Founded in 2011, The Hudson Café was born in the heart of Detroit just before the city’s much-publicized revival began. Located on Woodward Avenue between Grand River and State St, our name is a nod to the iconic Hudson’s department store and Detroit’s heyday as a bustling, cosmopolitan city. We have been blessed ever since to watch the city progress and grow around us.

Our mission is simple: to celebrate the diverse, hustling, resilient city of Detroit and its people by consistently providing amazing food and a stellar experience. Our expansive menu has something for everyone--whether it’s our take on the famous Maurice salad that your grandparents remember from Hudson’s, a heaping stack of pancakes for the dessert-for-breakfast person in your life, or Mickey Mouse pancakes for the little ones--we’ve got you covered.

Found the food to be just ok. Had the Hudson salad and felt it didn’t really measure up to other local restaurants. It was presented in hunks of meat, lettuce & pickles but lacked any hard boiled egg. Had to be cut up before you could consume it. It was also more expensive than other restaurants. The noise level made it extremely difficult to converse even though there were only three of us seated at a relatively small table. In all likelihood won’t return in the future.

Food is delicious and reasonably priced. Everyone is very friendly and courteous. Five stars all around, except for the noise level. Ambiance feels more like a cafeteria because of the echos.

Rude staff from the moment I walked in. Wasn’t acknowledged no one looked in my face when speaking to me. We all know the demographic of workers at this location and what demographic I am based on the treatment. Steer clear of this place if you are a poc or black woman.

The food was good, the prices fine, the service pleasant. But….i will never go back. It was so LOUD inside that I couldn’t wait to leave.

Awesome food that came out quick on a very busy Sunday morning which was nice. My only “issue” is that it was very loud so it was hard to have a conversation with my friends, but that can probably be expected when it is busy.

I got the Cinnabon pancakes. They were HUGE and delicious. My husband got the Voodoo Benedict, he enjoyed it a lot. I took a bite of his dish and it was very good but the chorizo was a little spicy for me. My mother in law got the Monte Cristo french toast, it was huge and delicious! My sister in law got the Hudson salad which was also huge, and she enjoyed it. We sat on the patio because it was a beautiful day, but the traffic was a little loud. Overall we were very happy with the food and service.
