Our friends were visiting from Oregon for a birthday treat and had heard of the Huntington.
They loved it, being a Master Gardener and an artist in ironwork
We treated them to tea and they loved it. It has always been very special for us to have tea with you, but acknowledge the price is high.
They said the Huntington was the highlight of their time here.
Efrain was a wonderful, hospitable server... Kind, friendly, unhurried, patient. Our waitress was amazing too!! She had great recommendations.
Also, very thankful for the GF menu option!! I have celiac disease and it was really special that my family could have a lovely tea together like this. LOVE this place!
The Huntington tea blend is amazing! The service is always very personable and gracious. We love the Huntington!
David was a great server. He was funny and charming and answered all my questions regarding the tea service.
The food was great and the Huntington Blend tea was probably the best tea I’ve ever had. All in all a very enjoyable experience and I can not wait to go back!
Such a nice place to enjoy friends company. Always a great selection of tea to choose from.
Lovely venue. Quite expensive. The scones were very dry. The small, warm scones on the previous menu were much better.
Love this place!! It is elegant and one can view the gardens and museum exhibits to complete the day. Be mindful though, that there’s an entry fee to get into the arena even before one gets to the restaurant, so do take advantage of the entire Huntington Library / Museum where one can make a full day of it!
Delicious food, nice service, tad pricey, but I will return for another special occasion, when the time is right.
Huntington Garden Tea Room is a wonderful experience. This is my third time visiting the Tea Room, but the first time under this new management. It was great before, it's incredible now. It embodies the spirit of an authentic tea room. The food was amazing, the tea was delicious and our server, David, was fantastic. The tables and the flowers were very nice also. My friend and I are going to make The Huntington Garden Tea Room an annual experience.
Service was great, and the Huntington Special blend of tea is lovely. I normally put milk in my tea, but not this time-- the tea was so delicious on its own. I liked the savory items on the tea service better than the sweet ones-- there was more flavor variety in the savory items than in the sweets. The clotted cream, lemon curd, and jam that accompanied the scones were excellent, though.
Lovely afternoon tea. Beautiful location out side the Rose Garden. Delicious food, carefully prepared.
The scones, sandwiches, tea, and service were lovely! Everyone helping us was extremely kind and warm. It's a bit disappointing that there isn't a better view of the gardens from the inside, and the desserts were a bit sub-par. Overall it was lovely (a big plus to be able to walk through the gardens afterwards!), but for my go to afternoon tea places this one isn't necessarily high on my list.
Wonderful afternoon tea! Gorgeous gardens. We will be back!
Fancy afternoon tea at the gorgeous Huntington Library and Gardens - a special day out! The treats were delicious and the service was very knowledgeable and friendly.
Seated right by front door, it was unfortunate in there was lots of noise and commotion. Over all experience was good, but not great. We were celebrating a birthday, so such a noisy location wasn't ideal for my 82 year old Mom.
Absolutely outstanding!!! Can't wait to visit the Huntington Library, Museum, Gardens and Tea Room again!!!
Overall the experience at the Rose Garden Tea Room was mediocre. Most of the food tasted pre-prepared or from a refrigerator. The service was fantastic, but the noise level within the restaurant itself was a little overbearing. In my opinion, tea time is meant to be a quiet afternoon activity. Plus, I would only recommend going if you intend to spend the day at the gardens or are a member. Spending $58 to get in on top of $100 (party of 2) for a bland tea time experience is a little steep, even for California.
We had a lovely lunch. Everything was delicious.
I enjoyed having high tea here after a work related training. I only wish that chocolate chip scones were served. I'm not keen on the savory scones. My Aztec seasonal tea was nummy.
Service was good and the food quality was good but cost is very pricey and can be above someone’s budget if they aren’t ready for to pay the high cost for the food quality and the good quality tea they provide and it is not priced individually and is part of a package and it is not recommended for those that are on a tight budget and this place is recommended for the occasional celebrations but not recommended for the regulars because of the high cost...
Overpriced and a real decline from what was offered before. I won't be back soon.
Had afternoon tea on a Sunday. Usually afternoon tea is filling, so we booked it as an extended lunch instead. Service once seated was great, but there is no waiting area as such, and we strolled around the rose garden during that time. As a Brit, the standard is close to England even if it's not exactly the same, and I would happily come back for this over and over again.
Enjoyed our daughter-mother time for afternoon tea. Great food and tea!
Amazing food and tea. Perfect for dates or family gatherings.
We’ve been celebrating our September birthdays at the Tea Room for 10 years. It’s an annual occasion. The buffet the Tea Toom used to have was far superior: it had a much better selection- cheeses, salads, fresh fruit, ingenious desserts, all in addition to the tea sandwiches. Frankly, we were VERY disappointed to lose the buffet. What they now serve is ample but too much bread. We will review the menu next year before we return.
I was there with my boyfriend and need a bit quite room but the Herb room was noisy cause got one big group there. and was our first time to do the Tea lunch and his first time to drink tea. We are really enjoy.
Delightful visit to the Tea Room for delicious formal tea sandwiches, scones (the best!), and desserts. Lots of tea flavors available. Reminded us of English Tea in Canada or England.
A wonderful tea with a varied menu and amazing tea!
The food was excellent. Can’t wait to visit again. Service was great also. It was s lovely afternoon tea.
The Afternoon tea is really wonderful. Lots of different creative bites, and overall more than enough for a very full lunch! They also can adjust for vegetarian or other demands (as a couple of us needed). the tea options are also interesting and quite good.
Gracious service in view of the rose and herb gardens -- what more could you want? There are two options, tea service (tea, scones, sandwiches & sweets) with or without caviar and bubbly. The portions are generous and the food is very nice.
I really enjoyed afternoon tea here. They have a good variety of both sweet and savory items. Tea sandwiches included salmon, cucumber, vegetarian, and chicken salad. A little mini cheese quiche and egg salad in a small bite sized pastry bowl was also included. Of course you get a choice of tea. Beautiful, relaxing atmosphere as well and when you‘re to/from the tea room, you can literally smell the roses. I will definitely be back.
Everyone needs to go at least once. Great for a family special occasion or just to do something nice for a loved one.
This afternoon tea was a lovely, calm experience after a rather warm day of visiting the museum and gardens. The food was nice and the service attentive. We were in the back room which is quieter than the front room.
A great experience with a tasty menu, friendly service and an amazing view of the gardens.
Nice experience but Building and decor needs to be updated.
The food and service were great. The view was lovely.
Family visiting from out of town.
We were disappointed in the quality of the sandwiches and sweets. The tea was pleasant. With two glasses of prosecco and tip, the bill was over $100. You have to pay $25 per person entry fee to the Huntington.
A culinary and visual feast with exceptional service.
