I celebrated my birthday at the Rose Garden Tea Room. The staff presented me with a cupcake AND a hand written birthday card. Now THAT was classy! The tea service was beautiful, and yummy. The tea was extraordinary. I had the Huntington blend and my son had the Aztec Spice. Both were excellent! It didn’t seem like it was that much food, but it was. We actually had to pack up our desserts, cuz we were that full. This is something fun and special, and being members, we’ll definitely come again.
Special place to spend with special people
I loved having my birthday at The Huntington's Tea Room. The food was delicious and the Vanilla Berry Truffle Tea was the best! The service was wonderful. My mother was in a wheelchair and the accommodation for the wheelchair was perfect. Everything about the experience was great!
What a great experience to enjoy with a special someone. presentation was just beautiful, food and desserts delicious!
It was great that they had a gluten free menu and a vegan menu for their tea service!
I would often go to Afternoon Tea in the UK (and Germany) but this was just not Afternoon Tea. The scones had not risen enough and were small. Also, they had no plain ones, only ones with cranberry. The clotted cream was NOT a British Devonshire clotted cream (which was the top reason I went to this place) but some whipped up...something. The tea was very good. The service was very nice, they substituted the cheese scones with sweet ones and gave me strawberry jam (although, for Afternoon Tea that should be a given, why would you give apricot jam?). Luckily we were in the second room, the one by the entrance is awful, really noisy. Still, I wished they had turned down the music a bit because if you have to raise your voice to have a conversation as we did, then it is still too loud. Side note: paying $29 for the entrance AND $37 for the tea is just too much, especially for people like us who came a bit later and didn't even really get to see much of the place (didn't realize they close at 5 pm). I will have to keep on searching for a proper Afternoon Tea place in Southern California.
Lovely setting and delicious tea time scones, sandwiches and treats. Even brought out a yummy cupcake for our Birthday girl.
I have visited the Tea Room several times in the past but I didn’t feel the quality of the food was as good as before. The savory selection was awful, with the dedxception of the chicken salad sandwiches and deviled egg puffs. The sweet selections were flavorful but not terribly exciting or different. The French Lemon Ginger tea was excellent. I wouldn’t come back, because I want the experience to be outstanding, not just ho-hum.
The service was great and prompt; Edgar was accommodating and patient.
Tea was good but was disappointed by the finger sandwiches & scones that came with all the options - traditional, gluten-free and vegan. Service and ambience was great though!
Date with wife.
It was a great experience.
The Tea Room is always a special experience. The food and were delicious. Our server Kimberly was charming and wonderfully helpful.
Overall good experience though the food didn’t seem like anything worth $115, it’s more for the ambiance.
It was a pleasure to be able to sit down and be served a meal after a long morning of walking several miles around enjoying the beautiful flowers. The regular ( no alcohol ) tea service cost $ 37.00 per person. After eating, the waiter asked us if we wanted more tea sandwiches, and my husband, without thinking, said “no-thank you” even though he was still very much hungry! I think the tea room should serve larger portions for the money. We even ordered salads before our food service arrived, but it was not enough to satisfy my husband’s hunger. My daughter and I split a salad, and had our share of the tea sandwiches which satisfied our hunger until about mid-afternoon. For three people our bill was $170 after we added on the tip. A good deal of money for a very little portion of food! All-in-all, we are happy that we went, expected a light meal, and enjoyed the much needed noon rest out of the heat.
I probably would not recommend this tea room. I will say that my tea (Carmelized Pear) was delicious. Also - my cranberry scone was very good. However, the finger sandwiches all seemed to be on the same rye bread. Our very nice server asked if we had any allergies but wasn't able to do anything about them because all the sandwiches are "pre-made". The desserts all had the same cream in them.
The interior of the tea room is very plain. Not as 'fancy' as I had thought it would be. I had high expectations based on the glorious location. Our bill was approx. $140 (without tip) for three people. It was a bit of a let down.
Tea Garden was lovely, but somehow I expected an atmosphere more on the order of the house itself. Instead, it was very much a "ladies' room/retreat." More turn-of-the-century ambiance would have been super.
Had a wonderful 2 Hr lunch with a USC sorority sister reconnecting and sharing life’s adventures. Rose gardens were in full bloom!!
I always love The Huntington's Tea Room! The vegan tea offers a range of traditional tea items and is presented with care.
I love this tea room, the food is great, the tea is excellent as is the service.
It was a nice experience, but I feel the food is very overpriced, and we had a hard time finding the tea room in the gardens.
Had a terrific time. Service was perfect. What a great setting. Make sure to get in the back room for a quieter experience.
Very overpriced, for a pseudo-elegant experience. Consider spending less or about the same and visit other local restaurants for a much better experience overall.
Good selection of teas; food was beautiful and delicious; menu has add-on selections as well. Cavier blini with Szn Fran sturgeon and was tasty.
Celebrating a birthday
We enjoyed our experience very much. We have been going to the tea room for many years. We would be happier with the experience if it was like how it used to be where we could get second helpings on some of the food items, and even try a second pot of tea. Our tray and plates were taken from us the second we finished, so that seemed rushed, though everyone was very polite to us. That has happened before, so it wasn't just this time. There were plenty of tables, so they weren't trying to clear our table for other guests. Please at least consider offering some additional scones, as has happened in the past. Thank you for your consideration.
David is the best server. Great value and always magical.
Lovely atmosphere and a very enjoyable afternoon overall. Service was impeccable.
Staff was friendly. They accommodate dietary needs. We were seated promptly at the time of our reservation. Room is a bit noisy.
Wonderful service from Edgar and Roni. Our tea was always kept replenished, water was always served and clean plates were always changed. We would have appreciated more clotted cream but the servers had a huge crowd come in during our time there. Regardless, we had a lovely time and Edgar did a make our time memorable.
Having afternoon tea with my daughter was really delightful. Everything was nicely prepared and described by our graceful server. The tea room is airy and sunny. After having afternoon tea in Scotland, this was every bit as enjoyable and delicious!
It was quite noisy, but otherwise completely enjoyable.
Beautiful place to enjoy lunch! $37 fix price gets you a delicious pot of tea and a tray of sandwiches and desserts which were very filling. You can add on items like a cheese plate, salad, caviar or wine for an additional fee. They even have vegan and gluten free trays as well! The decor was beautiful and the staff was very professional and accommodating. We took my dad on his birthday and he was very impressed. Highly recommend!
Sandwiches were delicious, tea good, scones delectable. Desserts were stale, however.
Loved it. Held a bridal shower with intimate friends and we all had a wonderful time.
A wonderfully designed brunch experience. I loved the tea options as well as the food. The meal was exquisite and the location inside the rose garden makes it a wonderful place to be if you have to wait a few minutes. Will definitely return for the tea room as well as everything else that the Huntington Library has to offer
Fun meal. Gave my mom a nice card for her birthday. Pricier than most places, but a fun place to splurge a little. Planning on going back.
Bucket list. Did not disappoint!
