The tea itself was beautiful, and the food had a very gorgeous "fresh Californian" spin on a formal tea. Everything was fresh baked, and gorgeous presentation and particularly the sandwiches were delicious. We love formal tea and there were a few things that were disappointing. There was one small container (probably 1T) of clotted cream, curd, and preserves for everyone at the table to share. Typically each person is given her own portion. It was weird to share -- and we were a family, so used to sharing. There weren't any formal tea cups - everything was in white mugs / pots. Aesthetically I found that disappointing. There was no timer for the tea -- although we were reminded to watch our own clocks. The tea was in bags, rather than loose, and "stuck" in the pot - meaning it was in this large bag and you could not remove it when the 4 minute brewing was up. The solution to this from them was to pour more water on it, but I wanted the tea out of the water, so I had to fish it out and it was messy and I burned my fingers.

It was overpriced, and honestly had bad service we noticed other tables being treated a bit better than we were I was disappointed by that. It was a very underwhelming experience really wouldn't recommend it. I would suggest doing your own picnic.

Worth going to once. Food was decent and tea was good. Decor is average and they should have outdoor seating options. Price is a bit too high, all things considered. Almost $100 for two, including tax and tip.

Servers were courteous and attentive without becoming obtrusive. Standard tea food selection was a bit unbalanced with too many desserts, but most items were very tasty. Teas were delicious.

I expected more for $160. A fine high tea for 4 was expected- it was mediocre. I guess I thought it would be more like high tea in London. We won't go back for a long time. It was disappointing.

Very cute tea room. Offered a vegan menu and seemed very accommodating with food restrictions.

The food gave us the feeling of being in England. It was fun and romantic for my husband & I to celebrate Valentine's Day on February 15!

The remodeling of the tea room means that there is now a back room which while nice lacks the pleasant atmosphere of the front room. The gluten free menu for my friends was very well received and the service was outstanding. A few of the tea sandwiches were more usual than expected but were nicely done. It is a very nice way too leisurely see the Huntington garden, House and museum.

Service from my first waitress was so bad that makes my daughter and me feel uncomfortable. She didn’t know how the listen.
Second waitress was nice though. He was a good listener about what we need and how.
Place is sadly looking old and cheap. The tea room need a new renovation.
Tea was great and food good so far.
Manager and receptionist need to go to “What not to wear” show!
Noise was acceptable, people and ambiance ok.
Waitress don’t know how to be a great hosts or give a great service.
The complementary flower that we get was sad and didn’t survive the night.

This was one of the best high teas I have had in recent years. Food was delicious and the service was excellent. My only critique is that the tea itself was mediocre and the selection of teas wasn't extensive. They had run out of the tea I wanted.

Very nice service and staff. Food was yummy as was the tea. Gluten free food was very good except for the two mini muffins/cupcakes - Really did not affect overall excellence. Standard tea service desserts were delicious. Scones for both standard and gluten free were top notch.

Although the food on the standard tea menu was good there was not enough food. Given the prices get could have provided more. The restaurant itself was extremely loud, the decor was awful and looked old and worn and was not at all what I expected. Given how well kept the rest of the library/grounds are, the tea room atmosphere was a severe disappointment. The window shades were all closed and it felt like a big stuffy box. They should invest in redoing the interior entirely and, also, creating an outdoor patio space would be really nice given that it overlooks the rose gardens. Our waitress, Joann, was great.

The staff were undisciplined. The “hostess” was on the phone all the time when not chatting with another staffer. The hostess station was littered with stuff on the floor, in everyone’s view. The hostess wasn’t appropriately dressed. The tea was good but food was dull. The service was attentive but not crisp and professional. The room is as dull as the food it serves. It reminds me of a third rate British seaside hotel, boring and depressing. Tea time is meant to be a cheerful meal, a celebration of friendship and family by sharing food that comforts in a pleasant, secure setting. Disappointed.

Restaurant itself was pleasant with nice view of the gardens. Sandwiches were stale - bread was hard as rock & I couldn’t eat it except for the turkey salad sandwich. Scones were fine - not the best I’ve had. Dessert was okay - there was a chocolate tart which was very good. The other desserts just okay - I couldn’t eat it.
