Came here for a birthday. Service was perfect & food was amazing! Such a cute place.
Excellent staff. Lea was our waitress for the evening and did an excellent job of helping us make this client dinner a memorable experience.
We had a great meal, As always. We couldn't be happier.
The carriage house is lovely. Also appreciated the happy hour, m-f until 7. Yummy, fun, economical.
A great new find!
Menu selection was average, food was okay. Nothing spectacular. Good place for a date, but if you are going for serious tasting food, it is just okay.
Ambience is good, but the burger was very undercooked. Quite pricey too for the quality of food.
A Perfect Place for a delicious meal- we were running 15 minutes late due to rain & Mother's Day traffic- spoke to Leslie who said not to worry. The wait staff was attentive! Great coffee and food- I want to try a flat bread next time!
All I can say is absolutely wonderful. The staff , the attention to the simplest touches and truly caring to “WOW” my wife and l. I am so happy that I choose this gem for my wife birthday because it did give her and I a sensational experience .
Our server, Vincent I believe was super knowledgeable, polite and savvy on wine. Well done all
Have always liked this restaurant. My (first) date and I had a great time. Perhaps if things go right, we’ll comeback for an anniversary dinner! I think she’s a definite keeper!
Accommodating service and solid menu.
Excellent food and service !
Host was super and all staff extremely attentive. Food was solid. Nice ambience.
Union Square is always bustling with crowds especially at lunchtime. There are many restaurants in the area some are very good. However if you want to have that same quality of food and enjoy a quiet lunch with a friend or client. This is the place!
We had less than nice service and the food was really not great. Things that “came with” the fixed price Easter brunch never appeared. Our daughter’s french toast was super dry as if it was truly toast with none of the egg. My husband and son had lobster egg Benedict. The lobster in each dish was icy cold and the eggs were lukewarm. The dishes were not very flavorful. I had the dullest vegetable frittata I’ve ever eaten. My Bloody Mary tasted like pure seafood cocktail sauce: We found very little to like about the meal! We will not return.
Once dinner was served, waiter disappeared. Never offered coffee, dessert, etc.
Delicious meal, wine, and gelato. We enjoyed the flatbread, braised beef and risotto, small side of truffle mac and cheese, and the gelato trio. Every item was spectacular - the gelato was by far the best I've tasted. So good. Would definitely go again.
Fantastic place. Charming excellent service and the food is excellent
The ambience, food, and service at this place is very special. My only complaint is the mark-up on the wine list, which is a factor of 6-7 times retail, rather than the more common factor of 2-3. The Rodano Chianti, for example, is on the menu for $70, but can be purchased in a store for $12-14.
Lunching at The House was a total pleasure. The food, service and ambiance were all what I hoped for.
Would recommend it without reservation.
An excellent find. The service was exceptional. All the food was fresh, hot and highly inventive. The table shared some deviled eggs and one of our patrons dropped one in her water; without missing a beat, the server had a replacement one made and brought it over without our daring to ask; that is service! Entrees were excellent; chicken, mac n cheese, a sublime steak and the burgers. Desserts were uniformly excellent. Highly recommend as this is a quiet gem in a beautifully restored house.
I have always loved the House. Never been disappointed
very good place for dating or talk
Nothing special. For normal table seating, you had to walk a full steep flight of stairs. Downstairs there was only high top seating . Extremely difficult for people with disabilities. Our cheese platter was cold, should have been at room temperature. Came with crackers and several slices of pair. Would not recommend restaurant.
Could use better lights and more selections on the menu esp. main course.
It was our first time dining at The House. As we entered we were warmly greeted and shown to our table which was on the second floor. Our very friendly waiter was at the table within minutes. The restaurant is warm and cozy, the tables are set nicely apart, the menu looked great and the entire staff was super friendly. The three of us shared a few appetizers which were very good. We then enjoy our entrees. Everything was delicious. We will definitely be back!!
Great atmosphere and wonderful staff. Look forward to returning soon!
Deviled eggs were great! Great ambience. We didn’t have full meals just a few share plates. A table behind us had the burger and it looked amazing.
Romantic space. Attractive bar space with a fireplace and high tops. 8-10 tables on the 2nd floor; converted carriage house. Menu of standard american fare done well.
Had apps of 4 different types of deviled eggs, mushrooms in polenta (filling and warming on a cold evening).
4 generous scallops, cassoulet (REALLY FILLING and warm on a cold evening)
Apple gallette (we sadly skipped the S'mores because we were full).
Short wine list. Ordered by the glass. Riesling. Good. Little steep at $16. Delicious Dark and Stormy.
Worth going back for more and S'mores.
Great table. Great service. Great food. Love NYC!
I’ll start by stating that this is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is always excellent. I’ve never had a bad meal here. The service tonight, however, was poor. It seemed the waiter (whom I’ve never seen before) was servicing tables upstairs, and downstairs. We waited a while for him to come over to us and when he did he seemed unhappy. He wasn’t interactive at all, and appeared stoic. The bartender on the other hand was friendly. She came over and took our drink order, but was obviously busy herself. The waiter at no point in the evening came to see how our meal was or if we needed anything. The only time he came to us after taking our order was to bring us our check, and I had to signal to the bartender for it. The runner (person who brought us our meal) was nice and was the one who took our dessert order. Now again, I love this place. The food is excellent and the service is usually stellar. I don’t know what happened tonight. Maybe they had an employee call-out, I don’t know, but they were apparently short staffed. It’s usually so much better. Even still, we loved the Mac and cheese and the short-rib. You’ve really gotta try it, oh, and the brownie sundae! Delish! My compliments to the chef! Thank you.
The House is so special. Always excellent cuisine and ambience.
Very quaint restaurant with superb food & service.
A really nice vibe with very good service and solid food. Perfect for a nice date.
Quiet restaurant which worked well for out business meeting.
Elegant and discreet. Wonderful waiter with taste and humor. Will definitely return.
Great food all puns intended. Recommend the deviled eggs and ample dessert.
This was our first visit and will not be our last. The food was awesome, the service was on point, thank you Vincent, and the overall atmosphere was great. Highly recommend.
I picked The House 3 years ago for my 20th wedding anniversary. It was voted on of New York's most romantic restaurants. We had a great time. Three years later, my wife and I were in NYC again for our wedding anniversary, and so naturally I went back to The House. This time we were not as impressed. The menu had drastically changed and neither of us really enjoyed our meal. The ambiance and service were still good, but the overall value was not there. We will probably be looking for a different location in the future.
