample a variety of items on the menu. The portion size was large. There were plenty of left overs for the next day's lunch. We had the Chicken sliders, shrimp skewers, fish and chips and a burger. Each item had a little surprise or unexpected ingredient that was tasty and interesting. We will be going back and would recommend The Hutton.
Definitely would not be coming back here. Came here for brunch on Father's Day. I checked the menu online saw it had lots of great options so decided to check the place out. When I arrived the hostess was not around. I was seated by the waiter. He handed over the brunch menu which was a totally different menu that was on the website. I ordered the hangover sandwich. The egg looked as if it was cooked on the same grill as everything else my fiancé ordered. It did not look appealing all. His scrambled eggs were brown and his waffle was black from being over cooked on both sides. My son ordered the cereal which he enjoyed but only came with the smallest cup of milk you would use if you served it with coffee. So I had to ask for another. So overall I have to say the food was not great. Not a place I would recommend.
Awesome brunch spot & bar with lots of outdoor seating. Avocado toast and cauliflower steak were amazing. People in my group also loved the lemon pancakes and hangover burger. We stayed to hear the live Irish music jam session which was great!
Great place with friendly people. Very nice cocktails and probably the best burger I have ever had. A bit pricey for the area but I cant wait to visit again.
What a great find! I've been wanting to try The Hutton in Jersey City for awhile but I dont often venture "up to the heights." Well get in an Uber and get up to The Hutton. We started with the oysters (next time we will get a full dozen) and then followed by the bruschetta. The homemade pasta was amazing. One more thing that I truly appreciated - the cocktail menu. So many establishments ignore the vodka drinker on their cocktail menu - not The Hutton. I wish more places would give respect to vodka drinkers.
Can't wait to check out the brunch.
The food was great, service was fine but the wait (for food) time was excessive ...an hour for appetizers on a prefixe menu.
Staff was friendly. Waitress was knowledgeable and friendly. The food was def on point and on the money.
I finally made it to the new neighborhood restaurant. It was busier than I anticipated for a Wednesday night. Food was nicely prepared and tasty. Drinks were great...though they tried to tell me simply serving a standard drink in a martini glass was a $2.00 upcharge. I told them it wasn't and they didn't charge me. Service was attentive, but I think they were not prepared for the "crowd" so they were caught understaffed. We did the complete dinner, "chips" snacks...ok..but too thin and overcooked.. My spouse ordered the crab cake and the kale salad and he loved both. I had a simple salad, it was fine. I ordered the steak and he the carbonara...both very good. Dessert was the sorbet and a chocolate pot de crème...both good...we liked it and will go back, especially since we can walk. My favorite part of the meal was the rosemary/bourbon house cocktail....delicious..... slight tweaking and the place will be a local star..
Our service here was great. There were four of us and we all were very happy with our dinner and a nice bottle of red wine. 2 of us had the chicken dish and loved it . Tender chicken with great flavors and we thought the barley risotto was amazing. One had the burger and thought it was one of the best around and the 4th person had the salmon and said it was moist and still nice and crispy on the outside. Great addition to the heights!!
