Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
The Hunter's Hound offers a lively atmosphere perfect for celebrations, with "fantastic service" and "great food." Known for its Irish menu and excellent beef stew, it's a hit on St. Patrick's Day. However, it can be noisy, and service speed varies. Ideal for casual hangouts and special occasions.

Would not recommend this restaurant. Probably the worst restaurant we’ve eaten at in the Chevy Chase area. Service - very slow. Had to wait over 20 minutes after putting in order just to get bread. Drinks were never refilled. Servers were nice but seemed frazzled the whole time. Food - very bad and over priced. One deviled egg is $6, egg white was rubbery and fried onion topping was stale, you could tell it was old. Like when you leave onion straws in the fridge for a week old. Ordered the Irish Bread and got two unevenly cut pieces both had grill marks but were somehow cold like they just came out of the fridge and also tasted burnt. Pigs in a blanket were so small , they were the least egregious but also were no different from frozen ones you can buy in the grocery. The food and service was so bad we ended up leaving early. The iced tea was so dark and murky you’d think it was a Guinness. Ambiance - Noise level was louder than a banshee’s scream. Multiple puddles of water throughout the floor, slick floors in and around bathrooms, not a mop or hazard sign in sight. There is no pot of gold at the end of this rainbow, just disappointment and frustration. This was truly one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had in this area, I would recommend considering going somewhere else that has fresher food with better value.

Took my wife and six kids here to celebrate Mother's Day, but have been many times before. Fantastic service, great food, we can't get enough of this place and will be back.

Great menu but the food was very slow to come and the chicken on the salads was poached (o think) and VERY bland.

The Beef Chuck in Guinness gravy is particularly good. I've also had the "Hound Burger" there, and liked it a lot. Next time, I'd like to try the Salmon and one of the desserts. We enjoyed the jazz band on Saturday evening 2/22.
