Guests may enhance their prix fixe tea service with additions, but additions may not be ordered à la carte.

Any party over 4 guests MUST call to make their reservation; please do not make multiple OpenTable reservations for large parties as this will not guarantee adjacent tables. For reservations over 12 guests, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Have been to the Rose Garden Tea Room several times now-- they've recently updated their menu and it not only looks more aesthetically aligned with the quality of afternoon tea guests expect to enjoy, it tastes fantastic. It's a robust mix of sweet and savory that will leave you ready for a long stroll afterwards. Service is quaint and quick. Be aware of peak hours (weekends)-- my friend and I went on Sunday and the staff rightfully stuck by the 1.5 hr time alottment for each table. This doesn't seem to be an issue on a slower weekday or weekend.
The huntington tea room is very lovely and the service is always exceptional.
The tea is excellent, the sandwiches are good quality, but the sweets remain very inconsistent. They seem to change pastry chefs every few months and the desserts and scones are just not that good.
For the price, they should have desserts that knock your socks off and are consistent every time.
This part is very surprising every time.
It could easily be the best high tea around, but always misses the mark.
But it is a special place and I do love going there.
The menu was fresh & delicious.
Nice special occasion birthday for my mother & sister. Not something you do everyday but wonderful experience.
Visiting friend from Chicago my partner and I
This could have been a lovely visit had it not been for a table with very small children who really did not enjoy the experience. The children were loud and at least one was crying throughout the service. Their mothers carried on with no consideration to the children, other patrons or the staff. To make it worse they really lingered to the frustration others. I want to add that our server David was just wonderful, attentive and helped us make the best of the situation. The manager came over and apologized but by then we were almost through and I thought they would have responded badly if anything was said to them. The staff is professional, work hard and really did their best so this review is not meant to be a negative reflection on them. I would only suggest setting a specific time for very small children reservations so that others can plan around a disruptive seating. Some tables paid a few hundred dollars for this experience, I would have been really displeased. I may try again as I think we were just unlucky this time.
A little pricey for tea , but still a special place
The service we received was exceptional. Joanna was extremely courteous, informative and kind. She perfectly setup the first time experience for us. Her assistance helped us in selecting the perfect tea and food choices. Some of the items were extremely tasty and others could have been better. The Walnut and Pear salad was delicious. The scones were my favorite along with the apricot spread. The salmon sandwiches were delicious. The Rose Garden Tea Room sits in a beautiful area within the grounds. Unfortunately, the roses were not all in full bloom. Other than that our experience was very nice.
My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary here. I would definitely recommend this as an experience. The gardens are beautiful. Prices are a little steep for both entry and food, I feel like they should offer a discount on entrance if you are eating at one of their restaurants. My husband and I paid $50 for entrance and then another $100 on top for our food. The inside of the tea room was lacking in the sense of ambiance, if you lucky enough to get sat by the windows, then you'll have the garden views which are beautiful. The rest of the tea room could definitely use more decorations to really give you that English tea room feel. The decorations in there were a little blah. The food and desserts were excellent. The tea was nice, but it surprisingly just came in tea bags....we were expecting actual loose leaf tea. Still delicious, nonetheless. We did get a bit of a rushed feeling towards the end...we were sipping our champagne and the bill was given to us without asking if we wanted coffee or more tea, I think due to their reservation system they get you in and out within 1.5 hours.
Always a lovely experience.
Our waiter was amazing, very attentive and made us feel welcome and special. He was great!
Fantastic tea service! It was the perfect ending to a wonderful day.
The regular afternoon tea looked pretty reasonable , I had the gluten free and it needs some improvement . An enjoyable experience yet I think food wise they can do better. Great service
Delightful experience. Our server Efrain provided amazing service. The food was scrummy and the tea, heavenly. I've been here multiple times and always leave happy.
Just a word of advice, if you have problems with ambient noise like I do, make sure to request the back room as the front room can get very noisy as everyone is trying to talk over each other to be heard rather than keeping their voices politely low for the small space they occupy. The back room is smaller and it's acoustics are not as good, so it's a quieter affair.
What a lovely atmosphere and gracious service but very disappointing food. I hadn’t been for quite a while, and the value for what we paid and the portions and the choices of food was far below expectations. Don’t bother going. The new restaurant is much better.
Fabulous experience. I enjoy this tea and putting and am so glad that it still remains.
Beautiful location, very courteous servers, excellent food and of course tea!
This was a memorable wonderful experience and I hope to come again when I'm visiting LA in the future.
We loved it. Good food and plenty for our size. Accommodating to special requests. Lovely atmosphere. Very good service. The biggest problem was trying to book for the 5 as the Open Table site would not do it for five and the phone number given was inoperable. It was very frustrating trying to make the reserve.
The experience was superb!
wish we got in free to to grounds or at least a discount as it turned out to be a very expensive day, however enjoyable
The traditional tea at the Rose Garden Tea Room is always a lovely experience. The tea selection is outstanding--my two favorites are the Earle Grey Crème and the Jasmine Blueberry. All the food is very tasty and plentiful.
The Huntington Library's Rose Garden Tea Room is a great place to experience a traditional English Tea. It is highly recommended and it's best to make reservations. Service is outstanding.
I have been to a number of tea rooms, and feel as though I gave a good sense of what to expect, and this did not meet expectations (even factoring for price). My friend and I received the vegan and the regular trays, and both of us rated most of the food as "okay" at best. The highlight of the "meal" was little more than the associated spreads (that vegan butter was FANTASTIC, by the way), and the pear on brie. For something like a "tea room" the devil is in the details. Yes, cucumber sandwiches may be bland, but the bread was lacking.
Fixed settings - great for special occasions. Service was superb,
Very old and dated looking room. Nothing special about the decor or ambiance. Fluorescent cove lighting (with lots of burned-out tubes), and very dated lighting fixtures. The restrooms were awful. The tea room building is adjacent to the rose garden but there is no view of the gardens unless you're sitting right in front of one of the few windows. They use bagged tea instead of a proper pour-over. The sandwiches and cakes are just average. While we had a delightful server, it was not enough to bring us back here.
A fantastic place for a special occasion. The food is great, and the ambiance and service is outstanding.
Outstanding service, delicious tea, delicious tea sandwiches, wonderful tea house experience in one of the most beautiful places in southern California! Thanks for including caviar and mini-blini in the larger Huntington Rose Tea Service. Looking forward to returning soon!
The only reason I would not recommend is because of the cost plus tip. A wee pricey for tea and finger food.
Thanks thanks thanks thanks thanks thanks thanks thanks
The grounds are beautiful, the tearoom decor and ambiance poorly done and bathrooms in the tearoom atrocious! I mean really, talk about over due for remodeling! Yikes 😱
Great food and tea. Service was wonderful as always.
Amazing delicacies and just a treat; touch of something different and special to try at least once ... and find yourself coming back again. Happy Tea Time!!
The interaction with Gina was cordial. Not only did she ask me (about dietary restrictions) she asked all guests I observed her serving. Scones were lukewarm and deviled egg was found on the bottom shelf of three-tiered tea stand. Light just streamed into this little room. Lack of cacophony catalyzed creation.
Subjects of ponder were gates, ladders and a book called "Unnatural Causes" by Dr. Richard Shepard. Though to some the subject may not be amenable to eating or digestion it was fodder for contemplation of the symbiotic alliances that sustain the body or poisons (genetic, environmental or social) the “lux corpus.”
In a house---originally built for Arabella's Archer--- it sufficed just fine. Vibrant pink roses drank water from white china tea pots. Consistency of service was likened to standards that still sustain the Huntington Library and Garden in its 100th year. Creation here was unencumbered. Thanks to Gina/staff for five stars.
Great place to spend time with good friends.
The service was excellent, the location devine. I am an afternoon tea afficianado both in the greater LA area and around the world. It's one of our hobbies, to take in tea from Bangkok to Paris, Delhi to Moscow. With that, HRGTR is a very pleasant experience. We used to come to the HRGTR often, when it was an 'all you can eat/drink tea'. We were more involved with gardening then, younger in our appetites and less also discriminating. The quality of the food has improved, but I miss the Prince of Wales tea they used to serve. I also miss the generosity of the spread, or the sense of generosity. There was fruit, cheese and a kind of bounty that felt like joy. While the bites are more delicious now for the most part, they could be more generous with both the sandwiches and the condiments for the scones - by that I mean make them a little larger, maybe offer a bowl of berries, a cheese plate or some kind of amuse bouche. The pear and brie sandwich, for example, was stale and dry while the tomato and olive tapenade pastry was microscopic. I'd be less critical if those two weren't 20% of my meal. I also frequent omakase restaurants and I find the small extras a place offers cause me to return and recommend, over an over again. This experience is right in the middle of local-ish afternoon teas. Our server was a generous guy though, and he even asked if we would like more of anything. That greatly surprised and pleased us.
I am very happy they went back to the old service for High Tea...
Service very good. Great experience!
Service and food was excellent‼️ Tea choices were incredible 👍‼️
This tea used to be such a pleasant experience, not to mention a great deal. However, since it has grown in popularity it seems they’ve taken advantage and now you are offered more for less.
Typically with any tea service you can try multiple teas - however with this one (and at a price of $37) the first tea you choose is the one you keep unless you’d like to pay more, and you don’t get any new tea bags. They add hot water to your pot so that you are drinking weaker and weaker tea.
The tea sandwiches were decent, but nothing out of the ordinary.
